Patagonia: the Camino Home (A Camino of the Soul)

"Patagonia: the Camino Home" is the continuation of Katharine Elliot's intensely personal, yet totally universal story started in her first book, "A Camino of the Soul: Learning to Listen When the Universe Whispers." This book like her first, centres around her journey within while tackling the physical challenges of trekking, this time in Patagonia, Chile. As with her first, I found this book difficult to put this book down once I started reading it. Elliot not only writes beautifully but what she writes about is heartfelt and inspiring from beginning to end. I believe we are all called to learn what we came into the physical to learn, but not all of us have the courage to take the journey that will lead us to find and dance with the Divine within. "Patagonia: the Camino Home" continues to encourage all of us to recognise that when the call comes to "be more", it's because we can do it, not without difficulty but because we all have the ability to find our way if we will just take that first step.

Katherine Elliott’s newest offering promises adventure but gives us so much more. Part travelogue, part memoir, part spiritual odyssey, “Patagonia, the Camino Home,” delivers more of the personal wisdom delivered in her first Camino book. The vistas may be breathtaking in Patagonia, but one woman’s healing journey serves as an inspiration to us all to find the beauty and calm center within ourselves. When the Universe whispers, we should learn to listen. Katherine gives us the tools in this wonderful and sagacious little gem.

An enjoyable and inspiring read. I envy the author her ability to walk whenever and wherever she chooses, a thing the most of us only dream about.

I sure enjoyed this book! This one even better than the first. Katharine did a wonderful job describing her emotions, thoughts, experiences and jubilation in her life's journey. You feel like you are right along side of her while climbing the hills or stepping on the rocks, seeing the colors or eating a little snack. Very descriptive with a warm and wonderful hug from her family members passed. She found strength and awareness she had not experienced prior to these walks. She helped me think about my angels that may be trying to guide me and I haven't been listening hard enough. Or noticing the signs around that in hindsight are so clear. This will be my mission... a little meditation and a little awareness of those who have passed in my life that are only there to help me. I enjoyed this read. Looking forward to her next walk and where that journey will take us.

This is the second book in the series from Walking Woman Katharine Elliott. In her delightful writing style, Kate takes her readers on another adventure of walking, listening and growing spiritually as she explores the Patagonia region in South America. The other gift that Kate gives us is the heartfelt glimpses into her childhood and youth. As we share those cherished moments with the Elliott family, we are reminded of our own childhoods, with those special memories. I enjoyed this book as much, if not more, that Kate’s first book. So, if you haven’t read Kate’s first book, you now have two wonderful “journeys” to take, without ever leaving the comfort of your favorite chair! Enjoy!

"Patagonia..." allows the reader to stride along with Ms. Elliott on a journey into the mountains of her soul with physical scenery surrounding some of the most beautiful peaks in South America. The memoir reads like a complex wine. You will want to savor this one. I kept being drawn back to it after getting called away by different tasks. Honesty, wonder, and unspoken courage saturate "Patagonia..." I enjoyed the walk very much. Ms. Elliot's openness and willingness to show vulnerability made the book come alive for me. I stepped away from it with a greater appreciation for the possibilities for growth under difficult circumstances as well as some of the skills and qualities required.

Pretty self-indulgent, had to laugh in the introduction when she mentioned looking out over the Mediterrean at Finisterre (it's the Atlantic Ocean). However, her description of the W circuit was fairly accurate.

It is a Spiritual growth, while Katharine was hiking in Patagonia. She afforded two different travels and the experience of Francigena Via is (at the end and meaning) the same Camino. A kind of Life Pilgrimage focusing on the voice of soul, like we have to. Her message is strong: "Trust, accept and the Universe will conspire on your behalf" In this special momentum nothing is out of life order: only peace. Big lesson. sometimes it happens i felt a little bit the same in Nepal, in Buthan , but she explains much better the process from her young age to the "now" including the hard end of her marriage..thanks. We are waiting for the next book!

I have an upcoming trip to Patagonia and I really enjoyed reading Katharine's experience of the hike and her life story. Written from the heart by a true hiker of the soul. Thank you !

This is a very inspirational account of the external and internal journey that the author went while trekking in Patagonia. This journey is the second that the author travels, in Book 1, she treks the Camino del Santiago all the time processing the end of her marriage. This trek is a continuation of that process as she learns to trust herself, the Universe and remain in the present. Her honesty and vulnerability is what speaks to you. THroughout her trek through Patagonia, small things remind her of her past. It is well written - you can almost smell and touch the amazing environment she is trekking through, I'd definitely recommend this to book to anyone who is struggling with an aspect of their lives.

In her second book, Ms. Elliot once again interlaces themes and experiences in a compelling account of her personal journey of deeper self-discovery through a walking expedition. The reader will experience an intimate connection and sense of being understood as they relate to the humorous and thought-provoking situations she faces. Her shared memories are poignant and offer delightful glimpses of the foundation of family and gratitude that her experiences and book builds upon. Her vivid descriptions of the land she walks will carry the reader to a place of joy and wonderment. Among other things, it may leave the reader craving oatmeal and their own retreat to nature.

Katharine has excelled in this new book. I loved her first book but this one is even better. Her description of the trail and its surroundings is almost like a picture being painted in your mind's eye. I particularly liked her many flashbacks to her childhood. Christmas Eve really grabbed me. It was so vivid and so amazingly similar to my own family Christmas, that instead of moving to the next chapter, I turned back and read it again. I look forward to her next book
