Worth the cost for fieldwork
The best pencils I have ever owned. I buy more every time I lose one, but the bright yellow usually helps find them if you drop them somewhere. I use these for fieldwork and the material is heavy in the right places, with a solid, no-frills design. The eraser is the best for use with rite-in-the rain paper as it leaves minimal smudges, and the 1.3mm lead is thick and solid, allowing for aggressive and legible scribbling with minimal breakage risk, but the erasers and lead disappear fast, so I'd recommend also buying the replacement lead/eraser canisters if you use these frequently in the field. I have never had the pencil case break or show any damage besides the paint wearing off if I manage to not lose one for a long time

game changer
Ok, I don't write in the rain while rappelling down a cliff, or anything like that. I use these for woodworking and carpentry projects. I have used all kinds of other pencils, mechanical, different lead thicknesses, you name it. This is by far the best I have used for my purpose. The lines are just large enough to be seen easily, but still small enough to be very precise. The lead is very durable, normally with mechanical pencils I have to get the carpentry ones with huge lead In them to keep from just breaking all the time. They are imprecise and the holders are not very nice either. This holder is very high quality feeling, and so far, I have not broken the lead a singe time. Also, the lines are nice and dark. I know it may be more expensive than some pencils you can get, but it's well worth them money. A case of getting what you pay for. I don't think you can buy a better pencil.

The best pencils I've ever owned
This is my third Rite in the Rain pencil. Actually my fourth. I had two of the older version that were lost and two of this version. I like everything about this version EXCEPT the fact there is no way to store extra lead in it. To me that is a huge detriment because you just don't know when you're going to run out and need to refill. I don't ever remember to carry extra lead with me due to the nature of my schedule. As much as I love the high vis color and general feel of this version I'd pay good money, more than I probably should, for the previous version. All that being said, I do like the grip of this version better as it fits my fingers and hand position when writing. The erasure has never given me a problem but it seems to disappear rather quickly. I've gifted this pencil to my husband from our local hardware store because he always complains about the tiny lead of typical mechanical pencils always breaking and he loves the thick lead of these RR pencils. Other than the lack of storage for extra lead, the value for money is on point.

Heavy. Thick. Nice.
Unexpectedly heavy. The metal on the grip is thicker than we normally expect to see. Nice, sturdy, handy pencil. No issues.

If you like heavy mechanical pencils, this is for you
Business end of the pencil is heavy metal. However, try not to drop it, as the barrel is plastic. I can see it breaking where the barrel screws into the metal.

Not your ordinary pencil
This is just one of the many Rite in the Rain Products that I became obsessed with buying lol. I little bit expensive but worth it!

Off balance. Great lead.
The tip of this pencil is off balance, it's too heavy and as soon as I opened the package it flipped out of my hand. The tube is made of cheap plastic, probably to cut production cost, too bad because I would have gladly paid more for higher quality materials. It's worth mentioning that regular eraser will erase the lead, and regular pencils also write and erase on the rite paper.
