The Biochemic Prescriber: A handy guide for prescribing Dr. Schuessler's biochemic tissue salts to family and friends

Like many others, I bought this book initially because it was very inexpensive. Based on what I read of the author, he is more interested in getting this information out to the public than he is in making a buck. So the haters and their "you get what you pay for" negative reviews need to just back off on this . True sincerity is NOT always easy to find!This author was educated in the U.S. at both MIT and UCSC. Last I checked, one must have at least a fair working knowledge of the English language to earn a degree at MIT. So the apparent gaps in "translation" that another reviewer commented on are NOT due to his inability to speak and understand English. I think part of it is due more to the fact that, even tho a person learns another language, he or she still most likely thinks in their native language and must then translate in their head. And since his training in homeopathy took place in India, that is where he has been practicing. So when he relates information in English that he usually gives to his patients in, say, Hindi, for example(I don't know what his native tongue is...) that pattern of speech most likely transfers over to his English translation. It's not that difficult to figure out. And sure, there are some typos. NOT the fault of the author. I find typos all the time in books, news articles, blogs, and especially in item descriptions like on Amazon and eBay. It's become a fact of life that is, IMO, due to the modern need to send information quickly via text and email. With so much information trying to be sent out all the time, there is no longer the ability to accurately proofread everything. Add autocorrect to the equation, and ANYTHING can happen! So dont dismiss this book for any of these reasons. Also, the publisher is in India.Ok, so how did this book save me? Well, some months ago I discovered a small very superficial lump under my breast. It looked like a sebaceous cyst.Then a few weeks ago, this cyst ruptured and started an infection in my breast. I did all manner of things for this: hot and cold alternating compress; vitamin C load; topical arnica. But nothing worked.After messaging my doctor, I started on an antibiotic. But 5 days into it proved it ineffective as the infection suddenly got worse and had spread thru about 2/3 to 3/4 of my breast, causing much pain, and the skin was bright angry red thruout. This really got me worried! (especially since it was Memorial weekend!) I had already been taking a couple of cell salts, but wasn't quite sure if I was on the correct one for the current situation.So I grabbed this book and started thumbing thru it, looking for something I may have missed, anything I could use to help this situation.Then I landed on page 78: Biochemic Ointments. Going down the page, I found Calc sulf (cell salt #3), which said: "Use this salt where ulcer is purulent; when a boil is not healing; or there is fungal infection." BINGO! Found it!Directions for making topical cell salt: "crush one pill into a few drops of any non-medicated moisturizing lotion. Mix it without contact with metallic objects. Then apply the ointment on the skin just as you would apply any lotion."Sounds simple, doesn't it.So I got out a set of plastic measuring spoons. I put one tablet of Calc sulf 6x (he ONLY uses 6x potency) into the 1 Tbsp measure, then crushed it with the back of the 1/2 Tbsp measure. Then I squirted in a about a teaspoon of the good, viable aloe gel that I use to heal pimples and kitty scratches quickly (Lily of the Desert Gelly)- (Yes, I had already tried the aloe gel alone - didn't work.) As it sat there for a few minutes , the powdered cell salt just dissolved into the aloe gel on its own. All I had to do was stir it a little with my clean finger (Yes - hands and skin area to be remedied must first be cleaned!)After that, I applied it to all the bright red, painful areas on my breast, very gently rubbing it in just a tiny tiny bit.10 minutes later,and the bright red area that had covered most of my breast was reduced to very faint pinkish tinge thruout, and the pain was gone! 10 MINUTES, and it was reduced by about 75%! There is NOTHING any doctor could give me that could do THAT!I still had to take the Calc sulf orally - 4 tablets 3x/day, and apply the topical remedy 2x/day (after first washing the area to be treated - and my hands), but it was taking care of the remaining 25% of the infection.I did slack off after a couple of days, didn't apply the topical remedy. Because there was no pain, I forgot it was even there! But it reminds me to treat it by sending shooting pains. And when I apply it again, the pains go away.The secret to treatment with cell salts (and other homeopathic remedies) is to take them until your symptoms a very much improved. In other words, don't just stop because you suddenly feel better than you did when you were sick. EVERYbody feels better after being sick - because they aren't sick any more! It's all relative. It's like going backpacking - when you stop and take off that heavy pack, you suddenly feel so light weight that you could jump high in the air! But of course you can't do that: it's just a FEELING related to a recent body experience.You always feel better when the pain, vomiting, whatever, suddenly stops. But this feeling better is only relative to how you felt when you were sick. It is NOT the same as feeling good when you have NOT been sick. So make sure your symptoms are much improved before stopping the remedies.All in all, this is a good, simple book, written for the expressed purpose of being "A handy guide for prescribing Dr. Schuessler's Biochemic tissue salts to family and friends." I think it fulfills that stated purpose.If you are looking for a book on tissue salts and are considering this one because of its low price, just add it to your cart and check out, or hit Buy for the also inexpensive Kindle edition. Higher price tags for books do NOT automatically mean better info! So don't feel like you must get a more expensive book that you can't afford right now. This book is great if you are just starting out, also good as a quick reference if you've been at it a while. So buy it. You may just find, like I did, that this little book has something that will save you or a loved one from a serious problem.

Having studied and used homeopathy for 40 years I like to include cell salts with most treatments (cell salts: aka biochemics, and tissue salts). I find they work well alone and also as a combination with standard homeopathic remedies. I select the homeopathic remedy that matches the symptoms along with the cell salt(s) and take them each about 15-60 minutes apart, or just alternate them throughout the day. The cell salts can stand alone as a single remedy as well, as is the focus of this book.Cell salts are based on specific 2-part combinations of minerals as defined by Dr. Schuessler, a German medical doctor and practicing homeopathic physician from the 1850s. These are minerals the body is often lacking in balance that can contribute to illness: calcium, fluoride, phosphate, sulphate, potassium, chloride, magnesium, and sodium. They are made according to homeopathic principles and potencies, meaning no molecules of the original substance remains in the final pellet/pill. It's based on the energetic profile of the substance.Over the years I've collected many books on homeopathy and cell salts and this one has become one of my favorites. It's small, concise, and to the point, making it a quick reference guide. I recommend this little book to experienced homeopaths as well as those starting out. This is especially good for the latter as there are only 12 cell salts to compare (and learn) versus the thousands of HPUS homeopathic remedies, so starting with cell salts is far less overwhelming or intimidating.The author does an excellent job of putting the information together - and he includes some treatments for standard illnesses with each cell salt description. This is an excellent guide for humans as well as for your pets or livestock. (Animals respond very well to homeopathy, but there are no references to animals in this book, just an FYI.)My only criticism is that it lacks an index. IMO an index is crucial to a reference book so I usually deduct at least 2 stars when one is omitted (something that's regrettably becoming more frequent in these days of self publishing) but this is still a great little book so no deductions. If the author ever adds an index I will purchase a replacement.The fact that the author is selling this for such a reasonable price speaks to his purpose. Clearly, he is more focused on providing sound information to the masses than making a profit. At this price, it's easy to purchase this book for gifting, which is exactly what I am doing today. :)My gratitude to the author, Dr. Prashant Shivanand Shah.

Bought this as hardcopy and on Kindle last year. I've recommended this to all the people in my two homeopathic classes. Its organized, easy to read, and I use it as a reference often. I'm still new to all this but I'm so thankful for it.

Good book

My children went on my wish list and bought me this for Christmas. I am sooooo glad they did! It is one of my very favorite books, it is short and has so much information in easy to understand terms. I ordered one for each of my girls and I will be purchasing another for my granddaughter, also my sister- in- law is ordering one too. Everyone can benefit from this book. He has made it so much easier to figure out what you need to be taking. I cannot praise it enough and no I don't get anything for this review. I thank the author so very much and also Amazon for carrying it.

This book has pretty much what you need to know , easy to read and a very well breakdown. If you started to know more about homeopathy, get this book. Very helpful

This book arrived very quickly and in excellent condition. After opening it. I had it completely read within 30 minutes. It's just what I was looking for as I just learned about cell salts. The Author was very easy to read from and didn't use large words or terms that only chemists or Drs understand. I feel fully confident in being able to not only care for myself but most importantly for my family and friends now.
