The Beatles Magical Mystery Tour and Yellow Submarine is the latest installment in the Beatles Album Series by Beatles historian Bruce Spizer. The book covers the songs and projects undertaken by the Beatles shortly after completion of their album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band in April 1967. In following ten months, the group wrote and recorded the song "All You Need Is Love" for the Our World TV program that was broadcast by satellite throughout the world, wrote the songs for and filmed the TV spectacular Magical Mystery Tour , wrote the songs for their feature length cartoon film Yellow Submarine , and recorded the songs "Lady Madonna" and "Across The Universe" before heading to India to study transcendental meditation in mid-February 1968. The book covers these remarkable achievements from the British, American, and Canadian perspectives, and includes chapters on the packaging of the albums and the writing and recording of the songs. It also has chapters on how the Beatles influenced our world, the friendly rivalry between the Beatles and the Rolling Stones, the Beatles Saturday morning cartoons, dozens of fan recollections, and more. The book has over 150 images. Review: Very detailed and informative - Nothing to dislike, I've always been interested in the Beatles psychedelic era and this gives you excellent detail albeit from an American viewpoint Review: Beatles book - Arrived well on time for my partners birthday he thought it was good to read and I would share this with my friends.

Great book
This is just a beautifully designed and informative dream book. My two favourite Beatles films all in one book. It is more text heavy than I expected but that's a plus not a minus point. Very good indeed.

Useful coverage of these two lesser Beatles albums.
Nicely produced volume - well presented with good print quality and content split across text and photos. I would have preferred a better balance across the UK (more) & USA (less) perspectives. Whilst I appreciate the author is American, the Beatles were a British group after all. So, one star deducted.

Interesting and Informative
What I like about this series of books is that as well as containing many interesting facts and figures on the albums, the books also reference the times the albums were released and put things into an historical and social context as well. Bruce Spizer is to be commended for the research and effort he put into this book and the quality of the additional contributions from the other writers. Many nice illustrations and pictures are present and the fan reminisces are fun to read particularly one from Leslie Samuels who actually met each individual Beatle and has a photo of George receiving his peace button and meeting Ringo in July 1967.

Great book
It’s a Spizer book. Of course it’s good. There was great info and really cool photos. The Canadian angle from Piers Hemmingsen was a nice touch.
