Long-Term Reliability and Performance
I have been using the YOLINK LoRa Smart Outdoor Motion Sensor for over a year now, and I must say it has consistently delivered exceptional performance and reliable security monitoring for my property. This long-term experience has solidified my confidence in this product's capabilities. One of the standout aspects of the YOLINK motion sensor is its impressive durability. Despite being exposed to various weather conditions throughout the seasons, including heavy rain, extreme heat, and even freezing temperatures, the sensor has remained intact and fully functional. Its rugged construction and weatherproof design have proven to be reliable and have ensured continuous operation without any degradation in performance. The motion detection accuracy of the YOLINK sensor has been consistently impressive. It effectively distinguishes between human movement and other sources of motion, minimizing false alarms and providing reliable notifications only when necessary. This has been particularly valuable in reducing unnecessary interruptions and ensuring that I am alerted to genuine activity on my property. The 1/4 mile open-air range advertised by YOLINK is not an exaggeration. I have placed the sensor at a significant distance from the receiver, and it has maintained a strong and consistent signal without any connectivity issues. This extensive range has allowed me to cover a large area of my property without the need for additional sensors, providing comprehensive security coverage. The integration of the YOLINK motion sensor with various smart home platforms, such as Alexa, IFTTT, and Home Assistant, has greatly enhanced its functionality. I have integrated it seamlessly into my existing smart home ecosystem, enabling me to control and monitor the sensor through voice commands and automate it with other connected devices. Still can't believe this exists
The entire YoLink system sounds too good to be true. Years of battery life? Miles of Range? Extremely cheap price? What's the catch? Well I haven't found one. The app is awesome, the products work as advertised and are affordable. I bought this motion sensor to place out on my driveway so I can get notified anytime a car pulls up. I have it tied to the Speaker Hub and when motion is detected, it plays a chime and then a mp3 of Michael Jackson saying "HEE HEE!". Hundreds of plays now and it's still funny to me. It's survived pouring rain. I like the green color because it kind of blends in to backgrounds. If I had one complaint, it's that it cannot swivel side to side, only up and down. This means you have to mount it to something pointed in exactly the direction you want. This could easily be fixed by simply mounting it to another mount that DOES swivel. Maybe I'll 3D print something for that. Very happy with the YoLink products. I own gate sensors, vibration sensors, humidity and they are all high quality stuff that allows you to build your own DIY security system for your property at a very affordable cost. I can also report that it does integrate with Home Assistant as well, but you might not even want to bother because the YoLink app is really good. Yes, it does use a 3rd party cloud but I heard they are coming out with a new hub that would allow for fully local installations if that is a concern to you. PErsonally I am ok with an american company running the cloud if it means i can get notifications away from home, which Home Assistant can't do easily for free.

Small footprint, works well.
Update August 23, 21 - Based on feedback from myself and others, the company has updated their specs to reflect the real world range of the sensor to 20-30'. How often does that happen!! KUDOS TO YOLINK!! I like the sensor and have ordered additional units since my first purchase. As it has been mentioned elsewhere, these sensors work better when motion is across the sensor and not in line with it. Update June 17, 21 - Dropping a star off this review. The unit isn't picking up motion that it should be, such as a golf cart going by. Read R. Smith's review, he is spot on. I will 1-up him though and say I suggested driveway sensor to YoLink back in Aug. of 2020. :) I'll give this a 4.5 out of 5.0 stars... but since I can't, they'll get 5 stars for now. PRO: Small, long range, works with Alexa, priced right. Detection Range: I really wish marketing people would not stretch the truth and just state it like it is. The documentation says "Optimum range is 1-40ft" That means to me it should work EVERY time if an object is within that range.. and might work if it is outside. With a human subject, I found the range to be about 35'. Definitely not 40'. Also, the 80deg FOV isn't correct, it is much narrower. The FOV actually works in my favor as I'm using it as a driveway sensor. It isn't as good as the Dakota Alert I have been using and I may switch back since I've integrated my Dakota Alert into YoLink anyway. I have had one instance where an electric vehicle came into and out of our driveway and it did not pick it up in either direction, so that was a FAIL. Maybe because it didn't have a hot engine?? This is a great product as long as you know you aren't going to get 40' detection or 80deg FOV. Perfect for your front door, around your house, etc. I'll be buying more of them to place around the property!

Replacment works excellent - upgraded review
It’s really to bad that this sensor doesn’t work very well. The other Yolink items I’ve purchased work very well. At first, my complaint was that it does not update from an Alarm strategy change quickly. I have the alarm strategy change notifications when I arm or disarm. My door and window sensors change strategy immediately, the out door sensor works intermittently and is getting worse with time. It’s been up for almost 2 weeks, it started out with only an occasional non detect but now there’s no sense in using it because you can not trust and rely on it. As you can see it’s protected from the elements, I’ve ran through the troubleshooting procedures with no luck. It’s about 100 feet from the hub. I can walk or drive right passed it and the red light won’t come on, so it’s not an issue with communicating to the hub. It should flash the red light if it detects motion regardless of the program or hub communication (I have the red LED enabled). To be fair, I only have one outdoor sensor, I’ll buy another one and test. If this is just a bad unit, I’ll update this review. Update 1, The company responded very quickly and expressed interest it making it right. I truly believe this company believes in their products and continuous improvement. When I get the new sensor and evaluate, I'll update this review. Update 2, The original outdoor detector problem was a one off issue. The company responded swiftly, the item was replaced and works as advertised. I now have about 15 Yolink devices that work perfectly within it's own app as well as Alexa routines. The products are excellent, the Yolink company's customer support is the most responsive and genuine company I may have ever dealt with. Don't hesitate to purchase. To fully benefit from these products, take the time to read the documents and video tutorials on their website. Reach out to them for clarification on any specific programming response you may be looking for.

Works great in a straightforward sense - but has a few flaws
It works great, especially if you use other YoLink products or have Home Assistant. I'd give it a 5-star if they revised any of the following annoyances when/if they release version 2 of this product: -The QR code, battery door, and/or set button should be on the bottom of the device rather than the back, as they are hard to reach and requires you to fiddle with the mounted angle if you need to access any of those. But that's not something you do often enough to be a major nuisance. Another solve for this would be to have the wall mount bracket have a clip you depress, which would allow you to take off the sensor and then slide it back on in the exact same position. I'm taking 1/2 a star for this (minor) design flaw. - I really wish the app would allow you to customize the trigger zone. As it stands right now, you choose the motion sensitivity (low, medium, high) within the app and that's it. At a minimum, I'd love an adjustable range for things like distance and angle. Or even better, to be able to turn on a "calibrate" mode, stand where I want it to trigger and wave my arms, then lock in THAT level of sensitivity. Would also be able to provide near-real time feedback on exactly where it can/will trigger. But for the price, I understand why it lacks these features. However, still knocking off a 1/2 star for it. - But my biggest gripe is with the mounting "hardware" being plastic and only allowing you to mount it flat against a wall. You can't angle it left or right, only aimed up or down. In my case, I could only place it off-center from the driveway without being able to point it directly at the spot where cars pull up. If YoLink created a secondary mounting arm so you could have a bigger range of motion or make the mounting bracket metal so you could have an easier time customizing it yourself, that would be enough for me to bump it up to 5-stars. But I'm deducting 1 star, as this is the biggest flaw. I have the need for at least 4 more of these sensors. But for right now, I'm holding off purchasing any more until they release a new version, which will hopefully fix some (or all) of the annoyances of the current iteration.

Working well so far
Have one at the end of our very long private driveway to give a warning when someone is coming. Placed another just before arriving at the house so we can tell if things are coming or going. They have been mostly reliable so far, but seem to have an issue with vehicles that aren't producing a lot of heat. When we leave and the car hasn't heated up they frequently don't alert, also sometimes don't alert when one of the electric Amazon vans pass by. Apparently the IR has a difficult time detecting the cold vehicles. Have placed 4 of these in various locations so far and they have been more reliable than any other systems we have tried that rely on wireless communication over distance.

I love my YoLink networks, and yes I have several
So I'm a cybersecurity engineer, automating my personal systems. I have houses 700 miles apart, and I have a ridiculous level of automation because that's just how I roll. So much of the gear I use works great when I'm in the room, and fails the hour I leave for the other house. Wifi is a wonderful thing, when it works. The problem is it is easy to jam up wifi, AND so many of the IOT devices are based on 2.4ghz wifi that can be shut down by any baby monitors that use wifi frequencies but do not use wifi. A baby monitor /can/ shut down any 2.4ghz wifi within a half mile. So as a result I see tons of wifi failures in that 2.4ghz band. It's not just baby monitors, but those are a common example, there are many others. Yolink uses loran technology for communication, easily overcoming wifi failure modes. This is important to ME. Your mileage may vary. I have only two issues with yolink products. One is the speakerhub, it is wifi only, so it falls outside of my "sphere of reliability", I /really/ wish it had an ethernet port. Speakerhub makes a noise when wifi goes up and down... I hear that noise a LOT. And it isn't my wifi router's fault, any properly operating wifi AP will fail to operate when blocked by a interfering signal, that is a required part of the wifi protocol, wifi that doesn't do this is actually illegal because it might be near a military radar installation. The second thing about YoLink is that sometimes I need polling cycles of short duration, so for example a temperature probe on an air conditioner will need to have fast polling cycles to capture the curves needed to check performance of the unit. The hour polling cycles are great for most things, but sometimes I need more frequent polling cycles, even if only temporary. I wish there was a way for me to buy extra polling cycles on a month to month basis, but I think that functionality is probably reserved to larger customers with larger operations. So the power of the yolink platform is that because it is not on your wifi, it can be used to repair and remediate issues with your wifi. In my redundancy setup, I have a hub on each of the ISP's feeding a site, so that if one ISP is down, I can reboot the router from the other ISP connection, from anywhere on the planet. And in the short time I have been doing this, I have used it to resolve issues with both ISP's, thereby avoiding 20 hours of driving. I have many brands of remote power modules, as well as temperature sensors, 4 brands of surveillance cameras, a cisco dual-wan router, hvac controls, and automations to manage some of my personal "infrastructure". YoLink has been the solution for many problems, and a joy to build ifttt automations for. It is clean and simple.

Great range, and good automation accessory.
This is a great sensor to bundle with other YoLink products. Also, can work with routines on Alexa. The signal is strong, even a considerable distance from my house, and I’m still on the original batteries almost 1 year in. I use this motion sensor to turn on outside lights in the night near the edges of my property. So far so good. It is mounted on a tree.

Works fine! No issues with build quality.
Works great with my Yolink hub monitoring temperatures all over the house. Very unobtrusive and sensitive. I would not trust this in an uncovered place to be honest but that's just me. I mounted mine over the door where it is well sheltered from the elements by the overhang. Very useful when I am in the shop and can't hear the driveway alert. Phone beeps and I glance at the camera feed and I know there is a package or whatever. Exactly what I wanted as I hate the Ring system.

The worst product I ever bought from YoLink
I've had a great experience with my various YoLink products, finding them to be consistently reliable and functioning as expected. However, this particular sensor has been disappointing, as it frequently fails to detect my movements while falsely triggering alerts for minor things like a rabbit passing by, making it unsuitable for home security purposes.
