Pennies (Dollar) [Winters, Pepper] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Pennies (Dollar) Review: I'D BET EVERY PENNY I HAVE ON HOW GOOD THIS ENTIRE SERIES IS - THIS REVIEW IS SPOILER-FREE REVIEW OF THE ENTIRE SERIES I have read the entire DOLLAR series, not just this book. Because the series is so exceptional, I've chosen to leave my review here at the beginning of the series for benefit of all you who may be influenced to read all the books. Let me say that usually choosing one of Ms. Winters' series or tragic couples as a favorite over another is like deciding which of your children you like better. An impossible task. Yet as much as I love Pepper's writing, I do not love all her books equally, even though I love them all. In this case, I can say unequivocally that this book joins a select few in rising to the top of my favs list. PENNIES sets the foundation for the tortured and winding path to romance for captive sex slave PIM and her hero lover, the dark and complicated ELDER PREST, a character from a past series. Elder is the unlikely hero who discovers her predicament and rescues her from unimaginable hell. Each book in the series delves deeper into these characters, their relationship, their past and future, and the villains close behind during their slowly evolving love story. Believe me when I say this couple works harder than any previous couple by this author for their chance at an HEA. The next book HUNDREDS was the hardest for me, as we witness the grotesque brutuality, cruelty, depravity and horrors that have been forced upon Pim for 2 years. There was no way out for her until Elder enters the picture, and when he does and eventually rescues her, it does not mean the end of Pim's woes or fears. You will cringe during this book for sure and some of it feels too hard to take, but stick it out. It will be well worth it. Elder's wealth and protection of Pim then take them on a geographical and emotional journey of healing and situations they never imagined. We even reunite eventually with some of our favorite characters of the past in the latter books. Pepper's other darkest series -- Monsters in the Dark and The Indebted series don't hold a candle in some ways to the darkness and depravity and personal catharses in this series. It is a completely different experience that never gives us time to stop and take a breath in its relentless and shocking race to conclusion. I kept thinking that Pepper would run out of storyline or stagnate the process, but that never happened. Hands down, the series exemplifies Pepper's finest dark creativity and demonstrates just how organically she can evolve a story without being repetitive. I felt every pebble and tear of this journey and have no desire to give any aspect of it away. Let yourself be swept up in the ruined lives of damaged souls and the healing that comes from love, patience and sacrifice. Read it as I did, completely fresh without spoilers from reviews, and just enjoy the couple's beguiling journey from book to book. I will read this amazing series many times over and wholeheartedly recommend it. Review: Very intriguing and dark first book to a new series. - "Freedom. I had it. But then. I lost it. Murdered, resuscitated, and sold." Never thought I would read a book part of a 5-part series. Normally I stay away from them because of the cliffhangers and the long waiting. I also find 3 or more books in a series focusing on one couple to be very long. However the synopsis of Pennies really intrigued me and had me thinking that I should give this one a chance. I made a promise to myself that I should get out of my reading comfort zone and try new things. "A penny for your thoughts, girl." Pennies is about Tasmin, who is kidnapped and sold as a sex slave. She is bought by one sick individual who does the most disgusting things to her. My heart broke for her! Even though she is being beaten, raped and tortured, she is still her fighting back and finds a way to cope with her situation. I was amazed by her way of surviving even though some days it was harder than others. "I'm not the hero in this story, Pimlico. I'm another villain. You'd do best to remember that." Then we have Elder, a very mysterious "bad" guy. I have so many questions about him that I need answers to. One moment he is a bad guy that wants to do bad things and other times he is almost a "good" guy. I have no idea what he is up to but I am intrigued! I have a thing for villains so I have no doubt that I will eventually fall in love with him. "You're worth pennies, but I'll make you worth millions." I really enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to the rest of the series. I loved that we didn't get too much of a background on the characters, because sometimes I get bored by them. We jumped right into the story and continued from there which I can appreciate as a reader. There was one scene that was a bit too long and had me skipping lines. Overall Pennies is a great start to a new dark series. The writing is great, the plot is interesting and the characters are intriguing.

Very intriguing and dark first book to a new series.

Super Brutal, Dark, Deep, and Desperately Addictive
Pepper Winters knows how to grab a reader in a chokehold and completely captivate them with her storytelling. "Pennies" had me riveted and reading with an addiction-like intensity. The characters are thoroughly drawn and the storyline is complex and fast-paced. This is a Dark Romance - though not much "romancing" happens in this first book of the five book Dollar series. There is a lot of very descriptive violence, physical abuse, emotional abuse, but not very descriptive sexual abuse. Though it's heinousness is conveyed. This novel is not for the faint of heart. Also, it's a cliffhanger. The Heroine is Tasmin/Pimlico a strong young woman who undergoes horrific life experiences. Alrik, is the villain, a self absorbed, sadistic man who owns Pim. Elder, the Dark Hero, who although he doesn't want to get involved he is inexplicably drawn to Pim and against his better judgment comes to her aid. "Pennies" is definitely a Dark Romance, it's more about the Attraction and Chemistry between Elder and Pimlico than Romance. Elder is definitely a Dark Hero, he doesn't want to rescue Pimlico at all. In fact, he wants to leave her - allow her to die rather than take her with him. He's truly angry with himself that he can't stop thinking about her. Pepper Winters gives herself a humongous challenge in having a main character who does not speak - no dialog. Only internal monologuing. No one knows what she's thinking because she won't communicate with them, however, we are given a character, Elder, who can. Like Pimlico, over time Elder learned to watch and observe people so he's able to see what Pimlico is saying. Despite the brutality of the novel it is intensely enthralling and I couldn't put it down. So much happens in the characters heads that it's almost a psychological thriller. This is novel has a cliffhanger ending and there are five books in the Dollar series - be warned. This book is fantastic the angels are demons and the saviors just want to save themselves. This novel is delicious!!! To read the entire review please visit: [...] This novel was provided. Voluntarily read, and reviewed without bias.

Great read
It's actually baffling that a book where the FMC doesn't speak AT ALL, can be this good. Like, she doesn't even nod her head for acknowledgement or anything. HOW does the author do it?? When you read you can really feel the despair the FMC is experiencing. And the chemistry between her and the MMC. I absolutely love it. Diving right into the second book! 4,75/5⭐️ 4,5/5📝 1,5/5🌶

Dark and Intense!
Genre: Dark Romance Book Length: Novel POV: Dual Male Lead: Elder is a wealthy, powerful and mysterious man. He has black hair and black eyes and is in his late 20s/early 30s presumably. He’s tall, muscular and has unique tattoos. Female Lead: Pimlico/Tasmin is only 18 when she’s abducted and sold into sexual slavery. She spends 2 years in the hands of an evil monster. She has dark hair and green eyes. Heat Level: Low Frequency of Sex (1-5): 0 Angst Level (1-5): 4 Standalone/Series/Cliffhanger: Cliffhanger; Series Epilogue: No Other Notables/Triggers: Sexual abuse, torture and violence Would I Recommend? Yes My Review: I love Pepper Winters and I can tell this series is going to be intense! There isn’t much to say about Pennies; it’s an introduction to Pimlico’s sad and torturous life. We meet Elder Prest and he’s a total mystery. He’s darkly handsome and enigmatic and I can’t wait to unravel what makes him tick. This book is full of inner dialogue and was interesting but progresses very slow. The last 20% is the most intense and of course ends on a cliffhanger, so I’m starting Dollars immediately!

A very worth it Rollercoaster of emotions!
It took me so long to finally read Pennies, I was a little scared at first lol but I'm so glad I finally found my way.. What a rollercoaster of emotions with Pennies but it was so worth it.. whatever you think will happen, think twice because it will never happen that's how Pepper Winters make us so intrigued and hooked for this series.. so many twists and turns that you won't see them coming but really worth it and make this story a great ride.. "This is not a fairytale. This is a black abyss that must be climbed blind before deserving the light. Read at your own peril." This is a story of two lost souls who happen to find themselves in the worst possible circumstances. he doesn't know much about her and she doesn't know much about him.. she doesn't want anyone to know more about her, she is hiding all her secrets and her past.. but he is not giving up, his only goal is to save her and help her find her lost soul again.. “You’re worth pennies, but I’ll make you worth millions. However, what I expect in return will be unpayable.” This is the story of Pim, a beautiful 18-year-old who was robbed of any reason to live.. she had it all and lost it all.. now she doesn't even know who she is anymore, she has been fighting for her life for so many years that she is having a hard time to believe again. “When does living become the wrong choice and death the right one? When does taking your own life become wiser than letting someone else destroy it?” Elder a dangerous man who had a very rough start in life. he didn't trust in anybody, and everybody fears him, he didn't give too much but take too much, he lives of taking from others, he was a master of taking precious valuable things... but nothing that money can buy.. what he wants doesn't have a price but it has a name and a past.. and sooner or later he will have her all.. “I wanted into her mind…and if I had to hurt her to achieve that. I would.” The story of Elder Prest, Kaitou and Pimlico aka Pim starts slowly not knowing where these two will end up, their attraction and chemistry are there, we can feel it since the very first time they meet.. even if both kept making up lies and excuses hiding behind their own silence and fears. “I would remember him always. He would forget me tomorrow.” Pennies was a great start of the Dollars series, I have to say I'm completely hooked, I devoured the book, and I got addicted to the characters, the story, everything!! Now, I'm eager to know what is going to happen!! And yes I have to know more about Elder because so far that guy is Everything!!!! let me give you an advice. Don't Quit!!!! the first chapters of the book will make you want to kill some of the characters and maybe throw your kindle a few times But believe me it was worth it!! read this book!! "A penny for your thoughts, silent one. Perhaps today you'll speak."

It's very hard to read and I think the brutality is not necessarily a good thing..
I think, because I have read her work before, that Pepper could have the same results without some of the brutality she details of. I have enjoyed another of her series and absolutely hated two others. However, this has a young woman that reminds me of Tess in the Monsters of the dark series. This was the one I really enjoyed. The indebted series was actually the worst I have read and didn't finish it. Once a myth, Goddess Isles, was so outlandish I didn't go past the first book. I am, so for, interested in the outcome of this series because Pim is so strong and doesn't ever give in! I admire her and although Elder is not a good guy he seems to have insight so I'm going to see how this progresses. Unfortunately Pepper is inconsistent with her books which frustrates me because it seems she is trying to shock us with how much we can take. It's not necessarily a good thing because I love the darkest of dark reads but with a purpose. She is a talented writer and although I am Leary of her motives I hope she can bring us more Peppers and Pim's and less Nila Weaver's like indebted and less medical science fiction as in Goddess Isles. I agree its important not to go overboard with romance because its sex slavery however she does this in other series. Because she's inconsistent with her books I gave this a 4. However, I'm not disappointed because of Pim. My heart aches for her and I am hoping for him also...it's worth reading even though we might disagree with books I didn't like I am glad I'm reading this series because this is why I originally loved her writing in Monsters in the dark...I'm very glad I made this choice.

PENNY FOR YOUR THOUGHTS?
First off wtf wtf wtf!!!???? FAIR WARNING THIS IS DARK! ⚠️ TRIGGER WARNING ⚠️ I just finished the book, my heads still spinning from everything I just read! The book starts off when Tasmin is just 18 years old living a normal life. While attending a formal event with her mother, she is kidnapped. Tas does everything to survive and get out of this situation even offering to buy her own freedom while they are auctioning her off. She's lost everything, her old life, her freedom, even her name. Pimlico is her new name, in this new world. They may have stolen everything from her, but the one thing she had control over, that she refused to give her new Master, was her voice. Pim goes mute after being sold. In this book we get to hear Pim as she silently talks to No One. Master A brings a man not involved in the trafficking world over for business. What happens when he notices something off about the entire situation with Pim? She may be mute, but he's itching to read her thoughts. What happens when he offers her a penny for her thoughts? Can he eventually get her to break? This book does end on a semi-cliffhanger. It left off in a good spot though, you won't be wanting to kill someone til you pick up the next book!
