Converts a "4 pin molex" (1.44 floppy) into *two* Sata power connectors.
In mini-itx systems and some servers there may be an issue where one is left with an "extra" power connector that fits an old-style 1.44 floppy, but have no devices to use it with. Additionally, one might also have a sata device (usually an optical drive) that is one power connector short. Normally one just gets a y-splitter and All Is Well, but depending on where the device is located, sometimes that option wouldn't work - particularly on servers where the distance between devices might be quite long. The solution is to use an adapter to "convert" the 4 pin molex connector into a standard sata power connector, but FINDING such an adapter isn't all that easy. With the possible exception of something similar for the Dell MX714 server, these adapters seem to be hard to find in the US. In Europe however, these adapters are common enough to be almost falling from the sky. In fact, another possible adapter can be ordered here via Amazon Global Store UK (ASIN:B018NKPZVW). I am tempted to try ordering these, but went with the xinyuansu as it doesn't have to cross the Atlantic to get here. (Note: I Ordered the other ones as well - see bottom of review for update.)This particular xinyuansu adapter converts the little 4 pin molex power connector into *two* standard sata power connectors. Additionally, you get an (detachable) adapter to convert one of the standard sata power connectors into the older style 4-pin d-shaped power connector used for older IDE hard drives, etc.As I would be using just a single sata optical device, can always tie off the "extra" sata connector, but the down-side is that the quality on one of these might be a bit iffy. I ordered two of these, and one seems to have an extra black piece of rubber (?) attached to the wiring behind the first sata connector. It appears to be just "extra rubber" (?) and not a sliver sliced off one of the wires, but I will have to give it a REALLY close examination prior to using it. All told, this kind of adapter is good to have on hand as it's better to be prepared than to end up one power connector short.Minor Update: I was curious about the other version (ASIN:B018NKPZVW) so I ordered three of those.Verdict: Quality wise, the xinyuansu XinYS adapters are *much better* than the "Delock" version. Plus of the three "Delocks" I ordered, one of them arrived in.. ..questionable condition, so I gather that international shipping did not agree with it. As the XinYS ones are "local" - go with XinYS.
