VViViD Air-Tint Dark Black Headlight Taillight Tint Air-Release Vinyl Wrap Film Roll (17.75" x 5ft)

UPDATE: April 2022 5 years later and this vinyl is still going strong. Very durable, and still looks great. No issues with peeling or cracking. This tint has survived 4 Phoenix summers in the direct sunlight. It has barely started fading, which is why I'm replacing them with some fresh tint. But hey, what can you expect when your vehicle sits in the driveway under the direct sunlight and it averages 115 - 118 degrees! Amazing product! Original Review: 2017 These are dark but not a complete black out when in sunlight, which is nice when driving around cops. I installed this on my Genesis Coupe tail lights. If you have LED tail lights, the brake lights shine through with no issues, day or night. Can't speak for regular bulbs, but I suspect there will be no issues with the light output. Very easy to install, even with extreme curves. Just apply some heat to the vinyl where it will make contact to the curve and stretch it enough to hug it. Try to "glass it out" when stretching, but don't over stretch. Remember to always apply to the flattest part first and squeegee from the center out. Don't forget to let the vinyl rest once you come to the edge of your light. This will prevent the vinyl from stretch back and peeling. If you have little to no experience with vinyl, take your time with it and look up tutorial videos before attempting. This particular vinyl has a textured pattern on the sticky side from the nonstick paper it sits on. After you install, this pattern should smooth out and disappear after a few weeks of baking in the sun. If you get any bubbles, take a pin and pop a hole in it. All in all, the quality seems great and easy to work with.

I have a 2013 Lincoln MKZ, which is ironic because I have chrome. I plan to black it out and the first step was the taillights. I bought this because it was cheap just to try it out, but I will definitely be buying some black wrap from vvivid to cover all my chrome up after this install! Very easy to install as long as you have the right tools. I’m not a professional or anything at this, but this stuff gives you a lot of opportunities to screw up. Just make sure you cut a sheet bigger than the area you’re covering, then prep the light with some isopropyl alcohol (I even used a clay at after for good measures). Then peel the backing off and stick as you work the backing off the wrap. Some people like to use a credit card, but I had a felt tipped squeegee for tint that worked very well. Just make sure to peel up any creases or bubbles and then firmly run the squeegee towards the edge of the film. I recommend getting a tint blade and a thin plastic tool to work the tint into the perimeter of the light so it looks better. As well make sure to use a heat gun on it. -very easy to apply, just take your time. -sticks well, but still easy enough to peel back to correct errors. -great shade and light shines through fine. (The camera seems to alter the light, but in person the taillights are minimally affected in brightness). -super great price for the quality. Good for headlights or taillights but not for anything you want to see through. Wanted to tint some plexiglass on a project I was working on but needed to be able to see through it after this caused a lot of distortion.

Awesome! Easy to wrap! Gives plenty of material and is clearly handled with care in packaging.

Install was super easy but I did not have any aggressive curves. Would be a 5/5 but the air release tech makes the vinyl have a reptile skin type texture. It's still shiny but not really glossy. I would not recommend this for anybody tinting headlights, the adhesive mixed with the texture would greatly impact vision at night.

Tint has been on on the car for over 2 weeks. I daily a 2008 Toyota YARiS, and I wanted to spice him up a little. Wanted to tint my headlights, but couldn't find a shop to do it. Said screw it, found these VViViD tints. Thought "why not?" and went ahead to give it a go. I'm by means no professional when it comes to wrapping. In fact, this was my first ever tint/wrap job. I regret choosing the enormous headlights on this car to be my first, but it was a learning experience nonetheless. Up close, you can see imperfections and wrinkles at the edge because I decided to do this by myself with no help at all. However, from far away, it looks freakin' AMAZING. He's like a lil' alien now. Straight outta Area 51. The air release on this product is good, not the best for my extremely large and round headlights. It was hard to wrap such a round shape. However, the vinyl's flexibility allowed for a lot of play. I was able to stretch out and heat shrink most of the wrinkles (with a heckin' HAIRDRYER, I don't have a heat gun!!!!) to make it look nice and glossy. I spent 2 hours on each headlight. 4 hours in total on these massive things. No regrets. Saved myself a whole bunch of money and now, I want to wrap more. Just a note, these are TINTS. They WILL reduce the light from your headlights/tail lights/whatever car lights you put them on. I'm running LED's on my car right now, but even with LED's, these tints change visibility by a whole lot at night. Without the tints, I could see a clear whole 50 feet infront of me. With the tints, it's reduced to maybe 1-2 cars visibility. KEEP THAT IN MIND BEFORE YOU TINT!!! Other than that, great product, 10/10 I'm completely satisfied.

I applied the dark smoked vinyl to my 2005 Silverado headlights and turn signals. It took a me a couple hours and I was pretty happy I’m with the appearance. Any early concerns I had was because of my installation ability. The vinyl is really dark but I knew that. I would prefer a smoked color that was in between the light and dark options. The reason for my poor star rating of how the vinyl held up over the weekend. After an hour of driving to town and back with my lights on, both headlights bubbled up and the vinyl looks baked-on in one spot. My headlights and signals are the stock units with Sylvania Silverstar halogen bulbs that are an upgrade from the original bulb. My turn signals still look good after a couple days. I was hoping this would be a fix for appearance of my old hazy headlights. It did briefly but I will be shopping for a new set of headlights instead. The vinyl itself seems like a good product but for headlights applications results will probably vary with the heat intensity of your bulb and proximity to the face of the lense.

Very easy to install for a 1st timer. I messed up a few spots but it was me being new and not the film. I have used the wet applications before and had to trash them. This is very forgiving and using the heat you can really stretch this cleanly over any shape or curve. I was able to do both headlights, both fogs, and my mirror turn signals with one roll. Just ordered another roll for the taillights. The videos make it look easy but I found the trimming difficult but again I am inexperienced. Lights still shine good at night for oncoming traffic to see you but these are DARK and you will loose a lot of your light output you are used to so it will take some getting used to. I love this product and gave 5 stars. Excellent product, good price, forgiving film for a beginner. Watch some videos and you can do this! For a tip, use extra film like the videos say so you don't put fingerprints in the film as this is not a wet apply film. Adding more pictures of the tailights and mirrors plus light output. Really hoping VViViD will send me a decal for my car or a banner for my garage, or both for my reviews lol 🙏

Loved the way this product was user friendly and you don't need a lot of experience to get a good result.

This stuff is amazing. I've used everything else you can name for taillight tinting, and before this, VHT was by far my choice option. VHT's downfall is its irreversible. I tried another vinyl years ago and it was junk, didn't bother trying the 2nd light. The plastidip is removable, but it looks terrible to me, and not just my job, I can pick them out on other cars, it looks terrible. The vvivid film looks as good as the VHT spray, but it's far easier to install, and it's removable. I'm doing the tails on my 1986 and 1987 porsche 944's, and I really didn't want to make it permanent on something so special. This was the ultimate answer. And it forms so perfectly and effortlessly. My tails have red lense, clear lense, and amber lense, and when wrapped, they all look very very similar. I can still tell them apart, but barely. Better than VHT. Careful with the heat, it doesn't take much. If you've ever tinted a window, this is about half the heat (duration, not temp). Good luck, though you won't need it.
