Midland - WR120B - NOAA Emergency Weather Alert Radio - Localized Programming, Trilingual Display, 60+ Emergency Alerts, Alarm, Selectable Alert Tone

After sleeping right through a tornado warning for our county, we decided to make the purchase and get a weather radio. This one was easy enough to set up and get the alerts we wanted. The closest broadcast location is 21 miles away, and we get a good signal with it being plugged in & placed on our headboard. I tried it on battery power in our basement, and the station comes in relatively clear down there too. If you google "NWR Station Search", you can enter your zip code and see where your local weather station is broadcasting from. Although the radio will figure this out for you, you still need to verify the frequency during setup.

Okay, first time through the programming I misconfigured the channel. But after connecting that it works great. Great notification through sound, display, and voice. Wakes me up at night and tells me exactly what the problem is and where. Everyone should have one of these.

Great. Took some time to understand the set up. Different than the older one I had previously but it's working and has warned me of coming storms.

Works perfectly. Easy to use but a bit challenging to program which is why weather stations continually offer to set this unit up for people at events they have. The display is easy to read but often has stopped displaying the message by the time we get to the unit to see what is going off and why. We replaced our 3yr old midland identical unit due to the cord going out on it, we did not know if it was the unit or cord. Turns out to be the cord but would cost us to return it because the free ship allowed us to buy one other small thing and if we returned this, we'd be stuck paying ship on the small item. So stuck keeping the new one when all it needed was a new power cord. Not impressed that it did not last better. It is not at all user friendly to program and we got through it again on the new unit, but it is a pain. So, I took off a star due to the company does not even seem to expect it to last as they want you to purchase a warranty on their website. Portable easily.

This weather radio is perfect! After purchasing some other cheaper weather radios that had loud tones that went on for so long I’d miss the first half of the alert. I finally decided to try this one. It is super easy to program and the alert tone doesn’t drown out the actual alert it’s trying to warn me about. It is on the higher priced side of what I was willing to pay but it is worth it.

Works great! Bought it after watching a video that mentioned a woman in Joplin didn't receive her cell phone alerts until 2 hrs AFTER the tornado had already went through town. We also recently took it on a trip to Kentucky with us. Reprogramming for the locale was quick & easy. We actually had a tornado warning while we were staying there and the radio worked great; early warned us. Very glad we had it on the trip.

Seems like we purchased this a year ago. It is still working great! Although we don't like it to come on, due to bad weather might be approaching!! ha

Seems to work fine and do it's job. Haven't had any alerts yet but in test mode the alarm is plenty loud enough. Simple enough to set up if you are used to working with appliance menus,. Even simpler to operate. Single button operation turns weather forecast on or off.

Funciona perfecto con la señal de alerta sísmica en la CDMX (igual EDOMEX), en general agarra la señal de radio de la alerta muy bien, no tiene el sonido "clásico" de la alerta sísmica pero el tono de alerta (es muy parecido al de un reloj despertador) es fuerte y claro incluso en su volumen bajo. No importa si se va la luz, con el respaldo de las baterías sigue funcionado a la perfección, tiene una salida de audio a amplificador o altavoz, salida de antena (RCA) externa para aumentar señal, salida a estrobo o dispositivo de alertamiento lumínico. Recordar que se debe estar en un estado con cobertura de SASMEX. Mucho mejor precio y función que el "radio oficial de sasmex" (precios exagerados de robo y hace exactamente los mismo, no se deje timar).

i paid for this thinking since it has the S.A.M.E. feature it could be programmed to any country but no just within USA or Canada. Worked fine for a couple seconds with batteries in but had to find an adapter and keep it plugged into the wall; if I didn't have an adapter as it comes with the 2 pronged USA charger. The material feels fairly cheap particularly the charging cord and it feels could snap at any moment; the device itself 1. it reminds me of an early 00s CD player you carry around with you, which isn't bad but it doesn't last with the 3x double AA batteries (i tried a couple different ones, brand new) and so i can't really carry around with me and doesn't pick up any of the stations as I am on the other side of the atlantic so if I decided to go to USA to visit my friends or visit my family in Canada I can't even check for potential storms and so on, as even with the antenna doesn't pick up anything, just static and i can't even program with the feature to the region and place I am in 2.when you turn towards you you can't see anything on the display; it has 2 little collapsible legs so it's at an angle but if for example you tried mounting it to the wall you can't see anything. Can't pick up any stations or program it to where I am unfortunately. Tried to see if i could and reading the instructions and watching videos of the same product so I could have a reason to keep it but unfortunately will have to return it.

My younger son really loves this radio and it shipped quickly. The channels are clear and highly recommend it and gives many different types of alerts!!

Compré este producto por que la alerta sísmica pública en la zona en la que vivo, se escucha a lo lejos, por lo que a veces no es fácil percibirla (CDMX, México). Cuando la instalé seguí las recomendaciones de los videos de YouTube para poder configurarlo, pero emitía alerta por mensajes desconocidos o falsas alarmas. Por lo que tuve que ingresar al menú de alertas y desactivar prácticamente todas y solo dejar la de emergencia desconocida (que es donde avisa la de terremoto). Hasta este momento no he tenido problemas con falsas alertas y funcionó perfecto en el simulacro del 19 de septiembre de 2022, inclusive sonó antes que los altavoces públicos cuando minutos después sucedió el sismo ese mismo día. Por lo que, con experiencia les puedo decir que es un producto confiable y relativamente fácil de configurar. Solo es prestar atención en desactivar casi todos los avisos y dejar el adecuado para terremoto.
