🌲 Cut the Noise, Not the Trees!
The Portland 9 Amp 14 in. Electric Chainsaw combines a powerful motor with a low kickback design, making it the perfect tool for efficient limbing and pruning of branches up to 14 inches in diameter, all while operating quietly.

Great saw for the price
The only reason I cannot give this little dynamo 5 stars is the chain comes off....a lot. However this saw chewed threw an oak tree I had in the front yard like nobody’s business. There is nothing better for the price.

Chain saw for backyard
Bought this to thin pine trees and around rhe yard. Yes I think was inexpensive and dud not expect to last more then two projects. It runs great and cuts whatever I feed it. The only issue you can not keep the chain on the thing. It is so undependable. It looks like the chain and bar do not line up with the drive sprocket. Wondering if I can take drive spocket off and add a spacer?

Small saw that will do the work
We bought this saw to do some limb trimming and it has done a great job. we even cut out a 18 in stump. My neighbor has used it more than I have.

Powerful, economical, but a huge design flaw makes it dangerous
Pros: power, price, wieghtCons: NOISY, design flaw means chain constantly loosening/hopping off barThis thing ought to be a good product, but it isn't unless you modify it. The chain tension depends upon the chain bar staying in a proper position, but the whole mechanism is held in alignment by a single bolt. No matter how much you tighten it, the chain bar wiggles out of its proper position and the chain looses tension after a couple of minutes use. Really annoying, only really safe if you modify the housing...and why should you have to?

Plastic gear and loose bar
As noted by other reviewers, significant design flaws limit both the overall utility and the lifespan (which, incidentally, is somewhere on the order of a monarch butterfly, given that it reached the end of the line in under 7 months of light use) of this saw. That said, it worked reasonably well while it was doing so, other than the annoying propensity for the bar to loosen/slip given its one (!) securing bolt.

JUNK ZERO STARS, NOT WORTH ONE.
The chain continuously comes off. I used it once, and cut some small bushes with it. The chain came off. I put the chain on tight, attempted to use it a second time on small tree limbs and the chain came off. This is junk, selling it is a fraud, a rip off. This is an embarrassment.

PLASTIC idler gear between the metal motor gear and the metal chain gear
I bought one of these long enough ago for the 90 day warranty to be long forgotten. It worked well enough to begin with, then after some relatively intermittent uses the chain began to slip & ultimately stopped altogether under even a slight load. Looking inside, I found plastic shavings everywhere and the remains of a ~4 inch PLASTIC idler gear between the metal motor gear and the metal chain gear. Metal teeth against plastic teeth. No way the plastic is going to last. The metal gear teeth ate up the plastic gear teeth. It's not worth the money.

Don't waste your money or time
Piece of junk Has plastic sproket gear to metal gear that will quickly wear out the plastic. Cannot get spare parts anywhere. Cannot even find the Portland tool company.
