I don't know about toenails, but they work great for trimming other hard-to-reach things. The blades appear slightly serrated and quite robust. I wouldn't equate them with the shears advertized to cut through pennies, but they are not flimsy. I took them out of my nail-cutting stash and put them in the toolbox after finding they were the only thing that would trim sheathed cable insulation at the back of a switch box.

Hate to write bad reviews but these toenail scissors just don't work. People who give it 4 or 5 stars must not have thick nails and must have small hands. My fingers don't fit in the handle grips and the scissor bends and cuts nothing when used on a toenail. Cuts paper very well but a toenail? Nah. Don't bother.

Did not work well on my toe nails. Not sure why. I had to reach down, grab my foot, pull up and hold my foot steady, and still I had a problem with these cutting my toe nails. They slipped off my nails w/o cutting. I may have accomplished a 'sliver' or so, but definitely not a clear, sharp cut off the top of any nail. Not very comfortable to hold. In my opinion they seem a little thin or not really high quality. Or my toe nails have become bionic somehow. I'm still on the search for a great toe nail cutter. I would not buy these again. The scissor part seems way to short to me. If I have to pull my entire leg into my lap to reach my toe nails, what is the point then. I will try them if I notice a nose hair or chin hair sprouting up, lol.....how gross.

I bought these for my mom (77) after she confided in me the only way she could cut her nails was if she sat on top of steps. Being afraid of falling she did go to a nail salon yet ended up with an ingrown nail. I was worried about her safety on the stairs and inadequate care at salons, so I Googled "the best nail trimmers for elderly" and found these with 5 star ratings. I was elated when amazon had them and prime so I could get them to her in the days I was there. She was questionable at best when we got them ~ yet once she tried them her response to me was "They REALLY work!". She reported they are sharp without being too sharp (maybe rugged is a better term), angled perfectly, and a God-send for her thick aged nails. She is so proud to be able to trim her own nails again, easily. Highly recommended!!!

THE SCISSORS ARE TOO SMALL FOR A MASCULINE HAND... MORE FOR A CHILD'S HAND. THEY ALSO COULD BE LONGER REACH AND HAVE BLUNT TIPS... THE POINTY TIPS CAN BE DANGEROUS WHEN WORKING AT ARMS LENGTH ON YOUR TOES. GOOD QUALITY OTHERWISE, BUT NEEDS TO BE LARGER AND SAFER.

These toenail scissors are certainly useful to me since I have limited mobility. They get the job done, and for now that is enough. I wish they were a little longer and made a sharper cut. On the plus side, they can be held in either hand and still cut toenails.

It takes a lot to really impress me, but I am totally impressed. I got these and was blown away. I usually have to soak my feet for ten minutes to be able to cut my toenails. This time I sat down and just cut them. It was like cutting butter. No strain at all and I have one double nail. It cut right through that one, also. No splitting or anything. They are sturdy. They might look flimsy, but these are solid and easy to control. I am 70 and had no problem at all. Will never be without these again.
