No longer warrantied as reputed
Costa was, once upon a time, a great company who backed their products. That has changed. I have been buying Costa products since the mid 80s and have only used other brands when they were presented as gifts....and none of them...Ray Ban, Oakley....none....were as satisfactory as the Costas I have owned. The glass lenses are (or were) the ONLY lens that would hold up to the rigors of offshore fishing for more than a few months. No matter how much you paid for another brand the salt spray and humidity would render the lens un-usable in 3-6 months. Costa lenses will still stand up to offshore fishing.....but Costa no longer warranties their products like the once did. I have broken several lenses in various Costa products over the years and never did they refuse to make them good...at the time the glasses cost about 50% more than comparable Oakleys and RayBans. Now that the prices are more in line with those brands Costa ONLY warranties their products against workmanship errors, if then. Understandable, but that is not the deal Costa and I have had since the mid 80's. When Costa was a relatively small company and was concerned with customer loyalty they would replace a broken lens no matter what. I've even known people who had their glasses replaced when they were lost overboard! I know of one instance where they sent a friend a new pair of glasses to replace a pair he FOUND in the Brazos River, with a cracked lens, after he told them he found them. They didn't care....it was their product and they backed them regardless. Again, they were more expensive, but knowing they were backed by a reputable company made the expense worthwhile. Now that every fishing guide in the world and every outdoor personality on TV is using Costa products they no longer back their products as they did when their first customers became loyal! I will continue to use Costa products because there isn't a comparable product available...again, no other lens that I've found will last offshore. With that said I will be open minded where I was once of the opinion that Costa was the only brand I'd buy. If another company introduces a lens that will last like the 580g lens does offshore I will give them a try....that wasn't the case just a couple of years ago.

Be careful ordering Black frames and Blue lenses
I had ordered this pair of Costas to replace the pair that fell into the water over the summer. The items description states that it is a black frame with blue lens pair of sunglasses. My pairs frames were a dark navy color that could be seen when the sunlight hit the sunglasses (They were see through). I have seen another reviewer who had the same issue as I did, and like they said it is pretty distracting being able to see that blue color. The lenses them selves were good, although they are the 400 Glass, and not the 580 P. There are other reviewers who have mentioned that.I was able to compare the product packaging of these Costas with the pair that I had lost, and there were a few concerns. The craftsmanship of the case that they came in was far superior with my old pair that I bought from a store. The documentation was different, and did not seem to be at the same level of quality as the original. They may have been real, but it put enough doubt for me to return the item.I would be careful buying this product, If it was not protected by the Amazon guarantee I would not purchase it.

Horribly thin plastic at the joint
Given the cost, these sunglasses are a disgrace, only surpassed by Costa's blatant customer service thievery.I had these for some time, but had another pair of Gatorz sunglasses that I used on a daily basis.. and only ever used these on occasion, which is why it was so shocking when they broke. I was simply unfolding them when the frame snapped away from the arm that goes over the ear, revealing an almost paper-thinplastic piece that was all that stands between the arm being attached and... broken. It is easily thin enough to snap easily under normal use. That being said, I was confident that this would be covered under the clause of "bad workmanship" as it is laughable how poorly manufactured the attachment is.So, I decided to send them back:Here is where the true nightmare begins. First, they want a $12 charge to "evaluate" your sunglasses. This doesn't cover the shipping costs either, which came to about $11for me using their shipping label for UPS. Several weeks later, I received an E-mail stating that the break was not covered under warranty andI must now pay $50 for a repair plus $9.99 for return shipping.Let me be clear: there is no possible way I was abusing these sunglasses and any quality item would not be broken. This is unconscianable by Costa.Furthermore, now my sunglasses are being held hostage as they will not return them to me without paying for return shipping. I will be cutting my lossesand using the money to buy sunglasses that aren't overpriced garbage made by a company that it turns out is even worse.Save yourselves and look elsewhere.

Bait and Switch
I am very disappointed, bait and switch. They are very nice glasses just not what I ordered. My order from amazon reads Costa Del Mar 580G. Someone has tried to cover the original label with one that reads 580 P lens. See photos below. The glasses has a sticker on the right lense that reads 400 G. If you would be happy with the 400 then by all means order them. If not Run!!! I have ordered tons of items from Amazon and have been very please up until now. Not sure whose fault it is but I am returning them today.

You will not get the lenses that you order. ...
You will not get the lenses that you order. Ordered these twice with blue mirror 580p lenses. Both time I received with 400g lenses. Had to send back... The manufacturer box has a huge sricker showing 400g lenses...

Yes REAL and nice but may be blemish units. Still worth it!
So YES these are real Costas. HOWEVER they may be blemish units not sent to stores. You probably won't find the blemish in them I believe mine is the small rubber section deformed on the nose piece but you can barely see it, you really have to look. They aren't defects by any means. Overall I'm extremely happy with them. They are the real 580 glass lenses and the frames are real and perfect new condition.

Glasses were used
Nice glasses but they have been worn before. There was oil residue from eyelashes inside the lenses and dirt on the outside.
