The Warumpi Band's sophomore CD Go Bush is an edgy blend of hard rock, new wave, and country-rock. The album tends to provoke a whirlwind of emotions with it's inspiring political anthems and hard-driving protest songs. The intense opener "No Fear," a song about hometown violence, sets the tone for the album that despite it's upbeat feel has rather dark undertones. Some songs try to hide their anger with a catchy melody, "From the Bush," however, is a bombastic assault against contemporary Australia. While the edgy tracks are certainly memorable, equally impressive is "My Island Home," the band's most well-known tune. The song, which was covered by Christine Anu in 1995, is a true rock anthem, praising Aboriginal life. Beyond these tracks the album features a solid mix of styles with the country themed "My Countryside" to the instrumental "Didjeridoo Blue." with it's musical diversity and bold statements Go Bush is easily one of the best Aboriginal rock albums to come out of the '80s.

I can't say enough good things about it
I discovered this band a few weeks ago and I have been listening to and analyzing this album to death ever since I got it. I can't say enough good things about it. There is not a weak track on this album and it captures the heart and should of an overlooked culture.

Gotta love the Aussie Indigenous music.
Have been a fan of the Warumpi Band since they began. The Lead Guitarist (and only white man) was my Art teacher at High School. Very happy with my purchase as I have the LP back in OZ but wanted the CD.

Yolngu Music!!
Go Bush! is an excellent example of Yolngu pop music from Australia. It is part political,a part musical, and of course a part Yolngu with the use of the didjeridoo featured on the title 'Didjeridoo Blue.' 'Secret War' is commentary on the 'invasion' of Australia and the ensuing tragedies that occured. The music also has a variety of styles such as rock and country. Some of my favorites include 'Yolngu Boy' and 'Tjiluru Tjiluru.' They are both sentimental and profound in their lyrics and music. All around, music is a good blend of pop music and Yolngu music. The lyrics in the songs are not all in English, but No Worries! The lyrics for most songs are translated and included with the CD.

Outback-Rock vom Feinsten, from Australia!
