This has been my Eros/Psyche bible for years now and is dog eared to prove it. I adore this book. Martin starts with deeper look at Eros and the cosmological climate and the delves into a fresh retelling of the story. He next discusses the concept of the story as myth and the final section gets into an indepth discussion of the story through an alchemical lens. His insights into Eros, Psyche and the story are wonderful.From the book: Rapture, also represents the bliss of finding and living your own unique manifestation of the Divine, illuminating the world with a particular radiance that only you can bring, and giving to the sacred the blessings that only you can offer."

I mean the integral philosophy of Sri Aurobindo & the Mother, and the integral idealism of Haridas Chaudhuri. This view, which encompasses and supports a holographic, fractal universe as well as a transpersonal psychological perspective, is, I believe, the defining theme of the New Paradigm. If none of this is familiar to you, suffice it to say that Lowenthal orchestrates the harmonizing of an archetypal interpretation of this classic myth with a transpersonal assessment of the human condition in order to speak to the universal human needs for meaning, love, and a sense of belonging. Almost everyone raised in Western society (which is almost everywhere now, thanks to globalization) is damaged to one extent or another in their relationship with Nature and the divine feminine in general - women included (though the damage manifests differently in men and women). Contemplation of this excellent treatment of the Eros & Psyche myth can help guide you through your own self-discovery and healing. It is highly readable because the treatment is personal in style.

The first chapter is the most brilliant and profound description of something beyond human conception. I spend a lot of time rereading that first chapter.
