This classic film has a beautiful soundtrack to it that truly makes the film memorable. The story and the music complement each other so much, even though this was a directorial debut for Frank Darabont. I really don't care if it wasn't a huge hit when it came out because it became a quiet classic slowly and surely the right way--by word of mouth, ignoring the reviewers and what was popular.The soundtrack has as much of an impact as the film itself, lending itself to the greatness of Mozart to Hank Williams, put together by Thomas Newman.

This is primarily for the hard core fans of the score. The alternate versions alone are justification big enough to purchase it. The second disc contains alternate takes and extended versions of some of the tracks present on the original release. I have cherished and immensely enjoyed the score for YEARS and the previously unreleased material will keep me busy for more to come. Thank you Thomas Newman for a truly remarkable work.

A great soundtrack finally on vinyl. However my copy wasn't exactly flat, it was playable but it was almost on the verge of jumping the needle. On top of that it had some leftover vinyl flashing on one side from the pressing that stuck out about a quarter inch making the record out of round. I just took a bearing scraper and cleaned the edge up myself. I'm unsure if the manufacturer is not doing quality control or this is just they way they are being made so you may have similar issues. But bottom line is that its a great soundtrack packed with original scores and music from the movie, like Hank Williams and the opera song used in the movie.

I was channel surfing and came upon a rebroadcast of this film - one of my top 10 and listened for the first time to the beauty of the score. I love the calming and serene quality of the compositions, so lovingly scored by Thomas Newman. I will be using this soundtrack as part of my massage therapy playlist. Just beautiful!

Absolutely wonderful & all the beautiful music I've missed since my old one wore out. This is the most heartfelt & soul touching movie ever made, and the music makes it so moving. I absolutely LOVE Thomas Newman's unique talent. I can pick his music out on each show/movie. Thank you so very much!

Thomas Newman is a genius. His music moves you like no one else can.I don't know what goes on in his head but it's like he has a connection to the inner most region of your emotions. I can't tell you how his music has soothed me in times of stress or emotional pain. Thomas is amazing.
