Deep, powerful, heart wrenching, empowering…
Adkins shares her own journey through the ups and downs of a tumultuous life and over 7 years in an emotionally and psychologically abusive marriage. She shares her truth and as a psychologist gives a glimpse into the processes she underwent and tools she used to overcome the consequences of her trauma and come out of the hurricane stronger and more kick-ass than ever. The title says it all! This amazing woman has been through so much trauma, but still has the wherewithal to share her pain and healing. We all suffer trauma. That’s life. This book offers some fantastic insight on how to overcome it and move forward to healing.

Inspiring
It’s a short read but worth it! I could relate to a lot of what the author said about her life and it made me feel seen. If you’re looking for a self help book this is not it. It’s a life story and lessons learned through them with some tips given along the way.

I'm definitely judging her 😬
I can't hep but wonder what kind of psychologist let's their life get this out of control. This story will probably make you feel better about YOUR rock bottom. The book has lots of typos, and needs to be re-edited. If typos bother you, get another book. She also could not spell Kavanaugh, yet is so passionately against him that she would show up with her child to protest his nomination. It's a shame that you're already planning for your child's abortions. Yikes on bikes, my dude.I gave this 3 stars because it was readable in a day, and the seller got it out to me in decent time. Other than that, the author sucks.

A Must Read For Anyone
The author showed a tremendous amount of vulnerability, resilience and courage. Not only for what she went through, her ability to cover come numerous obstacles, but also in sharing her story. It is inspiring, motivating and a testament to how putting one foot in front of the other, keep moving and having faith can propel you from your Rock Bottom. The footholds offer great suggestions and guidance, as well as the free workbook.Didn't put this book down until I read every page. Highly suggest for anyone, not just those who have experienced trauma or had difficulties; it shows any reader that they are capable of accomplishing great things when they put in the work! Amazing job Doctor Adkins!!!

Be Brave! Be Free!
Dr. Adkins takes you on a rollercoaster journey of emotion. She pulls you in to not only experiencing her pain, but also her reasons for the decisions she made at the time she was experiencing her trauma. Her "Footholds" at the end of each chapter are helpful in applying the same principles to your own life. She is also very humble to point out that even though she is a trained psychologist, and helps people with trauma all the time, each of us is still a human being and we are all susceptible to "The human condition." Great Read! Strongly recommended it, because we all know someone that could benefit from her story.

Follow Her Amazing Personal Journey and See Yourself
I enjoyed reading this book. The title caught my eye and prompted me to pick it up and start reading. It was amazing to see the author go through her journey. It was a very personal story through some serious trauma. It’s not all doom and gloom though because at the end of each chapter, she has “foot holds” where she shows how she started the climb back up. All told, this is a story of being knocked down over and over, but she shows how she took steps to come back and be stronger than ever. I like that she also gives resources to help the reader take back control in his/her own life too.

Be the light that guides people in the dark
I love this quote from the book. I will let you find out the circumstances surrounding it by reading the book.Do you feel discouraged, defeated and downtrodden? Do you feel like life has beaten you up, left you to suffer alone? Do you feel like there’s no one who could possibly understand what you’re going through? Do you feel hopeless because of how much you have suffered in life? This book will help you realize not only that you’re not alone but also give you hope. You’ll discover there are real solutions for real people who have gone through and/ or are going through real life “Rock Bottom” situations.Dave F.

Mesmerising while being in awe of what the author went through
Kudos to the author for writing this book. I would imagine it was bittersweet - painful & cathartic all at the same time. I was mesmerised by the ups and downs of her life while dealing with my assumptions that as someone working in the psychology area, she should/would automatically know better. But the author is human and I truly hope she has hit rock bottom (there were many times in book that I thought “surely this has to be rock bottom!” but no, there was more to come) and that good things are happening for her now.For readers who are looking for some ideas and tips on how to deal with difficult situations in their life, the author provides tips that helped her get through various incidents that you might find helpful.I found this a difficult book to leave a review for, as it is so personal to the author. That said, I couldn’t put the book down, so it gets my 5 stars.

Qualified AND caring
Dr Adkins is not just a qualified and experienced psychologist, but also clearly cares about her readers. Her footholds at the end of each chapter are designed to help us all to avoid rock-bottom, as well as helping us to climb out if we do get there.
