Smaller but tasty and good quality
I had purchased a 1/2 oz. container at Whole Foods for $16 and noticed it was out of date, so am returning it. The morels from there were larger than this one, but what a difference in price! I cooked a chicken with morels recipe from Ina Garten and it was a big hit. These morels are flavorful and elegant. Will buy again. Size just didn't matter.

Next best thing to fresh picked!
We had a very dry spring so mushrooms were very hard to come by. Rehydrated some and cooked with garlic infused olive oil and butter. Delicious! Added some to beef stroganoff a few days later when we had company over and everyone commented on the morel flavor. It was a big hit! Exactly what I was hoping to receive!!

We have enjoyed this purchase.
We do not have access to fresh Morel mushrooms where we live. So, I made this purchase. We have enjoyed eating them. They are dehydrated, so I don't have to worry about them going bad. I can hydrate what I want and use them how I want. They taste great. Not exactly as "fresh" as right out of the ground. But, they are good. We've had fun cooking with them.I will buy them again.

Do not taste like fresh morels
Frankly, I wasn't sure how to rate these since I've never had dried morels before this purchase. Dried morels may all have this same (almost musty) smell and taste for all I know, but they distinctly do not taste like fresh morels. I've been hunting and eating wild morels for 65 years so I know exactly how they do taste. I can't easily get out to search anymore so I was looking for a new source and I was hoping for a tasty treat. These are not it. I received 74 mushrooms from tiny to large in a 2 oz jar. Pictured are a dozen, reconstituted for an hour and each cut in half. They look similar to fresh picked, albeit a little rubbery. Fried them my usual way, dredged in flour and browned in oil and butter. They aren't inedible but you're not getting the good, earthy taste of fresh morels.
