Fast, reliable, and perfect for backing up photos and video
I’ve been using the SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD (1TB) to back up photos and video, and it’s been one of the most useful pieces of gear in my kit. Transfer speeds are genuinely fast, so moving large batches of RAW files or video clips takes minutes instead of forever. Drives in this line are rated around 1000–1050 MB/s read and ~1000 MB/s write, which makes a noticeable difference when working on tight timelines. The size and build are a big plus. It’s small enough to keep in a pocket or camera bag, and the rubberized shell feels rugged. These drives are designed with water and dust resistance and drop protection, which gives some peace of mind when traveling or shooting outdoors. Setup is simple with USB-C, and the included cable and adapter make it easy to use with both newer laptops and older USB-A ports. I’ve used it for everything from field backups to editing directly off the drive, and it’s been consistently reliable. If there’s one small downside, it’s that like most compact SSDs, it can get slightly warm during long transfers, but nothing concerning. Overall, it’s a great portable SSD, especially for photographers, videographers, or anyone who moves large files regularly. Fast, durable, and easy to carry, which is exactly what you want in a travel drive.

Works Great, Compact and Solid... Can't Have Enough Back that Can be Used for Editing & Gaming
I am a maniac about backing up files and this is another redundant backup that I can also use for gaming and video editing if I chose to do so, compact and solid. SANDISK is a good brand and I am glad I picked up for the recent price hikes, good quality. I also bought a hard shell cover for traveling. Easy set up and good to go.

Never risk free with storage, might as well not go broke
Notorious for failing, bought with trepidation, but so far no issues.

Tiny, Fast, and Perfect for Travel
I can’t believe how small this SanDisk 2TB Extreme Portable SSD is! It’s incredibly compact and lightweight, making it easy to carry in a pocket or laptop bag without taking up any space. The data transfer speeds are excellent. Copying large files is quick, and it has been reliable for backing up photos, videos, and other important files. It’s a great portable drive if you need fast external storage on the go. The only downside is the price—it is definitely on the expensive side. That said, you’re paying for a combination of portability, speed, and a generous 2TB of storage. If those features are important to you, it’s a worthwhile investment. Easy to install, just plugin and start using it. I used for my PC laptop

Do NOT use Sandisk encryption
The SSD sustained data transfer speeds between 350 and 400 MB/s with large files. Once I knew the disk worked and before putting it to use I thought I would give their data encryption a try. Basically it creates a tiny read-only volume with a copy of their encryption software. This could be handy when you need it to access the encrypted data on a different computer. Their software will expose the encrypted volume and mount it provided you enter the correct password. From there is works like any other volume. I used the auto-mount option which eliminates having to keep entering a password when you mount the encrypted volume. It all seemed to work well enough although I was never quite sure how secure the data actually was. I expect it was encrypting the files’ content but left the directories and filenames exposed. Next I tried to disable the auto mount feature. Everything I tried failed and the volume continued to auto-mount. I reached out to SanDisk support who were friendly enough but their suggestions were just not working. The documentation they provided for how to reconfigure was not matching with what their software was doing. After spending over a month I got tired of playing “try this” and just asked them how to restore the device back to its initial pre-encrypted condition. They discouraged this and made a point of explaining it would result in the loss of all the data. I was only testing their encryption and didn’t care about losing the test data. Again, their instructions were not matching the software. For example they mentioned that entering the incorrect password 5 times in a row will bring up additional dialog options. It did not. (You need to enter the password to reconfigure the encrypted SSD and apparently to disable encryption altogether.) Eventually I got tired of going around and around and gave the Windows disk tools a try. It is still basically a disk so I should be able to reset it at the device level. Oddly I couldn’t get any of the windows tools (like disk management tool or diskpart) to remove the read-only partition. I was able to get the rest of the disk to reset and ended up with a two volume drive (although the reset volume might still have been encrypted). I tried how to articles from the internet with no success. Finally I gave up wasting time and asked SanDisk replace my drive. SanDisk wouldn’t take the drive back but eventually agreed to exchange it for a previously used and refurbished one. The exchange took nearly 2 months. Keep this in mind if you need to use their warrantee. Two months was plenty of time to research other encryption options. I chose VeraCrypt because it was the most flexible, supports multiple platforms, has thorough encryption, and was free thanks to the open source community. The setup was easy and worked exactly as advertised. I liked it so much I decided to keep using it. Also the encrypted volume exists as a file on SSD which can be deleted (like any file) when you decide you no longer need it.

This is working VERY WELL for me after a year
After a year or so of continual use, this portable SSD drive is working wonderfully still. I love how portable it is. I purchased a padded travel case for mine, and it's been safe in travel. I have read that newer models of this product sometimes have mixed reviews; but I have nothing but GOOD THINGS to say about this older model!! Wonderful and it is fast so that I never notice slowness. Mine worked with my Windows computer right out of the box, it didn't require any special setup. The storage capacity was indeed 2 TB (Terabytes). It's a GREAT BACKUP DRIVE!! It was also easily compatible with my Windows laptop. Very nice product, would buy again!

My photos and documents live in here!!!
I cannot go anywhere without my portable SSD. All my life is backed up in this small thing. It is compatible with all of my devices (I have Apple devices only). I can backup my information, photos and more in seconds. The material feels durable, is really nice, durable and if there is ever an accident it is waterproof proof too. Extremely lightweight and easy to pack. It is easy to use, super beginner friendly and comes with a USB-C to USB-C Cable and a USB-A Adapter. Totally worth the price. Genuinely recommend to get one (or multiple!! If needed!!) of these!!

Scan Disk SSD 1TB
Very cool delivery, on time, very happy with the SSD drive, it is a little more expensive than the usual one, but since my previous hard drive failed and I lost all my data irrevocably, it is better to get a reliable drive, although the price is higher for the sake of reliability and quality.
