Absolute best, full stop
I've been using ear plugs for the better part of a decade (open office floorplan, working from home with noisy kids, etc) and I can honestly say these are BY FAR AND AWAY the best there is. Pay the extra and get the exact branded ones. Don't bother with the green bullet shaped one. Don't bother with the cylindrical yellow ones. And while decent, don't bother with the green contoured one. Previously, I used to use the back of a pen and FORCE earplugs deep into my ear in order to get good sound isolation. I would have dedicated pliers to grip and remove them (yes, no kidding). They expanded and applied substantial pressure. I chalked the pain up to the cost of entry for peace and quiet. Not anymore. These Howard Leight ones are fundamentally different. I'm not sure what the process technology is that allows this, but these have to be tried to be believed. This material is incredibly soft and compliant but it does so while (somehow) remaining closed cell. I gently roll into my ear with my fingers and I now get the same level of noise reduction, but... no pressure. I shove it in with the back of a pen (not recommended) and it's absolute silence. My ear canals have probably been forced apart over the years with uncomfortable earplugs so your mileage may vary. But this is a game changer for me.

Most noise reducing ear plugs I have found
These have been the most noise reducing ear plugs I have tried yet. They have more material than other ear plugs, which helps to block up the ear canal and they also expand more after placed in the ear. They also have a disc like shape on the end of them, which helps to block sound from going down the sides of the ear canal. My only issue is that these ear plugs were almost too good, and they expand so much that they made my ears a little uncomfortable if worn for a long while (but this is like 8+ hours in a row plus napping in the afternoon). I would highly recommend these ear plugs for short time use and then you can decide if they're comfortable enough for long time use. You should definitely compare them with other brands and see for yourself that they block more sound.

Not perfect, but pretty good once you learn how to use them
It's hard to judge since all ear sizes and noise levels are different but I purchased these because of a snore heavy spouse. I still hear the snoring at about 30% compared to without these. I learned that you have to pinch and roll them flat, THEN insert in your ear and wait for them to expand. They always stick out regardless a bit, but perhaps this is due to my ear canal size. Sometimes they fall out. But overall it's better than nothing. It masks the sound of my white noise machine by 90% if that is a better indication of effectiveness. I give them a B+

"Leight" sleepers need these earplugs
These Leight earplugs are the best at blocking out noise that I've ever found. Used them a few years ago, but couldn't find the brand locally when I finally ran out. I've had to rough it with other earplugs when I couldn't find this brand at the store any longer...pumped that they're available online! I have always had trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. Any little sound catches my attention. a And consistent or loud noise? No chance of sleep. I've used multiple other brands and earplugs (including ones that match the decibel specs of these Leight's and are the same shape/color) and they never quite block out enough noise...still able to hear breathing, birds, lawnmowers, ticking sounds etc. With these bad boys I can't hear a thing and sleep incredibly soundly (or soundlessly, rather 😉). I don't even encounter the issue I've run into with other plugs where noises are blocked, but your heartbeat or own breathing is amplified. Long story long, I'd recommend these to anyone needing to block out everything; whether it's for sleep, work, or travel. They're great.

Ears were sore after using at night
Good sound cancellation when inserted correctly. Inserting them in the ears is really hit or miss and often doesn't create a complete seal on sound. You have to put them in just right. Don't crinkle, crease, or fold them over when rolling them up. Make sure you insert them quickly or else it won't make it deep enough in the ear canal to create a proper seal. Another brand (cheap from the store) accomplished much the same level of sound attenuation without hurting my ears, and they were skin-colored so I could use them in public without drawing attention, for example during an exam.

Very comfortable
I wear earplugs to mitigate my husbands snoring. Doesn't completely block it out but enough to get to sleep. These are the best ones that I have tried. Don't buy the more expensive pink ones for ladies delicate ears. These work great for all sizes. They also last a long time and can be washed with soap and water.

Didn't work
Not sure why these were rated so high. They barely cut any noise at all. I could not get a tight fit no matter how hard I tried. I tried these instead of another brand I usually buy and was very disappointed.

Sleep is Better
After trying other ear plugs that always ended up falling out during the night, I decided to try these. To my surprise, they fit like a glove and stay in all night. I usually get up early when my wife does so I can see her before she leaves but have slept in several times just because I sleep more soundly with these ear plugs.

Those are my go to! Very comfortable, fully noise cancelling, and you can wear them several times.
