Q: How long does one strip last?

I’ve been using my first one for a few month on my fermentation buckets for homebrew beer and it still seems to work.

Q: When using this for fish tank do you put on outside of tank?

Yes outside works in either top corner left or right also very accurate

Q: How are the themperature determined?

The colored marking shows the current temperature, it's at so it's easy to read. The color will move and change as the temperature changes.
