Programs just like a UV5R, comes with a few extra bits!
I've been buying several Baofeng/PoFung/TIDRADIO HTs, and so far this one is the most durable and resilient. The added waterproofing will be wonderful to have for outdoor use. For the $46 I paid, getting all the included speaker-mic, programming cable, and necessary add ons is VERY helpful, considering it uses the pin-style adapter, rather than the Kenwood two-plug type. This pin adapter keeps it water-resistent, but more importantly STAYS plugged in. The rotating clip is nice, however it might not stay on. The software is UV-5R software, so nothing unexpected there. The standard Baofeng SMA-Female Antenna is nice because I certainly have plenty of those antennas.Overall, I'm really happy with this radio, and can't wait to be able to use it outdoors in the future!

How to operate
I thought it was awesome just add a bigger entenna that is long and from tidradio and I was able to go about 4 to 5 miles but when you were under a power line for. The other person it was a little be static but other than that it was great and I have not tested it under water but when it rains I will try and can’t wait to use it for a bigger and longer trip also I used a ham reapeater and connect to it in able to talk even farther

Your standard baofeng
If you've ever used a uv-5r(solid cheap radio) this is the same with minor changes. Notably the waterproof accessory is a nice to have on something that could get wet and is a nice design that make a solid connection. It does mean if you have the non-waterproof versions you'll need to get new accessories. That said everything you really need is in the box. You get a basic ear piece that you'll probably never use is it's the old 90's style plastic bud. There's also a data cable made especially for the new connector. The remote mic actually surprised me as being a little better quality than others I've seen with a nice sturdy coil cable and decent construction. One other difference from a uv-5r that's a bit annoying is to switch between freq and channel mode you need to turn the radio off and restart it while holding menu. Beyond that it's a solid radio. Don't let the buttons scare you as you'll get used to them with some use.

Easy to work with
This is my 2nd Tidradio. I also have the UV5R. My team and I rely on them, especially during storm season. Much easier to carry than some of the bigger radios and have plenty of range to keep in touch in the field. I had a little trouble getting it programmed, but customer service was right there to help out. Would definitely buy again.

Waterproof HT Radio but Typical “Boafeng” with the Usual Issues plus Some
The TIDRADIO UV9R Dual Band HT ia a relabeled Baofeng. TIDRADIO claims it to be IP67 waterproof. So, after programming it, I had to find out if it really is waterproof and have some fun at the same time. An IP67 rating means that the device can be submerged in up to one meter (roughly three feet) of fresh water for half an hour. I filled up the kitchen sink with about eight inches of cold water and tossed the radio into the sink. (I turned it off first but I was not particularly gentle in how I placed it in the sink. After all if it falls into a lake or a creek that fall won’t be gentle.) I left it to float (well, it actually sank to the bottom of the sink) for a minute. Then I dried it off and turned it on. Yes, it still works—although the speaker may have taken a hit. It isn’t as loud as it was before its bath and it sounds more distorted. But I’ll allow it to air dry overnight. (I’ve attached a in sink and after photo. It’s hard to see the water in the sink, but, believe me, it’s there.)As foe the radio itself, it is typical Beofeng. The antenna is crap. With the stock antenna the radio can’t hit any of the local 2 meter repeaters except for one that is a mile away. However, the first thing that many hams do (including myself) is to replace the antenna with a better one. Due to the construction of the antenna jack on the radio, my good Diamond dual band antenna would not fit. That was disappointing. To make it waterproof, the radio has a non-typical external speaker microphone connector. A plastic plate is held in place by a tiny Phillips head screw. It’s a real pain to remove the screw to install the programming cable. (Note that a standard K type connector microphones sold for most Baofeng radios will not work on the TIDRADIO UV9R This radio uses a special connector.)The TIDRADIO UV9R can be programmed by CHIRP or by the manufacturer’s custom software. For some reason, TIDRADIO requires an account registration and log in before their programming software and cable driver can be downloaded. This is totally unacceptable. If the driver and software isn’t supplied with the radio, it should be readily downloadable without requiring the creation of an account.

Yes!
This just came it and it came realy organized. I charged it and immediately connected all my radios to it. It feels strong. But it has some good sound. It sorta goes long distance but if I add the longer antenna, watch out world! Haha but over all good product.

Trustworthy? Modest Value? No HAM radio.
We paid 50 USD each for two UHF/VHF radios. There is a specific frequency range that makes HAM radio, this radio does NOT operate in HAM frequencies. It operates in UHF or VHF only. Also, the paper manual says this radio is IP57, not IP67, when we asked, the seller says its IP67 - should we believe them? Also, its not hitting 5 watts / 3 watts output, its more like 1.5 watts on highest setting, which works for my use case. Because these radios are built on the Beofeng platform model UV-9R we will keep them as backups. This is a product that you get what you pay for - pay more to get more.
