Smoker Grommet Kit with Drill Bit - 4866405R06

Drill bit worked perfectly to drill through the smoker. Gaskets fit perfectly and allowed the probes to pass through with ease.

Easy installation and look very nice, it will be using them on Thursday with my Thanksgiving day turkey!

i used a 1/4 inch cobalt drill bit to start the whole. then i placed a strong magnet next to the stepped bit. it will pick up all the shavings while drilling. i carefully drilled up to a slightly smaller hole then carefully drilled one step at a time. then test fitting it. carefully continued until the fit was tight. i also applied a small amount of black rtv into the groove just to bond it to the metal. then just worked the grommet into the hole and wiped off the excess. before installing the grommet put the step bit into the hole and mark the next larger step with a marker as an indicator when to stop. it makes it easier if you are drilling a second hole.

2 minutes to install... not a joke. I think the bit was worth more than the grommets themselves. Which begs the question. Why aren't these in from the factory? My old Smokie Mountain had one from the factory. But I've been running thermometer cables under the lid for the last 3 years on this thing and tearing them up. Problem SOLVED. *** Update *** Installed a 2nd set on my new OK Joe's Hitch grill. Once again simple install, perfect results. Can I give more than 5 stars?

I used the grommet kit on a Cuisinart COS-118 charcoal smoker. The fit is not perfect-leaked a little smoke-but worked fine for me. I did not have the drill bit, so including the stepped drill bit in the kit was great. Instructions were a bit sketchy, but installation was easy to figure out. I used a center punch to start the drill bit so it did not travel. Also put a bit of high temp paint on the edges of the hole to (hopefully) prevent rust. Very convenient accessory for your temp probes.

This works great. Not just for Oklahoma Joe smokers. I recommend using a high speed electric drill. One purchaser recommend not using the very last size on the bit and I agree. You will get a better fit. I highly recommend this product.make sure you capture the splinters, I used an old rag on the inside the chamber to catch them and then rolled up the rag and shook out the metal fillings.

This is the third one I've got, the first showed up missing the actual product. The second was all the and the third but product packaging was open. The drill bit works and the grommets well. Good product, bad packaging. And Amazon did refund me for the missing items.

Step drill bit worked great for installing my thermometers and the silicone grommets. Stayed sharp. Use oil when drilling hole.
