Should i use a right angle cable or a straight cable (to connect the pickup to the amp)?

I have played for 35 years and have always used a straight cord and has never interfered with my bow hand. I am right handed and have always had it to the outer left side so it cant interefere with anything.

Does this require the use of a preamp?

No, you don't have to have a preamp but you can use one with this mic if you want. I just use my amplifier and it works beautifully. It is very warm and I have not had any feedback from it at all. I really do love it and would recommend it to anyone...

will the pickup affect the acoustic violin negatively? and is it easy to install and remove, do you need extra tools to do it?

I have not noticed any negative effects from installing the pick up on my violins except for a slight buzzing sound if the screws holding it to the bridge are slightly loose. Installation is fairly quick and easy, the tool for tightening the chin rest jack is included, the only thing you'll need is a micro screw driver (phillips head) for those tiny screws on the bridge.
