Absolutely worth the price
I bought 3 different masks before buying this one as the price really did put me off. The cheaper silk one I could still see light through in the eye area and the other two had bands that slipped or felt to flimsy and you could see light from under the nose. So I took the plunge and bought this one and I do not regret it one bit. It is comfortable, the band around is fixed with sturdy Velcro so stays in place and fits you. Plus it’s adjustable easily. The feel of it on your skin is so soft and smooth. It blocks out all of the light (I went for Grey colour). It doesn’t damage my hair but neither does it ride up and I have naturally long but quite fine hair. You know you have it on but it isn’t heavy and cumbersome, actually I would say it’s quite calming. I don’t often bother with these Amazon “reviews” but I actually wanted to help someone else who wasn’t sure or who was having difficulty justifying the price. I am happy and do believe it is worth it in comparison to others that I tried. Hope this helps. 👍🏻

best sleep mask I've used
I cannot sleep with any degree of light in the bedroom and have used various masks over the years. This mask, although really expensive, must be regarded as a necessary investment. This is the best mask that I've ever used. The adjustment at the back means that it will never feel too tight or loose and the design allows one to position the mask so there is no pressure on the back of your head if you sleep on your back. The mask is large enough that there is no light leakage no matter what position you sleep in. And then there is the comfort; the fabric and the filling are superb in this regard. I've never used such a wide mask before and it took me a couple of nights to adjust to that, but I now find it incredibly comfortable.

Biohacker’s Verdict: Supports Melatonin Optimisation (with pro-Tips for a 100% All-Night Blackout)
💤 Overview: The Sanctuary of Total Darkness In a world that never truly goes dark, sleep has become the ultimate biological luxury. The DROWSY Silk Sleep Mask is not merely a piece of bedding; it is a sensory-deprivation chamber for the face. Having owned this mask since 2020 - purchased then for £42.07 - I have watched its retail value climb to £69. Despite the price hike, the mask has stood up remarkably well to the passage of time. It remains one of the few tools capable of delivering a 100% blackout environment that mimics the prehistoric darkness our biology craves. However, at this premium price point, it is essential that users employ specific "hacks" to ensure they receive a full return on this significant investment. Pros and Cons ✅ Pros • Total Blackout: Defeats external LED pollution and internal electronic glows for deep-phase sleep. • Proven Durability: Maintains structural integrity and silk loft over years of use (tested since 2020). • Pressure Distribution: Padded "cloud" design prevents the intraocular pressure common with thin, elastic masks. • Hypoallergenic Silk: Breathable 22 Momme silk preserves skin moisture and protects the eye area. • Emotional Comfort: The "padded cocoon" feel provides a psychological sense of security and calm. ❌ Cons • High Entry Cost: At £69, it is a significant investment compared to standard silk masks. • Slippage Risk: Low-friction silk and padded weight can lead to the mask sliding to the neck for active sleepers. • Thermal Mass: Thick padding can cause facial overheating if the room isn't strictly climate-controlled. • Maintenance Intensive: Requires specialised care to prevent the high-quality silk from degrading. 🔍 The Biohacker’s Analysis 1. Light Blockage and the Modern Environment In 2026, high-intensity streetlights and neighbor’s security LEDs frequently bleed through even the best blackout curtains. This mask provides the final, impenetrable barrier to a natural sleep environment. Furthermore, it shields the pineal gland from the "micro-pollution" of our own homes - the standby glows of routers and the blue-light phantoms of charging phones. Achieving 100% blackout is non-negotiable for reaching deep REM sleep. 2. The Shiftworker’s Necessity For the shiftworker, the challenge is even more personal and biological. Trying to sleep during the day is a direct war against your body's natural circadian drive. This mask serves as a vital tactical tool for nurses, first responders, and night-shift professionals, artificially forcing the "biological night" required to achieve rest when the rest of the world is awake and loud. 3. Materials and Marketing Skepticism Constructed from 22 Momme Mulberry Silk, the mask is luxurious but requires a critical distinction regarding beauty claims. While the silk protects your delicate eye area from sleep wrinkles and prevents overnight serums from being absorbed by bedding, it is a localised tool. For full-face protection and hair-frizz prevention, a silk pillowcase or bonnet is a more efficient investment. 4. The "Staying Asleep" Challenge (Slippage) A significant hurdle is maintenance throughout the night. I am an active sleeper and I sometimes wake with the mask around my neck. If the mask slips at 4:00 AM, the biohacking benefit is lost as light triggers a premature cortisol spike. 💡Tip: Position the strap higher toward the crown of your head (the occipital bone) rather than the base of the skull to anchor it. Ensure your room is cooled to 18°C (65°F) to avoid micro-overheating, which often leads to unconscious removal. 5.💡 Advanced Optimisation Tips for Maximum ROI • The Hygiene Protocol: To protect your skin and the silk, commit to a strict 14-day wash cycle. Always use a silk-optimised, pH-neutral detergent; standard detergents contain enzymes that "digest" silk proteins, destroying the fabric's integrity over time. 🫧 • Sound-Blocking Synergy: The mask’s wide straps cover the ears almost entirely. It acts as a perfect secondary anchor for foam earplugs or flat sleep headphones, creating a true "sensory deprivation tank" that shields you from the world. ✅ Verdict The DROWSY Silk Sleep Mask is an elite sleep aid for the "induction phase" of rest, effectively silencing the visual noise of the modern world. It offers that coveted moment of total sanctuary, allowing you to drift off in a state of absolute darkness. However, its effectiveness as a long-term sleep maintenance tool is contingent on your ability to anchor it securely. For the dedicated biohacker, it is a formidable component of a sleep stack - provided you prioritise room cooling and proper silk-safe care. ❤️

Long hair beware
Okay so this sleep mask takes a little getting used to because it’s thick, that’s not the catch though. While it blocks out light very well, and the silk feels very nice, it is unfortunately, very obvious that these were designed by men. The way that the velcro snags on hair is NO JOKE. If you sleep with your hair in a braid, it’ll pull half your hair out when trying to take it off. Doesn’t matter if you undo it or try to slide it off. A little better if you wear your hair on top of your head, but proceed with caution!

The best eye mask
I rave about this product daily. The best eye-mask on the market. The price is on the more expensive side but worth every penny. The satin material helps the mask stay cool all day/night. It helps that they’re so soft too. They’re so good at blocking light, super effective. I’ve used them for when I’ve had migraines, hayfever/itchy eyes (stops the irritation), and for general good sleep.

5 Stars – A Game-Changer for Light Sleepers in the Land of the Midnight Sun
I need silence, the perfect cool temperature, and total darkness to stand a chance of getting anywhere near 8 hours of sleep. In summertime here in Northumberland, the sun barely sets—it’s down by 11pm and already rising again by 2:30am—so getting proper rest has always been a challenge. This mask has genuinely revolutionised my sleep pattern. I’ve tried countless sleep masks over the years and ended up binning them all. Most either slip off or sit awkwardly on the bridge of my nose, especially as I have a smaller-sized head—something most masks just don’t seem to accommodate. But this one stays put and feels blissfully weightless while still blocking out every bit of light. It doesn’t make me feel hot (essential, as I keep my bedroom cool for sleep), and it doesn’t interfere with my face serum—no stickiness, no marks, just total comfort. I bought the cheapest colour because I couldn’t see the point in spending more just for a different shade—and honestly, I’m glad I did. It’s the comfort and function that matter, and this delivers both flawlessly. Yes, it’s a splurge—but for me, it’s absolutely worth it. I’ve finally found a sleep mask that works, and I’m sleeping better than I have in years.

New design not as good. They got rid of the best feature - the nose wire!
I suffer from M.E and have always slept badly with frequent boughts of insomnia. I have long been looking for a decent eyemask to help improve sleep at night, to allow me to sleep in in the mornings when I have been awake all night and to allow me to rest during the day when needed. This is way out of my price league as a mask, but when I sleep poorly, all of my pain and symptoms are exacerbated and my mental health declines. I bought this out of desperation, knowing it could be returned if it didn't work out. I mention this to emphasise how meaningful a good quality and functional sleep mask is, how much I loved the original design and how upset I am with the new design. I purchased one of these masks January 2021. At first I was unsure about it as I found it uncomfortable for back sleeping initially and found it quite large and claustraphobic. I was unsure about it wrapping around my ears. However, the back flattened out nicely with use and became very comfortable and I became used to the size of it. I sleep with ear plugs anyway, but the covering of the ears by the mask adds a small amount of additional sound blocking, which is good as I live in a noisy area. I was concerned the mask may feel hot during the summer being so big and bulky, but it wasn't a problem at all (which is the main benefit of silk, it is breathable and temperature regulating. I have had synthetic masks that are hot and suffocating and therefore intefere with rest). I didn't notice it at all during a heat wave, which is amazing. After a few months, I fell in love with the mask and it became the best eye mask I had ever had. One of the key reasons for this, besides the lovely soft material, was the nose wire. The nose wire allows you to squeeze the mask around your nose to fit your particular face shape, which then stays in place and creates a full black out. Squeezing it too tightly can be uncomfortable, but there is a sweet spot between comfort and blocking out all/as much light as possible, which I found with practice. I found this to be a genius feature and wondered why it had taken manufacturers so long to come up with this idea. Every other eye mask I've ever had has let light in around the nose/cheeks area, which wakes me up at sunrise. Finally a solution was found and this made the mask worth every penny. I always hand washed my mask, but one day in December 2021, as I was particularly exhausted, I decided to put it through a delicates wash in the washing machine at 30 degrees as it directs in the care instructions. Much to my dismay, my precious mask came out with the nose wire having been dislodged from the little inner tube pockets it sits in and was now sitting to one side of the nose area, rather than over it. Without the wire, the area around the nose had a large gap that let light in. A stressed out, sleepless night followed. Feeling very ill the next day, I decided I couldn't live without a functional mask, so inspite of the extortionate price increase and being completely broke, I immediately ordered a replacement for same day delivery on Amazon Prime. Sadly when it arrived, I was shocked to discover that they had changed the design (with no mention of this on the product page or website) and no longer had nose wires!!!! I was absolutely flabbergasted by this, as to me this was the best feature of the mask that actually made it functional and set it apart from all others. They have changed the shape and size of the mask too. The nose slit is now longer and narrower and the mask is a bit longer itself as well. This is an attempt to compensate for removing the nose wire by creating a shape that better blocks the light out on its own without the wire - no doubt because other customers were having the same issue as myself with the nose wire becoming detached in the wash. If you lay on your back and do the mask up quite tightly, it does indeed fully block the light out. That is until you roll onto your side, at which point large gaps occur and it no longer blocks anything out. The narrow nose slit pinches uncomfortably at first, but softens up with a few hours of wear. What is annoying however, is that to block the light out, I have to pull the mask down quite far, to the point where it is touching my lips, which is not very comfortable. And as soon as you move, the light gets in anyway. It's great that the new design now comes in a range of colours as originally only navy blue was available. Black is my favourite colour, so I appreciate having this option, I just wish they hadn't changed the design. What is also evident when comparing the old mask to the new, is that the new mask is a lot more full and pillowy, which is how the first mask started out. Clearly it gets flattened out with use. Not the end of the world as it doesn't effect it's functionality, it just looks less luxurious and high quality than when you first unbox it and feels a little less relaxing. The new design also no longer comes with a matching silk travel pouch. It is unbelievable that the price has gone up by £11 in less than a year and yet they have actually taken away features! You are now paying much more and get less! It was already incredibly expensive to begin with! It's a lovely quality mask, but if it can't block out the light it doesn't fulfill the function it is supposed to serve. Also, the whole silk being anti-ageing thing is nonsense. There is no evidence that wearing silk has any anti-ageing benefits on the skin. In fact I wake up with crease marks from wearing this mask, as is the case with all eye masks. Silk may wrinkle your skin slightly less deeply that rougher materials, but it will still cause some creasing of the skin. It's main benefits are temperature regulation, dust mite resistance and being soft and comfortable against the skin. It's also very lightweight. These are great benefits of silk by themselves, without having to make outlandish claims about silk proteins absorbing into your skin. I become mistrustful of any company that makes such claims. As the new design of mask does not block out the light and is not as comfortable as the original design, I will be returning it for a refund. You cannot charge £60 for a mask that doesn't block out the light! If they return to the old design, it would be a 5 star product and I will gladly purchase more masks to make sure I always have a spare. Luckily my partner managed to get the wire back into place on my original mask and comparing the old design to the new design, it is clear the old design is better in every way. I just hope it lasts because I am lost without it!
