LOVE these colouring pencils!!
I LOVE these colouring pencils! I bought the tin of 24 and it was worth it! These pencils glide across the paper, they are soft and the colours are so rich. You dont even have to press hard on the paper to get a darker colour! Amazing value for what you get! Highly recommend!

Truly, madly, deeply
I am so in love with these pencils, I am thinking of running away with them. Hubby can keep the house and the dogs, I just want my Chromaflows and my colouring books. The guys who make prismas must be weeping over their coffee. Fabulous colours - check out the Mango - and lovely creamy texture that doesn't crumble, and virtually layers and blends itself. Nice finish on the barrel too. Not as fine as polychromos, but nicer than prismas, which always feel cheaper in the hand than they should. If I had to find fault it would be the lack of reds, which is a tad disappointing and the only areas where prismas win. However, there is a lovely choice of purply pinky shades. Can't leave them alone! I think I have found the perfect pencil at last.

Good Professional Pencils
Great price for good professional Pencils. Good assortment of Colours, layer nicely and easy to sharpen. My 27 Year old Daughter was delighted to get them for her Design Work.

Fast, fun and forgiving but a bit expensive for what they are.
I'd bought a few of these open stock to try before I got the full set. I was impressed by how easily they sharpened to a point, laid down colour and blended easily by just overlaying the pencils. You can scribble layers quite roughly and still get a good result-unlike with my harder professional sets - and get a finished piece fast. Although they wear down fast. I've knocked a star off because you have to download the colour chart and lightfastness info from Derwent's website and because there are more than I expected with a lower lightfastness. This is a pity as they are good for mixed media use over water based media. I'm not too unhappy as I wanted them for studies and sketchbooks where fading isn't an issue. However they aren't cheap so a budding artist may do better with a 24 set of these and a small set of high-end pencils for the money. ( I like Polychromos.) These are fast, fun and forgiving and don't need blenders or solvent so would be great for kids but are a bit overpriced unless you can find a good deal on them.

Chromoflow pencils
Love these pencils. Bought the 12 set to see how they performed. I was very pleased so went on to buy the full set. Lots of colours to choose from. Very smooth when colouring with them. Blend beautifully and can get lots of layers out of them. Would highly recommend

Lovely soft pencils - easy to blend - high quality
Just received this 72 set of coloured pencils. Thanks Amazon for such speedy service. Received in less than a week from the U.K. to Canada with standard delivery! These coloured pencils from Derwent are good quality. I had the 24 set and it’s definitely worth it to have expanded it to 72. Lots of lovely greys in the set. All the colours are rich and blend extremely well. Plus although not all are lightfast, they have been tested for lightfastness so artists can use them to sell their art. The only drawback I’ve had with the 24 set was some breakage. Make sure to use a very good quality sharpener with a sharp blade and sharpen gently. All in all though, I’m satisfied with their performance. They need to come out with singles so you don’t have to buy a whole set to replace a pencil. I do want to add that I bought these when there was a terrific markdown. Just lucky I guess. At the original price, I do think these are too expensive. Best to wait a bit for the price to come down.

A good value set of soft/wax based true artist grade colouring pencils
This is a set of 150 true artist grade (lightfast information available and can be bought singly as open stock) colouring pencils. They are very much at the soft (often termed wax based) end of the spectrum with the usual pros and cons of softer colouring pencils, namely that they lay down thick with opaque pigment, but produce more crumbs and do not hold a point for long so are less good for fine details. As with other good soft pencils you are not recommended to try and sharpen to a long ultra fine point and will get occasional point breakages if you do this. Unlike cheaper soft colouring pencils these have good pigment, thick cores and are not prone to excessive wax bloom, and the availability of open stock reduces the cost in the long term. These are also cheaper than other soft true artist grade pencils such as Prismacolor, Holbein Artist or Caran D'ache Luminance at the time of writing making them good value. I would add that soft and hard colouring pencils are not better or worse than each other, just different, and it comes to personal preference, or many people will end up with a set of both using the soft for intense colour and the hard for fine detail. These come in a tin with 3 plastic trays arranged in colour number order, pre-sharpened to a blunt point. The trays have sufficient edge to protect the pencils in transit, but for routine use you will probably want to decant them to a case with loops. The order they are in is workable with although some mild reordering may be required for optimal use - see the attached swatch with a mild reorder, done on 120gsm Daler & Rowney Simply Drawing paper as 1, 2 and 3 light layers and a heavy layer (do note colours will be more intense than this swatch on premium papers like Pastelmat or Bristol Vellum, and less intense on cheap paper). Colour names and numbers are engraved on each pencil in gold on black and are clearly readable. There is a painted end to each pencil to indicate the colour, but as is common the colours are not all an exact match to the paint and initial swatching is recommended. All 150 pencils sharpened well (to a medium point suitable for the pencil softness) with no cracked cores or split wood. There is a good range of colours with minimal duplication, although some people may wish for slightly more skin tones and greys. I have been very happy with this purchase and they are a pleasure to use. I would not hesitate to recommend these.

Disappointed
I really wanted to love these pencils but I found the quality disappointing. Most of the pencil cores are not centered, the coating seems to have a tendency to chip off and some have an uneven roughness to them. One pencil even has a streak of the coating going right to the core. The colour indicator dips are great and I’ve had no problems with quality on them. They are quite a soft pencil and don’t hold a point as much as I would like but that is a me thing not a pencil problem. Great range of colours.
