I can't say enough good things about this soldering iron.I purchased this as I needed a portable soldering iron to take with me as my hakko station isn't the most mobile friendly machine. However since I've purchased the ts80p, other then a single occasion I've found myself using this in place of my hakko even when the hakko is available. It's just so convenient, coupled with a mediocre USB power supply and its a powerful little device.The alternate tips are great, I find them better then the standard one it comes with.Did I mentioned it's completely open source and updating the firmware is simple to do! It was simple to add some flair to it like if I triple tap the tip it will instantly go to standby instead of waiting and when picked up it will heat right back up. It's my dream iron, hackable and capable.

I needed a nice portable soldering iron. This ts80p was always on my list and I finally bought it and am so glad. I use it on cars I work on wiring engine harness and chassis harness. I have a nice 94kwh pd power bank than can soldering for hours. Soldering in 30f weather works great too. I wished it came with a nice carry case, but it's easy to just find one to use my 3d printer to make it.

I added this to my ifixit kit. fits right in
