Nice well-built cooking burners that get the job done fast!
My range finally gave up and I'm not ready to chose a new one yet, so I researched single burners to get through the summer since everything pretty much gets cooked on the Blackstone anyway. I chose this burner because of how well designed and built it seemed to be. I'm happy to say that it's fabulous. I ordered two, but one was obviously used, so sent it back and Amazon exchanged it at no cost to me. I don't put up with receiving used products when I've paid for new. The second burner was new and perfect and works just as nicely as the first one. If water drips on the burner, don't leave it. You need to wipe it down asap because it's cast iron and will rust. Don't touch when hot though because it gets super hot, super fast. Way faster than the burners on my stove ever did. The burners take also quite a while to cool down again for the same reason, they're cast iron and hold on to the heat, which is nice for keeping things warm. Rust might be a problem in a humid climate and I probably wouldn't use them around little kids who can't be trusted to leave them alone because that's just an accident waiting to happen. Other than those two things, I think these burners are just about perfect. We've cooked several times with them and so far, so good. Love them and would highly recommend them for use in the appropriate circumstances.

Easy dependable countertop burner. Company trustworthy
I love this burner. Rarely do I use my traditional stove to cook. Why? This burner even on the min setting i get a full boil. Cooking is even. Size is plenty and sturdy. I have not cooked for a large fsmily but this is an easy fix and cheaper than running my traditional stove. I settled on Cuisinart because of my life experience that it is a good solid company to trust. No noise. Temp control steady. Installation a breeze. Read instructions. Clean as recommended. Heats up quickly.

A great portable cooktop
Bought this as a last resort to buy some time before replacing our defective out-of-warranty LG range. Overall, this works really well and has been a great help in our kitchen. It heats reliably and is easy to move around as needed. Having two burners is nice. My main criticisms are that it takes a while to heat up (especially the smaller burner). It also stays hot for quite a while, so you need to anticipate that when lowering the temperature on what you're cooking. Also the entire metal top gets quite hot to the touch, not just the burners themselves, so be careful! Ultimately, I wouldn't want to have to rely on this forever, but it's a great, inexpensive solution whether you need extra cooking surfaces or, like us, are dealing with a lemon of a "real" range that you can't replace immediately.

Cuisinart CB-30P1 Cast-Iron Single Burner, Stainless Steel
What can I say? It's a Cuisinart! Yes, I am sold on Cuisinart products! They have not failed me yet! (I've had my blender/food processor/chopper since 1990, and it is still going strong!) I needed a 2nd table-top burner. When I saw this one, (even though I could have gotten a cheaper one) , I knew this would be the better purchase. I have bought Cuisinart products in the past and have been very pleased with my purchases. The quality and performance alone is worth it to me! This burner has a normal weight, not too heavy, it is as described. 😁 It's definitely worth every cent! The only draw back is that I got the chrome top, instead of black. Chrome (for me) is harder to keep clean than the black. 😁. That was my mistake, not the fault of Cuisinart. 😁 It does clean up well, it just takes a little more work. 😁. It is not a self shut off unit, that I am aware of. However, whenever I cook anything, and it's about done, I will TURN OFF the burner 5-10 minutes before the food is done. Yes, it takes that much time to cool down. I use this almost every day. It is a whole lot easier to clean up than my ceramic top stove, and I think it uses less electric (110 amps) instead of my Ceramic top electric stove (220 amps). And this burner take LESS time to heat up than my ceramic top stove. The cooking is more efficient, too, in terms of say, chicken n Noodles. I can not make this dish on my ceramic top, as it fluctuates in temperature, trying to maintain an even temp. It is that "shut down" time, (temp fluctuating) that causes my noodles to become tough, instead of fluffy. This Cuisinart table top burner maintains the temp (like a coil burner) and my noodles come out perfect!) 😅 I am thinking about getting a 2nd one. Sometimes I need 2. I had another brand (for about 6 mos. before it died. 😞. Another well known name, but the product did not hold up. I am definitely buying another Cuisinart table top burner!

Eight years and still cookin!!
I purchased this is 2018, used it every single day for all meals and it is STILL going strong!!! Because the burner plates are cast-iron they take a little while to warm up, but once hot, they maintain a stable heat. The larger burner is big/hot enough for frying foods, and the smaller burner works great for warming things up or bringing smaller pots to boil. It’s been a fantastic stove top for a small living space. Highly recommended.

It works for it’s intended purpose.
I have had a coil double burner, a gas burner, an induction burner and now this one. The first one was Ok. The gas one worked well, but I found the gas part to be a bit cumbersome and I preferred electric power. The induction burner was a pain to use even though I have plenty of workable pans — its performance was unpredictable and after about a year its brain was damaged and it quit working at all. So I got this one. Simple knob and heat control- check. Two burners, one hotter than the other- check. Easy to clean surface - check. Easy to use - check. The reviews about the difference in heat in the two burners are correct. And if you want a temperature high enough to fry, you may be disappointed. The burner does take a while to cool down, so be careful. But for my purposes, this works — I can keep potential messes and smells outside on the patio where it lives, grill burgers and sear a steak outside of the house. It is not an expensive stove, but will serve most purposes as an alternative burner.

Chinese Junk, but works well while it lasts
Today I ordered my third Cuisinart single burner. I try to stay away from purchasing mediocre products, but now-a-days, mediocre is as good as you can get for a moderate price. Lower end products made in China are typically made of cheap, low quality materials, with mediocre to poor quality electronics. Their quality control is very poor. I am old enough to know when a product is not well made. However, China has some brilliant engineers, and their technology is in many respects superior to that of the United States. An advantage of a dictatorship is it allows the government to allocate funds as it wants to without considering the needs of the people. Many of their high end products are superior to those made with American technology. For example electric cars manufactured in China are of far superior quality than electric cars made in America, and the Musk cars, ( I do not own one). However, common, lower cost products made in China is generally of significantly poorer quality than made in America, Europe, or Japan, and usually is worse bang for the buck. The Cuisinart hotplate does a good job while it works. If it was more durable I would give it 4 1/2 stars on my somewhat strict grading system, where 4 stars is very good and 3 stars is of just adequate quality. I have used a Cuisinart hot plate for approximately 3 years, five to six days a week to sear steaks and pork chops in a cast iron pan. I always need to heat the pan on the highest setting (5). It heats up fairly quickly. In about seven minutes the surface of the hotplate is 700 to 800 degrees as measured by my infrared thermometer. The surface of the pan heats up to 500+ to 600+ degrees in about five minutes. I cook the steaks to blackened on the outside and medium rare on the inside. The steaks continue to cook when I take them out of the pan. I need to remove the steaks at about 115 degrees for them to be at medium rare when plated. I sometimes over cook pork chops because they cook so fast in the cast iron pan on the Cuisinart burner. Good quality steaks taste outstanding, Costco steaks, top sirloin caps, filets, New Yorks, Rib steaks come out great, if you select the best ones you can get at Costco. I have done well with Choice which is less expensive, I usually buy the prime top sirloin caps. The quality of the meat at my Costco's and all supermarkets have gone done somewhat over the past several years, so I am selective to which steaks and pork chops I buy. Filets 3/4 inch to 1 inch thick work very well. Crispy crust medium rare inside, taste like it came off a charcoal grill, only a little juicier. Thicker filets and New Yorks can be a little dry when cooked over very high heat. Lower the temperature to setting 4 or cook thinner steaks to resolve this. I like the steaks charred, so I prefer to use the highest heat setting. As for the pan, I use only cast iron, generally a #8 size pan. I use a vintage Wagner, but new, inexpensive Lodge Logic pans seem to cook just as well. I enjoy cooking with my copper pans. good quality stainless steel, and non stick pans for cooking foods at lower temperatures on my stove, but not for steaks. Temperature control works reasonably well. It doesn't work perfectly, but reduced settings reduce the temperature of the burner to my satisfaction. The legs on my first burner were uneven, and the unit wobbled on the table. I am not extremely fussy, but I would take off one star for that. I could have returned or exchanged it but I chose to keep it. This burner lasted about two years. I bought another one, and the feet were more even, and it didn't wobble. Today it stopped working after approximate 1 1/2 years of use. Typically I preheat the burner for five minutes, preheat the pan on the hot burner for five minutes, and cook the steaks or pork chops on the highest setting (5) for from six to twelve minutes or so depending on the thickness of the meat. Thus the burner is running on its highest setting for approximately twenty minutes, for five of six days per week. My burner is on for between 80 to 110 hours per year. For me, the two burners lasted for approximately between 130 and 220 ours of use. I have read reviews on many other hotplates. Although I rate this Cuisinart burner at 3 stars. I do not know of a better product for under $100. Unfortunately this mediocre quality appliance is one of the best in its class for under $100. Incidentally, cooking in very hot pans in your kitchen gets grease everywhere. I ruined a couch, chair, and blinds, and had grease all over my ceilings. After getting rid of the furniture and repainting the kitchen, I bought the Cuisinart hotplate to use outside, instead of my stove top. In my opinion this product is of mediocre quality construction, but works well for creating heat fairly quickly and getting pans hot enough to sear steaks very well. It is not easy to get the surface of the hotplate clean, but I am not that fussy. Any cast iron or stainless steel hot plate will be difficult to clean. Since it is not an oven, it doesn't effect the cooking at all. I lightly clean it after each use to remove surface grease, and I have not noticed it to be a fire hazard. Also I use it outside and am watching it at least once every two or three minutes. The cooking area of the burner and the pan get very hot. Be careful when you use any hotplate. If the unit starts to smoke, overheats, or gives off strong burning smells, throw it out. Fortunately I did not have this problem with my Cuisinart hotplates. Should you buy it? If you want something that functions well and you can afford or are willing to replace it fairly often, you might enjoy using the product. If you are like many people, me included, you might be better off purchasing cheaper products to reduce the cost of your frequent repurchasing. You might want to research Sunavo hotplates which get fairly good reviews at a lower price. They are unlikely to out perform or outlast Cuisinart hotplates, but you would save significant money when repurchasing.

It is a Good Product
I got this because sometimes I do not want to use gas. Great little product. It heats up fairly fast and does everything it promised. High temperature is just that - high! Accurate indicator. I rarely use it at a 5(its hottest) 2 or 3 is sufficient. I have to get used to the fact that, unlike gas, takes a little time to heat up and once heated up it takes a long time too cool. It looks good and is easy to clean.

Easy and quick
I bought this item for camping. I love how it is simple to operate and easy to clean. I love the simple dials and not a whole bunch of buttons and lights. The only drawback is that the smaller burner has less watts so doesn't heat up as fast.

Good but not great for everything
This is a good hotplate with reasonable power. I bought this for pressure canning because my stove controls are behind the large pot whereas this unit's control is in the front. It does the job but due to lower wattage takes exponentially longer to reach pressure. The control is very good once at pressure because the cast iron burner is slow to lose heat, however the overall added time was just too much and I went back to the stove for pressure canning. This unit is still great for general purpose cooking. Something to consider is the cast iron burner takes a very long time to cool down and the overall unit gets quite warm so it may take a while to be safely transported after use in a "portable" setting.
