Retro 51 Tornado™ Vintage Metalsmith - Dr. Gray Skeleton Rollerball Pen

Love this pen! Looks gorgeous, writes smooth and fluidly with no breaks and no pooling. Only issue is my son keeps threatening to steal it!

I work in a health related field and was looking for an interesting pen for work. I have several Retro 51 fountain pens and I love them. This pen is awesome. The design and function are perfect. I love the skeleton and many coworkers have made positive comments on it. It is a substantial pen meaning it is heavier then many pens I own. I like that, but some may not. One thing I didn't know about the pen. I was in a meeting and they dimmed the lights for a presentation. Little did I know the body of the pen glows in the dark. This is a great pen that looks good and writes like a dream.

Big pen collector and I love these pens. These are my go to pens for everything, the ink ratio is perfect. They feel so lightweight and are so easy to write with.

I really like the heft of the pen and it’s super attractive. I’ve had lots of coworkers “threaten” to steal it one day but so far they’ve just eyed it lovingly. I’m not fond of the way it writes as I have a heavy press and this pen doesn’t abide that so my handwriting is kinda messy with it. Definitely going to try an ink refill with a different point and hopefully that will solve that. The ink smears when writing on waxy/receipt paper so I have to be careful not to brush my hand against those for a while after writing on them and since I use it for work I carry it hooked to my belt loop and it tends to unscrew and mark my hand up as I’m walking but I imagine that’s not a typical way to carry a pen so I can’t fault them for that. I do plan to buy more like this for no other reason than their distinct appearance (no more ‘is that my pen?’) and fingers crossed a different style refill will fix my penmanship woes.

I love the look and feel of this pen. Its pleasant to hold and its a quality rollerball refill. It would be a good gift for someone just getting into nicer pens or aren't ready for that nice pen cost. Its also a decent gift for people into the Medical field or into strange/ spooky things. I think this is the 3rd time I've purchased this pen. If it was lost/stolen again I doubt i'd buy it a 4th time but i don't regret replacing it. I don't think this pen is being made anymore but there appears to be a lot of stock left currently.

Vital to my work as primary care physician. Every patient gets a written note of what we discussed. And they love to see their bones (labeled correctly) I bought a 2nd in case the first walked away. The rollerball smeared & refills did not last so I use ballpoint refills. This is an important tip: if you want gel pens use TUL from the office store. Use ballpoint refills in your Retro 51’s.. These are solid like my first vehicle a GMC 1951 panel truck. I will enjoy them forever.

One of (if not) the best pens I've ever owned. It writes nice and smooth, and at the perfect thickness. Something cool about this pen as to others that I found out is that when you write with it, you can immediately go over it with a highlighter, and it won't smear. Every other pen I've ever used had to dry for awhile before you can do that, not this one.
