Steel could use a heat treatment
The media could not be loaded. It's steel. Nothing grand like tooling steel or chromolly but it will work for a time and sometimes down the road it will be a blob on the end where it flattened. If you have a way to heat treat or case harden I would to so to the tip only. Leave the part that connects to the sds alone. It shouldn't need hardened and would be unwise to harden as that could harm the sds. I turned one like this into a clay spade with the use of my tig welder and some flat stock steel. I had removed a place where the bit would maximize welding area for over all durability. It's not pretty but it works well. I will take a picture so you can copy my design for your own clay spade. Since everyone wants about $50 for a 20 dollar item.
