Essential for pit orchestra
I play semi-regularly in pit orchestras for community theater, which means lots of doubling. I am now 100% sold on Légère reeds. They are durable, reliable, and sound great. Sure, they maybe don't sound as good as a premium cane reed, but when you're picking up an instrument cold and need the reed to respond instantly, I guarantee the sound of these is much better than what you'll get from cane under those conditions. They're not cheap, but they last forever and you only need one!

Throw all the cane away
I moved away from Cane Reeds a little while ago. The whole of idea of trying to getting a cane reed to work, has always been like grabbing smoke. You put these cats in and they work. When you practice they work. Gigging they work etc etc. They feel different at first, maybe slippery. I usually get the Studio cut for my Alto. The American Cut has a better tone. Just 2 criticisms. 1 the product is clear they are so easily lost. 2 I never use the reed capsule they provide it simply destroys the reed. Throw all your cane reeds away. Just simply play.
