Refreshing! Very tasty & a much better choice than Jello since it’s without nasty dyes & chemicals

So I got this Simple Mixes Natural Gelatin because ever since I was a kid, I have LOVED (literally ❤️ LOVED ❤️) Jell-O and especially Jell-O “Jigglers” and the Jell-O Gelatin Pops and Jell-O Pudding Pops that were sold in the 80s. But because for the past decade or so (since 2008-2010) I’ve been trying to eat/live organic as much as possible, and avoid things like high-fructose corn syrup, artificial colors & flavors, additives, preservatives, and artificial sweeteners like aspartame/neotame/acesulfame, among others, I did NOT want to buy regular Jell-O and unfortunately, I didn’t know about these Simple Mixes Natural Gelatin at that time.Actually, it in fact wasn't until a couple years ago (the summer of 2021) that I first found out about it. Rather, as far as I can remember, everytime I’d look online or in local stores for organic gelatin, the search would come up empty, and the closest I could get was either UNFLAVORED grass-fed/pastured gelatin OR vegan “gelatin” which, of course is not gelatin, but usually pectin that’s also used in jams & jellies, and while the texture of that is fine or even GREAT, when its used for THAT purpose, when its used as a substitution for gelatin, it tastes (at least in my opinion/from what I recall, anyway!) absolutely DISGUSTING…….…………and so, out of those two options, I decided to get the unflavored grass-fed/pastured gelatin and then sweeten & flavor the jello myself.However, the problem, was that no matter whether I tried flavor the jello using fruit juices (like organic apple juice), or crystallized fruit powders (like True Lime, True Lemon & True Orange) or even concentrated flavor extracts (like Simply Organic Orange Flavoring) the taste STILL came out too weak/bland — and when it came to using fruit juice, I didn’t know how to increase the strength/potency of the flavor WITHOUT altering the liquid proportions to such an extent as to risk the gelatin becoming so runny that it would not set. Whereas, although initially, the crystallized True Lime, True Lemon & True Orange fruit powders actually DID taste like authentic lime, lemon & orange, after buying it a few times, ironically, right after I’d bought it in bulk (in a 500 packet case, I think!) I noticed that the taste had suddenly changed, and instead of tasting like the fruit it should be, it had some weird, metallic-type taste. Not to mention that using the True Lime, True Lemon & True Orange powders was a huge pain, necessitating opening multiple individual packets of flavoring, because it was not available (at least at that time, don’t really know about now!) in a shaker jar or bulk canister. But, yet, as was the case when using the supposedly concentrated Simply Organic Orange Flavor there was little to NO real orange flavor but more like a chemical oil taste. Probably because it was likely not even really an orange extract, but an OIL. The jello even had a distasteful greasy film on the top of it after it set. Kind of like if/when a person pours oil into water, how the oil floats on the top? Now picture that thick coating of oil stuck on top of an entire rectangular dish of set, but uncut Jello.In other words, not only did it NOT taste the same as regular jello and did NOT have a good & deep/strong flavor, but worse, the jello actually came out GREASY! Gross, right??Which is why, as much as I ❤️ Jello, from the time I started going organic in 2008-2010, until July 2021 when I found THESE Simple Mixes Natural Gelatin, I rarely had Jello (with the exception of the aforementioned times I tried to make it myself with unflavored gelatin) and instead tried to satisfy my Jello cravings with organic (and sometimes non-organic) gummi items………………….and as soon as I came across the Simple Mixes Natural Gelatin during what I’d thought would be yet another futile search online for organic jello, I knew I had to get it, and immediately put in the order. Initially, I bought the Simple Mixes Natural Gelatin in a variety pack, because I wanted to try the different flavors to see what tasted best/which ones I loved the most, and buy those in bulk, and then, if possible, order the ones I liked but less in a smaller quantity — and I’m glad I did, because although I love ALL of the flavors in the variety packs, I definitely liked (in order of most liked to less or least liked) the lime and orange best, followed by the cherry and then the strawberry. So since then I’ve ordered the lime, orange and cherry individually in the bulk 6 pack and have yet to order the strawberry again. That being said, I really wish that Simple Mixes had more flavors of their natural gelatin, particularly green apple (or apple, in general), watermelon, peach, raspberry, grape, and even mango, pineapple & apricot like the Jell-O brand and other brands offer. Because I’d love to have those flavors of gelatin, but not enough to buy the Jell-O (or other brand) versions with toxic and even CARCINOGENIC (cancer-causing) artificial FD&C food dyes, and other junk. By the same token, I’m starting to crave having Jell-O in those flavors so much that I’m even starting to consider getting the “junky” conventional ones, anyway, if I cannot find (or make) an organic or even just natural equivalent. So it’d be great if Simple Mixes would consider offering the aforementioned flavors & others in their gelatin line as well, and enable those of us who love Jell-O, and want a bigger variety to have it and still be able to avoid all the food dyes, preservatives and other stuff in conventional Jell-O brands. For the most part, this Simple Mixes Gelatin is a GREAT natural alternative to Jell-O. Although its color is NOT as bright & vivid, its to be expected since its not colored with artificial chemical food dyes but fruit & vegetable juices — and while I myself have not done so (because I don’t really care about the color as much as I do about the taste/flavor) if one wants to improve its appearance with a stronger, deeper color, such as for a party, then they can probably put in a drop or two (or more, dependiing on their preference) of Watkins Assorted Food Coloring or other natural food colorings which use vegetables and spices, rather than toxic artificial food dyes.Also, this Simple Mixes Natural Gelatin is NO harder to make than regular Jell-O. Just open however many boxes of this gelatin that you want to make (I usually use two boxes at a time, so the Jell-O comes out in taller/thicker cubes) and mix a 2 cups of boiling water or juice per each box and whisk the mixture until it dissolves, then stick it in the refrigerator until it sets. That being said, I wish that this gelatin dissolved easier. Because despite whisking it briskly for several minutes, there was still a layer of undissolved powder grains at the bottom of the pan after the jello was set, and that is one of the reasons that I gave this gelatin 4 stars instead of 5. The other reason, is, as I mentioned the limited variety of flavors compared to the Jell-O brand, and other brands including Sonic, Royal and generic store brands. Other than that, I’m pretty satisfied with these gelatins, and will continue to buy and make them (especially the lime, orange and cherry!) from time to time, and hope that Simple Mixes expands their jello line and starts adding more of the aforementioned flavors, particularly apple, watermelon, raspberry, and grape. All in all though I think the Simple Mixes Natural Gelatin is a GREAT alternative to the artificial junk in regular Jell-O, and for those of us who like (and crave!) the taste and texture of REAL gelatin on occasion, but for whatever reason are unable and/or unwilling to make their own from scratch, these Simple Mixes Natural Gelatins are PERFECT!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These taste SO good and are one of the few DYE free options available! I use these when we make gummies at home!

I’m happy to have found a gelatin that is not made up of artificial colors and ingredients. I use this to make gummies and it is delicious.

The bag came to my house perfectly. The insides of the bag though - all the bags leaked and were inside the cardboard box, so obviously I couldn’t use it for my kids. When I tried to ask for a replacement, all avenues showed this was irreplaceable and wasn’t eligible for a refund. Won’t be paying for another just to see it happen again.
