This is an expensive base but is the sturdiest thing - your Purple Leaf umbrella will not be moving if it's attached to this guy and it is filled correctly. The was a 'must buy' for our umbrella because it serves as the legs for it - the umbrella screws into the top of the base. We purchased the Purple Leaf 10' vented top umbrella and this was a perfect match. No fun to spend this much on a base - I wish they would just sell it with the umbrella since the umbrella literally will not stand without it. That said, it's secure and well-made.

This base is really sturdy and was relatively easy to assemble. There was a point where having a second person would have made it a little easier to assemble but I did it by myself. The most impressive thing was the customer service and that is what is prompting me to do my first review after being an Amazon customer for roughly 25 years. I bought the umbrella through another company and Purple Leaf reached out to me when they didn't see an umbrella purchase through them and wanted to make sure the base fit and said to return the base if it doesn't fit! Long story short I ended up buying an umbrella through another company due to wife's preference on an umbrella size/color that was not in stock at Purple Leaf. Purple Leaf and I traded messages over several days and I was thoroughly impressed at how prompt, courteous and knowledgable they were. I vowed to write my first review based on the experience. In the end the umbrella fits perfectly and is great but I would have more peace of mind if I had bought the Purple Leaf umbrella. Thank you Purple Leaf!

We bought this base for the PURPLE LEAF 13ft Patio Umbrella Outdoor Round Umbrella Large Cantilever Umbrella. It's a very large umbrella, and we live in a very windy area. It has done the job of securing the umbrella very well so far. The base is plastic and metal, the plastic part seemed flimsy coming out of the box. Setup was difficult. There are 2 small openings on the top to add sand and water. I wanted to use sand to get maximal stability, and it took me a couple of hours with a funnel to get the sand into the base. There may be a reason why they use such a small opening but it made for a difficult afternoon. I hope it's never necessary to remove the sand- it will be even harder, and the base does not have wheels so it will be very difficult to move with sand in it. If you can live with less weight and just plan to use water, this will not concern you. Once set up, we mounted the umbrella. It takes 2 people to do this safely. As noted, the filled base secures the umbrella very well. It's necessary to stand on the base to fully extend the umbrella, or to put the cover on the umbrella after use. The base flexes when stood on, does not provide a firm surface, and raises concern about longevity over the years. Still, so far, working well, so I gave it 4 stars.

I purchased this base for our 10ft Purple Leaf with the rotating base. The base is itself is a breeze to setup and the bottom portion of the umbrella can be attached easily by one person without the use of any outside tools or equipment. (You may need a second person to add the top portion containing the actual umbrella) The base once filled with water is very sturdy and the thick plastic of the base along with the metal bracing along the bottom seem durable. I love that the water can easily be let out in case you need to move the umbrella to a different location or store for winter. After following umbrella set up instructions, opening the umbrella is easy and the step down rotator worked smoothly alongside the base. If you purchased your umbrella at a different time or from a different account than when you order the base, keep an eye on your email. Purple Leaf customer service did contact me prior to shipping out the product to ensure that my umbrella type and size would be compatible with the base!

Sturdy.

Great base that is surprisingly already assembled, but requires you to fill it with sand and water. I could not find a funnel with a large enough opening to be practical and the little plastic sheet thing clothes is useless so I ended up putting my sand in a 5 gallon bucket and slowly pouring that in to the reasonably large holes in the two chambers.. that worked really well and at the end I just had to blow/brush off the top since San poured around a bit. It seems really well constructed and much better than the cheap stand that came with my previous umbrella. That was a plastic vanity cover over a couple vinyl sandbags.

This is an excellent base, easy to assemble and, when filled with water, is super stable and heavy enough to hold the PURPLE LEAF 9' X 12' Patio Umbrella securely. We live on the 11th floor with a terrace that gets strong winds. This base never tipped. It did develop a small crack (so only four stars for durability) and when I contacted Purple Leaf customer service by email and sent a picture and order details, I received a quick response and offer to send me a new unit which was shipped the next week at no cost to me. I work with many companies/vendors as part of my job and Purple Leaf is one of the most responsive I've worked with. Five stars for Purple Leaf products and service!
