Jagwire Mountain Shop KIT - Shifter/Derailleur Cable & Housing Kit - SRAM/Shimano MTB

For everyone who suffers from the same problem that I face on a daily basis; the following is for people that are like me. Thus here is a TLDR; this cable kit come packaged very well, the parts inside of the packaging were nice and neatly organized which added a extra bonus because I purchased a so called identical part equivalent which when I opened the box of the competitive from early last year the cabling came untangled and unraveleed immedietly almost whiplashing me in the neck. Now mind you the cable is about the thickness of a half a tooth pick so it wouldn't cause much damage, but the point I am getting across is that the Jagwire Mountain Shop Kit came packaged professional, in a s,all package, and wasn'r packaged and taped so well that it was childproof for me not to be able to open. For anyone who deals with the same daily struggle I do, this one’s for you. Quick TLDR: this cable kit is packaged way better than it needs to be, in a good way. Everything came neatly organized, which was honestly a relief. I bought a “basically identical” kit from another brand last year, and the moment I opened it, the cable exploded out like a jack-in-the-box and nearly took me out. Now, to be fair, the cable is about the thickness of half a toothpick, so I was never in real danger, but still, the point stands. This Jagwire Mountain Shop Kit, on the other hand, was packaged professionally in a compact box. It wasn’t over-taped to the point where I needed tools and a therapy session just to open it, but it was secure enough that nothing came flying out at me. Installation is pretty standard for a bike shift cable. If you’ve never done one before, it’s actually simpler than it sounds: pull the old cable out, tape the new housing to the old one, and use it to guide everything through the frame. Done. Easy. As for durability, it feels solid and high-quality. I expect it to hold up for a long time—even in a household where my 9-year-old has somehow managed to destroy a graphene tennis racket (which, if you’ve never tried, is way harder than it should be). Visually, it looks clean and not ugly at all, which is more than I can say for some bike parts. My only real complaint is that I wish it came with two cable housings. Even if it cost a few bucks more, it would be worth it—especially for people like me who somehow manage to mess something up at least once per install.

Value priced cables for an older bike. These cables worked very well. Good price and good shipping.

This is a great replacement for the Shimano shifter cable. I purchased a used Trek 3500 mountain bike for my son and had to replace the shifter cable (because I replaced the worn rear derailleur and the old cable was now too short). For reference, the shifter is a Shimano CI-Deck Plus (model ST-EF29-7). The only thing I was worried about was that I thought the barrel end of the shifter cable was too "fat" to fit into my shifter. It was a perfect fit! The length was longer than needed, which was good and it came with the fittings needed for the end of the cable as well as the cable housing. The top cable in the picture is of my old cable and the bottom is the Jagwire cable.

I ordered the Jagwire Mountain Shop KIT - Shifter/Deraileur Cable & Housing kit - SRAM/Shimano MTB. This was a perfect replacement for my daughter's 24" Mongoose mountain bike. The kit comes with two separate cables, one long plastic housing, plastic housing ends, and metal cable ends. All the parts were well made. The plastic tube housing was much better than what came on the bike and it is "cut-to-fit" for its length. There was plenty for both front and rear deraileurs. I only replaced the cable and housing on the front, but I have plenty leftover. It was an easy job and took me about 20min, but I am an experienced shade-tree mechanic. Great kit. I was very pleased.

I used these to replace old and stuck shifting cables. They work exceptionally. Easy install and now an old tire bike is riding like new! They could include more cable ends. I have a bike that has many cables hooks and exposed cable. I ended up reusing a few ends to complete the install. So if you have a similar cable routing, either order extra ends or reuse some old ones

Good stuff, fixed my inconsistent and hard shifting in the rear wheel. Good price too. Would buy again fs. Only problem is need more cable housing.
