Lived in Germany, Gardena is quality stuff. I bought 2, mounted to limestone walls with anchors. Outstanding retractable hose. Take inside in the winter and place back on mount in spring. Don't pass this up because some reviewers a. Can't mount it properly (it needs a solid wall, you'll be pulling 100' of hose!) b. Never used one and didn't read instructions to turn off the water and empty the hose before retracting c. Don't know what quick-connects are and think they need to cut the end off to put on a hose sprayer (go to the big box store, plenty of standard quick connects to use with your sprayer). Quality thru and thru. A little bit more than some competitors, but who are those guys? This is quality German product. You won't be disappointed! (oh, and 1/2" vs 5/8" line mean nothing; have a plumber check your water pressure if you're a residential homeowner. If you're using this for a ranch..well, maybe not) Buy one! Then get another once you mount it, use it, and find out how much better it makes your life not rolling up hoses.

Recently had some professional landscaping done on my property, and needed a new watering hose system. My Dad had bought Gardena products back in the 1960's-70's and raved about the quality of the product, and when I saw that Gardena currently makes retractable reels, I knew that was going to be my choice. I made the correct decision. Quality of hardware is outstanding. The use of the reel is fantastic - easy to use and always retracts easily and perfectly every time. Wish the hose quality was more heavy duty - it does feel thin, but performs well. This one was the 100' model, attached to the house, but I have also purchased the 60' model, mounted in the ground. FYI: I had reservations about the ground mounted version, but they did a great job of designing the mounting system - once properly installed, you CANNOT pull it out of the ground, which was my great fear! When my landscaper used the reel system he was amazed at how well the system worked, and wanted to know more. Gardena makes some great products, quality is very good, I know you will enjoy using their products!!!

The concept behind this product is amazing, and it functions as designed, but the connectors, especially the quick connct pieces, leak. I can't leave a hose timer hooked up to this because of a constant drip. The default adaptor pieces are plastic, so you need to purchase accessories on top of the already expensive product. For the price, I would expext them not to cheap out using plastic connector pieces.I contacted support and was routed to Canada dor North American support. Contact info I had to search for myself and no one would talk to me u til I provided a receipt and photos. They are sending me some replacement adaptors, but considering the ones I have are brand new, sending me more plastic will not likely stop the drip. I ordered more metal pieces, sigh. So close with this product, I hope they get it together on service support and quality.

Purchased this based on the reviews. Wish I had dug a little deeper and found out that this thing is a piece of garbage, but I had to learn the hard way. Fortunately, I have the assurance protection plan and was refunded the money because I was outside of the return window. I purchased this with the intention of putting it up immediately, but due to a remodeling project that was going on at our house that extended an additional three months, I wasn’t able to put this on until last week. within one minute of it being installed, two of the nuts that are holding it to the house, the heads broke off. They literally just popped off across the patio. The very first time I pulled the hose out to water an item. I heard a snapping sound and then what sounded like a spring unwinding for a minute. It turns out it was the retraction device breaking on the very first use rendering the entire hose worthless. It will neither pull out nor retract. One use. Total garbage. It turns out. This is a pretty common problem with this product.
