How deep must water be? Will it stop if water gets too low or will motor burn up?

My birdbath is about two and a half inches deep and the pump works fine. I don’t know the answer to your second question, though I suspect it would be bad for the motor to keep trying to pump when there’s no water. I don’t believe it will automatically stop.

Should the tubes/spray attachments be threaded so they screw on? Mine don’t and come loose from water pressure.

mine did not come off with water pressure as they fit securely when attached.
