Q: What is the approximate run time on a 5.0 battery? Also, what is the air speed?

I do not have an anemometer to check wind speed. I don’t know the run time but I can tell you that I blow off 100 feet of driveway and 40 feet of side walk and I have 4 out 5 bars showing on charged indicater.

Q: why does it say bare?

There is no battery or charger.

Hello. I have bought 2 different blowers. Both are battery operated. I can use my 5.0,6.0,8.0 batteries just fine.

Not as much an "answer" as suggestions... If you mean the "rabbit/turtle" button lights up but pressing the trigger doesn't do anything ... Check that the contacts for the battery (all 4) are not bent or corroded somehow, and check with another battery (if you have access to one -maybe at Home Depot or a friend?) - other than that it sounds like something has gone wrong with either the battery or the tool.
