I was very excited to get this product. Three adults tried it out on a smaller, but very round watermelon-all three of us had trouble getting it started on a cut. The cuts we did made were not pretty or even. Despite trying to make sure that I ran it along the rind to get a clean cut, I still left a lot of melon behind. The two other adults that tried it had the same problems, gave up and walked away. I am willing to try it again, perhaps I have lousy technique, but I can get better, more even cuts doing it the "old-fashioned " way!Ps. With a small watermelon, it is fast and easy to cut off all the rind, leaving you with a large watermelon ready to cut whichever way you would like!

This is a great product and fun to play with. Higher quality than cheezy stuff that may break easily...

Since i am alone and i usually buy the small watermelons, it really didn't help me at all since i could only cut one slice out of a half watermelon.The rest i had to do "by hand" and knife. I will probably give it away to someone who buys big watermelons, maybe the grocer would like it.

The Benefico Melon Slicer is a pretty neat tool. I love the concept of the design and can easily see this being used in a restaurant setting. I can also see it being used at home for party dishes such as graduations. It is pretty simple to use. You just cut the watermelon in half and slide the tool in from one side to another. Then you flip it over and use the other side of the same tool to grasp the slice and pull it out. I also like that it is much safer to use this than to cut a watermelon in slices with a knife.Here's what I'm not crazy about: I don't see this as a tool you would use for cutting up a melon at home for your family. It is just as messy as slicing up the water melon and then cubing it because you have to take the slice out, put it on the cutting board, and cube it anyway, although it is safer. What I would consider a design flaw is that the end of the slicer is at a 90 degree angle. Watermelons were rounded, not rectangular last time I checked. It makes for a lot of waste unless you clean up the leftovers with a spoon afterwards. It also takes a lot of practice to figure out depth when you are slicing. I had a hard time knowing how deep to go, even going by pressure on the handle, for that first slice. Overall I think this is a great product and well made. I also think that personal preference and setting would make a difference in when you would use such a tool. Lastly, the additional melon baller and decoration tool is a wonderful added bonus. It is also well made and would be great for parties. I've seen these advertised all over the internet and was super excited to have the opportunity to give a watermelon slicer a try. In the past summers we have always had a super mess on the counter after cutting a summer melon. Well, we bought a watermelon and we were super excited to give our new tool a try. And I will say that this is a very useful and awesome tool. My husband called it his new kitchen toy!! He does most of the kitchen work and cooking so he is also very picky about what tools and things he keeps in the kitchen drawers. Plus this set came with a cute little tool that makes balls and fancy designs. I don't know that we will use that tool but I know friends who would totally use this extra little tool. I received this item at a reduced price in exchange for a fair and honest review. I was very happy how it slices so evenly and there was very little waste and was easy to serve the slices directly out of the rind. It was fairly easy to wash and seems like it will store nicely in the kitchen drawers.
