Giving Book: Open the Door to a Lifetime of Giving

Bough this to potentially give to my 8 y/o niece but thankfully read it first. It has some good ideas but stops short of saying WHY we should give. So it's basically a secular humanist treatise on giving, if that is what one is looking for.

Love the book!

I love this book. I bought this book for my 5 year old niece to get her thinking about how to make valuable contributions to her community.

Every kid should have a Giving Book! Such a great way to start children and students on practicing Service-Learning! Awesome!

This book was awarded the top recognition for 2005 by the Metro Atlanta Corporate Volunteer Council. This award honors children's books that inspire community service and volunteerism in children.

What a wonderful book to share with your children. I am planning on getting one for my girlscout troop as well.

The Giving Book truly has the potential of opening up your or any other child's door to a lifetime of joyous, selfless giving. The book can be used as a fun, interactive workbook to help gently teach your child the most valuable lessons in life - those of Caring, Compassion and Giving to one another and to the earth. If there is to be a "New Age" on earth it will only happen if people start caring for and helping each other. This book is an excellent start for your child! For the Mom and Dad, I highly recommend  The Golden Rule Workbook: A Manual for the New Millennium  (available in eBook also) which is far more comprehensive in it's teachings and self-help techniques to really help you tackle the hard stuff, thus becoming a more loving, selfless parent who can teach their children and all others, by example, the great importance of caring, kindness and compassion.
