LOVE the look and functions great!
I wanted an acrylic gate since I do not like the look of traditional metal or wood gates but safety was most important obviously. There were not many reviews but so happy we took a chance on this one. I did not have any issues with the install, took about two hours since I had to install a post too on the right side since my opening exceeded the gate width limit. If you are in search of a good quality gate that almost disappears visually, this is the gate for you. Just measure twice before you drill and keep the gate release tool in a safe place since you will need it if you ever want to take it off in the future. Took about a week to get used to the closure... was tough at first until we got a feel for it. Daughter also really likes this gate... I guess it doesn't make he feel trapped like the metal bar ones do.

Great Looking Child Gate With Great Support
First time reviewer FYI because I am very happy with the support for this product...I installed one gate to divide my kitchen and living room for my two year old boy. Very sturdy and easy install. We had two pull out flexible gates at the top and bottom of our staircase but our child quickly learned to crawl under/over these gates. So I moved our living room gate to the top of the staircase and purchased another Qdos for the bottom of the staircase. During unpacking the new gate I may have broken a bracket. Qdos quickly replaced this part. Great support. These are great looking and sturdy gates. I would recommend to anyone who wants a more attractive alternative to metal/wood gates.

Highly recommend
I can’t express how much I love these gates! They’re easy to install, easy to use, and look extremely high end. I wanted something that would blend in and not be an eye sore in our newly renovated house, and these are perfect! Everyone compliments them once they realize they’re there! We got the adapter for the posts so that we didn’t have to drill into our railing. It works great, however they do move a little when you’re pulling the gate up to open it. Small inconvenience for keeping our railing intact. Also doesn’t affect the security of the gate, so it’s fine. I highly recommend this gate!

Beautiful, sturdy gate!
Super sturdy gate - pretty much impossible for a child or dog to open unless they jumped over it. It even took us a while to get it open and closed easily and it still takes a good amount of effort. We had ours professionally installed to the door frame because we wanted it done right the first time. We removed a storage closet door and replaced it with this for our dog. I like the fact that it’s adjustable so it can go over the stair case and a wider doorway. When the time comes that we need more gates, I’ll definitely be re-ordering. Everyone that comes over to the house asks where we got this gate from because they’d never seen one like it. We wanted a gate for our dog’s room near our main living space that wasn’t an eye sore like most, and we’re so glad we found this beautiful, modern looking gate!

Good gate, needs better instructions
There were no reviews of this gate when we bought it, but, not being satisfied with the reviews other gates got (and liking the looks of this one), we took a chance on QDOS. Overall, the gate is solid; now that it's installed, it looks great, seems sturdy, and is about as straight-forward to operate as any other gate (at least that I've opened). Here are pros and cons.PROS:1) The gate looks very nice, no question about that!2) The hardware seems to be high quality, with parts that fit reasonably well and anchor solidly. If installed correctly (i.e., into studs), the gate will be very stable and strong.3) I like the magnetic lock feature (with red/green indicator).4) It's nice that it comes with enough components to install over baseboards if need be, and it's great that it can be mounted to open at an angle, in front of an opening, or with the hinges facing each other within a hallway. I.e., you have some flexibility with this gate.5) It's also great that the company makes hardware that enables you to install the gate on wooden banisters without drilling into the wood (if you're putting it at the top/bottom of a stair with wood newels/spindles--though the hardware for this is sold separately).6) Also, this gate does minimal damage to your wall; you'll have four relatively small screw holes when you're finished (unless you did like I did and tried installing it three different places--yep, I know).7) The included level with double-sided tape was a very nice touch, and will be very useful for folks who don't keep lots of tools around.CONS:1) The statement that the gate will cover any opening up to about 40" is technically correct, but note my pictures: It WON'T cover 40" if you're doing an outside mount, EVEN IF the distance between hinge/lock points is a little LESS than 40". The reason for this is that the 40" measurement stated by QDOS includes the reach of the hinge/lock posts at either side. This becomes clear once you screw it in in an outside mount and discover, as I did, that the gate won't reach the latch--see pictures. Just be aware of this if you're planning an outside mount, rather than mounting directly across a hall/opening.2) The instructions are vague in places. E.g., the instructions don't bother to tell you that the "short screw" (out of four) should go in the hole where the latch handle is. It makes sense once you figure it out, but the instructions could be more direct about this--and about a number of other things. This may seem minor, but for anyone who really relies on instructions to get this installed correctly will find this extremely frustrating.3) Once installed, the gate takes some force to lift up out of the lower lock in order to open it. It isn't extreme, but it's not like opening a door. (This could be a good thing, of course, and isn't necessarily a con when compared to other gates.) Note that there is a spring on the hinge side that works to help lift the gate out of the latch--that's a nice touch, and makes opening/closing it way better than it would be otherwise.4) The acrylic does have some flex to it, so if you need a perfectly rigid gate that will not bow at all, this probably isn't for you. (The movement is minor, especially once the gate is latched, but I thought I'd note it.)Also, just a caveat, the acrylic is pretty heavy. You really do need to install this well into studs (or other load-bearing material). If you try anchoring this in drywall, it'll almost certainly rip out--and that IS noted in the instructions. All told, I think this gate is solid, and I'm glad we got it. Instructions could be clearer.NOTE ON PICTURES: The pictures show (1) damaged box upon delivery (contents were fine); 2) gate installed in outside mount position, unable to reach latch as described above (brown paper is protective film shipped with the acrylic); 3) closer image of gate still mounted in outside position; 4) outside mount, with measuring tape to show gap (with gate at full extension); and 5), gate installed in inside position (i.e., finished final install).
