I just got a lovely new 9 1/2" chef's knife, but couldn't safely put it in to the drawer. Now I can! Admittedly I had to cut about an inch off the flat end so it would fit in the drawer, but with a hacksaw and some sandpaper that was easy. I also used the second one to protect another knife I was keeping in it's original packaging. As you can see both fit a treat. I noticed that a couple of people said that they had still cut themselves but this is because the knife doesn't go in the obvious way round. The slot in these is wider at the closed side, so it is easy to think that the fatter part of the knife goes here but this is not correct. The function of the sheath is to cover sharp knives and make them safe, so the blade must go on the closed side and the spine of the knife - the blunt part - goes on the open side (see photos). This also helps the sheath to grip the knife better. It would be really helpful if this were explained in the advertisement as these are excellent but if they are used incorrectly people can still get badly cut.

It remains to be seen how these last as I have just received these this review is my initial thoughts. So when I ordered these I stupidly didn't measure all my knives but in my professional work set this mixed bunch of sizes was perfect for my needs. There is a guard for each blade I own. They slide on and feel very secure on my blades. The reason for purchase was I have just upgraded my knife roll and I didn't want my blades touching in the roll and these are a perfect solution. As stated it remains to be seen how they last with daily use on and off blades but for the price these are a great product.

Great cover for my very sharp bread knife

It does the job well enough, but a medium to heavy cleaver is thick enough that the guard is just barely clinging on. I gave it as a gift along with a cleaver, and the recipient reported they almost cut themselves as the guard slipped off in transport. Good enough to keep the edge from getting wrecked in a drawer if you're careful.

Works well, does not hold on well for thin knives but works for every other knife

Very simple. Hard plastic. Put your knife in the groove and its edge is protected and so are you. I guess they could cost less given how simple they are, but relative to the competition they're a good buy.
