Product's effectiveness varies with phone
The effectiveness of this product depends on the phone and where the SoC is located. I currently have a Pixel 9 phone. The SoC is located on the side of the phone within reach of this cooler. My experience with my Samsung Galaxy S24 was very different. The SoC on that phone was located in the top corner of the phone which is not in reach of this cooler due to the camera being in the way. This cooler keeps the S24's battery cool but not the SoC. The S24 still throttles with this cooler.

So far I'm impressed.
Purchased this for a geo based game I play. It has me outdoors in the southern USA during summer (HOT!!) and in prior years I've had stuttering and lag after prolonged use of my phone and it was clear my phone was VERY hot.I received my purchase and the 'security' tape on both ends of the device were cut. I don't know if this is a refurb unit or what (isn't supposed to be) so I almost just went ahead and did an immediate return. But I figured I'd just go ahead and see if/how the thing fit and worked on my phone.I'll be updating this review with usage results as I have them.First test was indoors with no particular workload on the phone, just idle. My normal temp is 82F. After about 10-15 minutes this thing had dropped the phone temp to 64F, the phone case was literally cold to the touch! I was impressed. One of the key things I wanted with this device is the pass through charging. I plan to run this off a battery bank and want it change my phone as well. For this initial testing I was using a standard 110v wall plug. The pass through charging does work but it's a slow charge for sure. With 88% battery my phone was showing over an hour to charge to full. With a direct plug in of the phone that dropped to under 30 minutes. So I'm not too impressed with the pass through capability. However I also have no frame of reference here, I've never used a device drawing & using power AND charging the phone all from one USB 'C' cable.I'll be doing some real world tests on this soon and will update. So far I am impressed though. For $25 an 18 degree temp drop is pretty sweet. IF this works as well when the phone temp is 20-25 degrees higher and the ambient temp is 30-40 degrees higher then I will really be impressed. Tentative 5 stars.

Works For A Phone But Not A Ham Radio
I purchased this because one of my favorite small portable ham radios tends to get quite warm during use. This device, powered with a standard USB cable does get quite cool. So much so that you have to watch out for condensation on the back. For someone that spends hours on a mobile phone (e.g. gamers) this would keep the phone from overheating. Unfortunately for me, the clamps that hold it to a phone are a tiny bit too small to attach to the back of a Xiegu X6100 radio. I haven't found a way to attach it that doesn't interfere with the radio's operation. It will work to cool a heavily used cell phone (which is what it's sold for) but I have never spent so much time using a phone that I had a problem with heat.

Well-designed active cooling unit for most candybar-style phones
This unit is well-constructed around a heat-hungry aluminum heat sink. Dual fans are mounted on a protective plastic frame. The surface area of the heat sink is generous and will suck away the heat from the back of your phone. This is ACTIVE COOLING; it uses high-tech semiconductor cooling which is also used in portable electronic coolers. Make sure the back is flush and is not overlapping your camera bump; this will create a gap which reduce its effectiveness and encouracge condensation instead. The unit is very lightweight and fairly quiet. It has a thoughtful USB-A to USB-C power-passthrough feature to power both the fan and the phone (2-amp USB charger required). One USB-A-C cable is included. NOT A WIRELESS CHARGER. It also has a 1/4" camera mount screw socket so you can attach it to any sort of camera mount. One standard socket swivel mount is included, but no base. I use this unit to keep my Samsung phone cool while using it in desktop mode with a monitor; no more "this app is overheating your phone and will close" messages! This is definitely a good value for the price.

Really bad design
Right from the get-go, once you have the device in your hand, the poor design jumps at you...1. The hole for the mount is recessed pretty deep, and there's not much room in between the 2 fans. Therefore, there's no way to use the counterscrew on the mount, to lock this device in place. I doubt any of these "engineers" even tested their design.2. The clamps for the phone have a spring mechanism to open them, in order to accommodate phones in a variety of sizes. Great, everyone does that. BUT: The clamps are so short that they can't accommodate the thickness of most modern phones, especially with a case. Again, did these "engineers" even establish the target market and came up with some design requirements? And, you know, TEST their design? In short, it's worthless. Don't buy it. Ask your wife, who always has cold hands, to hold your phone and cool it that way.
