Rocky Mountain National Park: The Complete Guide: (Color Travel Guide)

This is our 3rd in this series. Whenever we visit a park with a Kaiser guide, I use it to plan the trip and then carry it the whole trip to reference the relevant information about the places we are visiting. With these books, the first thing you'll notice is how incredibly well-made the books are --- beautiful full-color photos and thick pages with sewn bindings. In each book (including this one), he does a great job of including both historical and natural information about the parks. But by far the best parts are the trip planning --- he points out the best hikes (divided by difficulty), views, and activities. You don't have to read through hundreds of summaries and look at multiple lists to figure out what you want to do. My glowing review has selfish motives since I hope he'll release books for even more of the parks.

If you like purchasing guide books to research an upcoming trip, this is the one you should grab for RMNP. I've purchased from other popular book series, this is far more complete. Great photos and easy to read maps. Plus some other topics you might want to know about the park, flora and fauna. If James Kaiser makes more books about other parks I'd definitely buy them.

I wish I had found this book before I purchased every book and map I could find hoping to better understand the terrain. While maps are always necessary, this book has all of the context that maps do not. Not only does it contain detailed information about the trails, lakes, and sites to see within RNMP and surrounding areas, but it also has detailed history, maps, wildlife, and colored pictures (that you don’t need a magnifying glass to see) to understand the lay of the land. I’m really stoked that I found this book before my first trip to explore the RMNP area. It truly contains everything you would hope to find, in one resource. Much gratitude to the author for creating this book in such an intuitive format. ✌️

It's a great book for details - a little bit challenging to plan your trip with just the book. We planned our trip based on YouTube videos and than used the book to get additional details on the placing we planned to visit.

We recently bought a cabin near the Wild Basin entrance of RMNP and I was looking for a guidebook that would help us as we explore this area. This book exceeded expectations as it not only provides trail recommendations but also discusses the ecology, geology and history of the Park, which is something other books have a tendency to skim over or not include at all. The pictures really make this book stand out—they certainly make you want to go out and explore RMNP!
