How do you cook it?

Preparation is easy!  When making a full pouch, simply follow the directions on the package. Simply boil 6-8 cups of water (depending on the package).  Slowly whisk in the package contents. Reduce heat to a medium boil  and cook, 12-15 minutes.  Remove from heat and let sit 3-5 minutes before serving!The Legacy Team

How long will these items last without being opened?

If stored correctly ( cool, dry, dark and consistent) these meal will last up to 25 years!  No garages and hot attics, or storage units.  Temperature controlled and cool is important!

Is there meat in these?  They look all pasta and starches.

Accepted Answer

None of our meals contain meat.   Food storage companies which have meat, either put a very small amount in their meals or use TVP, a Textured Vegetable Protein that replaces the protein meat provides.  We get our proteins from the beans and cheeses in the meals, and sell meat on the side so you can add as much or as little as you want. Its 100% beef or chicken.   If you compare the protein in our meals, you will find we are typically the same or higher!  Regarding the pasta: Pasta is extremely shelf-stable in dried format. Dried pasta has little to no fat or moisture content, which is why it resists spoilage. Because it has a long shelf life, pasta has been a traditional food storage component for years, also being calorie dense and versatile! It makes great  hearty, satisfying and nutritious meals for preparedness or emergency meals. 
We do sell individual ingredients, like meat, fruit vegetables if you prefer to design your own meals with out pasta as well!  Hope that helps!

Is it possible to purchase mre's with no cheese in them.  I do not eat cheese and money would be wasted

I think if ithere was cheese in them knowing the army or the military it would be separate it probably only with the crackers or mac and cheese there's tons of varieties of MREs
