Great quality, last well even the waterproofness.
My husband wears these as his standard go to shoe. He's just binned a worn out pair and these are the replacements. The previous pair have racked up almost four years of frequent wear - he's got two pairs that come out for best and also does a bit of the year in flip flops when the weather's good, but the worn out pair have done everything else. The waterproofing gave up after about three and a bit years and then the soles wore through and the upper started to detach. They got cleaned and protected with suitable products every few months or when life had been particularly muddy. Still looked reasonable up to the last day.The going out pairs have done a day or so most weeks and they still look like new. No reason to expect that they will wear out more quickly. The sizing of these boots is very consistent. Hubby wears UK 8.5 and they never disappoint and don't need wearing in. Even the laces last the course. He likes the fit, that they are comfortable and flexible from day one, they have a bit of style to them (his orange/black pair are favourites) and they are quite light weight without compromising on functionality. Can be expensive, but keep your eye out and occasionally you'll find them at a sensible price which equates to about 30% off current model list price.Just very good in all respects as long as they fit you properly of course.

Pleasantly surprised...
I purchased these boots to replace a pair of worn out Scarpa boots that had lasted me a number of years. I wasn't expecting these Salewa boots to be anywhere near as comfortable and was almost expecting to send them back.I went half a size up as a lot of reviews had suggested and was very pleased with the fit. They are extremely comfortable and feel more like a trainer when on than a walking boot. The sole has really good grip and I have sloshed through some decent mud with the dog this year and haven't had any waterproofing issues either. They are maybe a touch shorter in height than a traditional walking boot and the lacing system gave my hands a bit of a battering as they aren't the easiest to tighten up due to the slightly strange eyeing arrangements. However once done I haven't had to re tighten them and they are up there with the most comfortable shoes that I own. Well worth considering as an alternative to your scarpa, lowa, meindls etc. Just watch that size up or try a pair first before shopping here.

Fit is good but little the the way of pading
The boot is technically very good. But as long as right for you.If the fit was as normal for size but little in the way of padding. So it doesn't fit if you have lump a and bumps in your ankle. Please try these if you have an narrow fit but it doesn't have much in the way of padding and would not recommend these for winter months.

Think Iโve found my best walking boots for 3 seasons
Very comfortable boots from day 1. Light too. I have a pair of their winter boots too, but these are ideal for 3 seasons. At this price v good value for money. I like the rubber protection round edge as most of my boots the stitching deteriorates first walking in the Scottish Highlands

Super comfortable right from the start
Very impressed by these boots.Incredibly comfortable right from the first walk and I suspect they will improve with a little 'break in' period. For me, Salewa are a fraction on the long side compared to some other brands (e.g. Salomon) for fit so chose EU 41 as opposed to 42 and they're perfect for me.Some of the lacing harware looks a little fragile so we'll see how well they last over time but very happy so far.

Comfortable but nowhere near water resistant
Edited again....I now rate these as 1 star only. Today was 4th time wearing them in rain and walking in wet grass, and the 4th time I've got soaking wet toes. The tongue is not at all water resistant and just let's water from grass or trouser legs straight in. Definitely to be avoided for wet weather. Amazon have authorised a return.Edited to add more:The problem with these boots is that the tongue is absolutely not waterproof. Assoon as water reaches the tongue where it meets the toe box, feet get wet. This is why long wet grass makes feet soaking.First off, I got these for bargain price of ยฃ80 for October trip of several days hiking and camping in Northumberland. I upsized by half a size and they are perfect. Comfort is absolutely spot on and my feet felt great during and at end of every day. However, even though I had treated them properly with Nikwax, knowing that suede has a tendency to wet out, I noticed on the first morning of walking in long dew-drenched grass that my toes were damp. They dried out as the day went on and do I just put it down to 'one of those things'. But last week I went for a walk in heavy rain, with waterproof trousers over the top of the boots, and the whole of my forefoot became soaked. I eventually got the boots dry and treated them again with Nikwax. And in the rain again yesterday.... wet feet. It's almost as if they is no waterproof membrane in the tongue or the seams where the tongue is stitched are not sealed at all, and the tongue just acts as a funnel to the toe area. The first time on long wet grass felt like water had been poured straight on top of my toes.If I had paid full price for these I would be very upset and returning them. I'm not sure what to do right now. I feel I should return them as they are not fit for purpose and do not meet the claimed specification, but they are so comfortable and the price I paid is ok for what they are. Salewa do need to know that there is a problem though....

Great quality boots
Great quality boots. Very supportive. I went for a half size up, as I have wide feet. The boots are a snug fit and very comfortable. The green colour that I choose were at a discounted priceโฆ for some reason they were about half the price of the black pair. I am very pleased with the purchase.

Comfy but not for heavy use.
Really liked these boots when I first got them but heel area of soles wore down very quickly. Used on woodland and fine gravel trails and were comfy straight out of the box. Good lower ankle support and grip was good on surfaces mentioned. Bought to complement my Salewa Raven winter boots, shame the sole is not as hard-wearing.

Great Hiker
1st time wearing these i hiked 8 miles with 730 feet elevation. Conditions were wet and overgrown. Slick rock and roots. These boots were super comfortable right out of the box and held up to some brutal conditions. My feet stayed dry and did not hurt anywhere. I felt light on my feet. I'm still skeptical of the lace system but so far so good.
