Great sound shines How did you come up with the idea for this product? Combining light and sound is a great idea and has huge market potential. But when we found that almost all products on the market were miles away from our expectations, especially the sound quality, we decided to do it by ourselves in 2015. Given the fact that the sound is the key and main value of such products, I orgnized a team, which has good expertis in acoustic engineering, to make our dream products. After having gone through an ordeal of R&D, prototyping, pilot run, and mass production, we are so proud that our original idea finally has found its way into real products and really awesome products. What makes your product special? Absolutely it is the sound quality that make our products special and stands out. To make the sound good, we design and tailor-made the 2" full range tweeter for our bulb speakers since our team are specialized in acoustic engineering. Besides the tweeter, we use the best electronic components in the industry for PCB layout, such as bluetooth chip from CSR, Amplifier from Texas Instruments, DSP from AKM, etc. Also we have some know-hows about acoustic engineering, such as the design of Acoustic Guider which not only amplify the sound effect but also protect the tweeter from the heat of LED chips. What has been the best part of your startup experience? One of the best part of experience is from the positive feedbacks of customers. When customers said that our products are much better than their expectations, and when our booth on trade shows were surrounded by visitors who were startled at what they heard, we know that we are doing a right thing and a great thing. All painful experiences are worthwhile. Originally we designed 100% plastic shell for products since most of products on the market do that. But finally we dsicarded the design and the made tooling, changing the upper part of products to be aluminum for better LED heat dissipation. Plastic shell don't dissipate heat well and LED chip won't last long. Obviously finding the right process of making awesome products is also one of the best part of startup experiences.

Best pair of wireless speakers i have bought
I was at a trade show when I first heard these speakers. I was looking around the booth to see where the sound was coming from. To my surprise, we found that it was the bulbs that were actually the speakers. With such amazing sound quality I needed a pair for myself. When I received them the quality was much better than I expected. Screwed them into a standard light socket and I was blasting music through my house like a high end pair of stereo speakers. Easy to hook up and connect to your phone or tablet. I was even able to hook up to my TV via Bluetooth transmitter. Highly recommend to anyone looking to add music to your office or house.

I have an enclosed outdoor patio that I've been trying to find an alternative to wired speakers for. I'd thought that these would be perfect. I get them home, start going through the manual & in print every through out the manual I see basically "don't get wet" kind of everywhere. Like I said my porch is enclosed, but over the summer it gets pretty humid where I'm at so am a little leary to use them as these are pretty expensive to wind up burning them out on a whim. I hooked them up inside just for review purposes, but already have Bluetooth capability with my home theatre system which far surpasses anything that'll come out of these. In a nutshell, I probably should've done my home work a little better, but if you're like me & are looking for a Bluetooth outdoor option you'll want to look elsewhere.

Independently control light and sound with the Lumisound App!
I replaced the bulbs in the ceiling of my wife's office with these and she is thrilled with them. The can configuration is perfect in her office because the cans are equally spaced in the ceiling above her desk about six feet away. She is driving them with her MacBook Air instead of using an iPhone. The only downside to using them this way is that one cannot dim or turn off the lights when driving the speaker lights with a computer. In order to independently operate the lights and speakers, one must use the iPhone app. For this reason, I would recommend driving the speaker lights with a phone or iPad using the Lumisound App.I've attached two screenshots to illustrate how to easily and independently control the light and sound with the Lumisound App. Download this App before you install the lights to ensure the optimal user experience.The sounds is unexpectedly good for tiny speakers embedded in a can light. The stereo separation is good. The treble and midrange are good. The bass response if adequate. The bluetooth drop outs are only occasional.I would recommend these for casual background music in a bedroom, office, or anywhere space is limited. I do wish Lumisound would release an App or Widget for the iMac and Windows computers to better facilitate using the speakers with a desktop or laptop computer.

First version product that can get better with time
Great idea that needs some refinement. These are a great idea for basement can lighting. These do not work in a regular lamp setup, because the light is just on the top of the bulb and the light is directed outward from there. When placed in a lamp, if it can even fit, the light is projected upward and does not provide enough light to be used in a room. We have a finished basement with numerous can lights and put these in two of them. There are some issues with the setup that the company will need to work out over time.1. There is a delay of when you turn on the light switch and when the light turns on.2. Our physical dimmer switch is not working with the lights. I can use the app based dimmer but not the wall dimmer.3. The bulbs needed to be next to each other or sound and functions cut out from time to time. I had the bulbs in light cans that were not next too each other and when I did the sound on the 2nd light (non-master) would keep cutting out. The app based dimmer feature also would not work from time to time. I noticed that when someone walked near or under the 2nd bulb that the sound would cut out, maybe by blocking the signal. With the bulbs in light cans next to each other, the sound and features are more reliable.Some improvements in these 3 areas would greatly improve the user experience. The sound quality is good enough but the sound can fade when you move away from the lights. Directly under the lights the sound is much better than from a small distance. Is the sound good enough? I think so for the price and the usage for my situation. Don't expect top quality sound but for a first version of the light it it good enough for general listening. I placed these under our workout equipment so I can listen to music while on elliptical machine.

Easy to set up with great sound
The LED Lightbulb speakers are pretty cool. We have recessed lighting in our basement and these bulbs do a pretty good job of blending in with the other bulbs. Hooking these bulbs up to our iPhone was very fast. Volume and brightness are all controlled from the app on your device. The sound quality was solid. We were really impressed by these speakers. We don't have a dimmer switch for our recessed lighting so I'm really excited that I now have the option to dim the lights (both are the speaker ones) that are controlled by one of the switches.Depending on where you are planning to use these speaker bulbs you should be aware that they are pretty big and may not fit in certain fixtures that take a standard bulb. They were a bit too big diameter wise to fit in my dining room lighting, but they were perfect for the recessed lighting in my basement. The bulbs also have a bit of weight to them.Overall we're really impressed with them and are glad we gave them a try.
