VViViD Air-Tint Dark Black Headlight Taillight Tint Air-Release Vinyl Wrap Film Roll (17.75" x 5ft)

UPDATE: April 2022 5 years later and this vinyl is still going strong. Very durable, and still looks great. No issues with peeling or cracking. This tint has survived 4 Phoenix summers in the direct sunlight. It has barely started fading, which is why I'm replacing them with some fresh tint. But hey, what can you expect when your vehicle sits in the driveway under the direct sunlight and it averages 115 - 118 degrees! Amazing product! Original Review: 2017 These are dark but not a complete black out when in sunlight, which is nice when driving around cops. I installed this on my Genesis Coupe tail lights. If you have LED tail lights, the brake lights shine through with no issues, day or night. Can't speak for regular bulbs, but I suspect there will be no issues with the light output. Very easy to install, even with extreme curves. Just apply some heat to the vinyl where it will make contact to the curve and stretch it enough to hug it. Try to "glass it out" when stretching, but don't over stretch. Remember to always apply to the flattest part first and squeegee from the center out. Don't forget to let the vinyl rest once you come to the edge of your light. This will prevent the vinyl from stretch back and peeling. If you have little to no experience with vinyl, take your time with it and look up tutorial videos before attempting. This particular vinyl has a textured pattern on the sticky side from the nonstick paper it sits on. After you install, this pattern should smooth out and disappear after a few weeks of baking in the sun. If you get any bubbles, take a pin and pop a hole in it. All in all, the quality seems great and easy to work with.

Very easy to install for a 1st timer. I messed up a few spots but it was me being new and not the film. I have used the wet applications before and had to trash them. This is very forgiving and using the heat you can really stretch this cleanly over any shape or curve. I was able to do both headlights, both fogs, and my mirror turn signals with one roll. Just ordered another roll for the taillights. The videos make it look easy but I found the trimming difficult but again I am inexperienced. Lights still shine good at night for oncoming traffic to see you but these are DARK and you will loose a lot of your light output you are used to so it will take some getting used to. I love this product and gave 5 stars. Excellent product, good price, forgiving film for a beginner. Watch some videos and you can do this! For a tip, use extra film like the videos say so you don't put fingerprints in the film as this is not a wet apply film. Adding more pictures of the tailights and mirrors plus light output. Really hoping VViViD will send me a decal for my car or a banner for my garage, or both for my reviews lol 🙏

I didn’t realize this product is applied dry, no need to buy applicator or soap. Took me about three hours to wrap the headlights on my bike, kind of a stressful process but it turned out good for my first try. Be aware, you WILL put scratches in whatever you’re wrapping from using the razor blade. But who cares, it’s wrapped over. I got the darkest tint and light transmission is good, definitely dim but usable at night (I left the high beam clear). Complex shapes are pretty hard but not impossible. I had to freehand a lot of the cuts which is a little scary. Overall good product and happy with the results.

It was easy to install on my 2002 Mustang. I’m not a pro at this but I’ve done this a couple of times & this wrap is a great product. Heat, a felt squeegee is a must or you will scratch the hell out of any type of tint. This vinyl is thicker than most so it does take a little more patience than window tint. Heat is your friend. Don’t try to do this in cold weather. These are all lessons I’ve learned doing it myself. So this review is also me passing on information that will hopefully help you to not make mistakes. I’ve had it on my headlights & tail lights for two weeks. I’ve driven from South Georgia to Northern Kentucky which was a big difference in temperature. It wasn’t summertime heat here in Georgia but I was parked in the sun. After traveling 1000+ miles in different temperatures, rain, sun and snow as well as different speeds ranging from 20mph to 120mph & it’s still in place, looks great and I used foam glass cleaner with a soft towel to clean the lights and it didn’t scratch any of the tint. It cleans easily too. Now this is just two weeks of it being on there but it makes my car look even better than it already does. I have a Mineral Grey Mustang Saleen with black wheels, grill, tail lights, 5% window tint and now black head lights. I’ll try to upload a picture. It’s blacked out. This product is the best I’ve ever used! I highly recommend using it. It’s DIY friendly so give it a shot. I would buy more than you need Incase of a mistake. Good luck with it. You will love how it makes your vehicle look! So will everyone that sees it.

Install was super easy but I did not have any aggressive curves. Would be a 5/5 but the air release tech makes the vinyl have a reptile skin type texture. It's still shiny but not really glossy. I would not recommend this for anybody tinting headlights, the adhesive mixed with the texture would greatly impact vision at night.

So I will say that my initial impression of the vinyl was favorable because it seemed really thick and durable. But that's where the "positives" end. If your headlights / taillights have any amount of contouring or curvature - forget it. I have applied dozens and dozens of decals and tint on vehicles over the years, and I'd like to think I have it down to a science. I even have a 'kit' in my house that has all the necessary application items (alcohol, squeegees, razor blades, etc.) - so I was not nervous about putting this stuff on at all. But I was wrong. So wrong. The first attempt took about 25 minutes and ended with creases & bubbles galore. To the point that I could not remove and re-apply whatsoever without making it worse, so that piece was trashed. Didn't want to waste another piece - so I watched a couple video applications to make sure I was following the proper directions with this particular material (first time working with Vvivid products). The only thing I noticed was an increased use of heat, which I thought was weird because too much heat / stretching seems like it would make the tint lighter in some areas... but I figured this stuff could handle it if that's what everyone was recommending, right?! Nope. Bottom half went on okay - but on the second stretch around the top corner of the tail light, the tint literally just melted away and opened about a 3" hole right down the middle as I was laying it. Complete waste of time, energy and money - and now I'm back on the hunt for something better.

I have a 2013 Lincoln MKZ, which is ironic because I have chrome. I plan to black it out and the first step was the taillights. I bought this because it was cheap just to try it out, but I will definitely be buying some black wrap from vvivid to cover all my chrome up after this install! Very easy to install as long as you have the right tools. I’m not a professional or anything at this, but this stuff gives you a lot of opportunities to screw up. Just make sure you cut a sheet bigger than the area you’re covering, then prep the light with some isopropyl alcohol (I even used a clay at after for good measures). Then peel the backing off and stick as you work the backing off the wrap. Some people like to use a credit card, but I had a felt tipped squeegee for tint that worked very well. Just make sure to peel up any creases or bubbles and then firmly run the squeegee towards the edge of the film. I recommend getting a tint blade and a thin plastic tool to work the tint into the perimeter of the light so it looks better. As well make sure to use a heat gun on it. -very easy to apply, just take your time. -sticks well, but still easy enough to peel back to correct errors. -great shade and light shines through fine. (The camera seems to alter the light, but in person the taillights are minimally affected in brightness). -super great price for the quality. Thanks, will definitely be buying from vvivid for any other wraps I need.
