Dried out my scalp- but Kitsch’s customer service is incredible.
(Addendum to original review.). So- this shampoo bar did not help whatever weird condition is afflicting my scalp. However- I am giving this bar five stars, because Kitsch, as a company, is providing a level of incredible customer service that has become increasingly rare. All I can say is I now know this company really, really cares about its customers. So- though this product may not have worked for me- I am absolutely going to try other Kitsch products. I am happy to support a company that cares so much for what people think about their products. Again- the product itself was a pleasure to use. And it’s a good buy, because if kept dry, you are going to get a lot of use out of it. My point is: the standards of this company, and the quality of their products, have made sure I remain a Kitsch customer. And I *highly* recommend ordering from them. They are an absolute joy to deal with. Thank you. I always have high hopes for solid shampoo bars. I've tried several, but none of them seem to help with what is going on. Since moving to the Midwest from the West Coast years ago, my scalp has been really dry and, about a month after moving here, a patch of hair the size of my palm just dropped off the top of my head. This hair eventually grew back, but it will not grow longer than about 3/4 of an inch. I've been to lots of doctors and had cortisone injections (I also tried Minoxidil) and tried a million dandruff and anti-fungal and other treatment shampoos, and nothing has gotten rid of the dryness. It's not dandruff- the doctors let me know that. They just don't know what is going on. My scalp almost gets a granular feel to it. I've also tried many scalp scrubs, which provide some temporary relief, but the weird granular dryness always returns. I think the only way I'll be able to get rid of the scalp thing is to move back to live next to the ocean. Financially, that is not an option right now, so I remain stranded in the dried-out flatness for the foreseeable future. The positive reviews for this shampoo bar made it sound effective, and also studies have shown that rice water really can encourage hair growth. The shampoo bar went on sale for Prime Day, so I thought why not give it a try. The bar itself is pleasant to use. It had no obvious scent that I could detect. I found the bar held together, even in the stream of water from the shower. I initially used it by rubbing the bar on my scalp until it foamed up, then used my rubber scalp scrubber as usual. I didn't use any conditioner after the first time, as I wanted to gauge as accurately as possible the product had on my scalp. After my hair dried, I noticed that my scalp was once again covered in a weird layer of dryness. I then applied some leave-in scalp treatment, and that helped, but I realized sadly that it was looking like this shampoo bar was making the condition of my scalp worse. My hair felt fine- it didn't feel "stronger," but it felt clean. It was just that my scalp still felt dry, and strange. The next time I used it, I worked up a lather between my hands, then applied the lather to my scalp, as opposed to rubbing the bar on my head. I let the lather sit on my scalp for at least two minutes, then used the scalp scrubber, then rinsed, then followed with conditioner. Again, after my hair and scalp dried, I noticed the layer of dryness on my scalp seemed a bit worse. The next time I shampooed, I used a clarifying shampoo to try to reduce the layer of crud on my scalp. After my hair dried this time, my scalp was much less congested, and felt much cleaner and refreshed. So-- this product is just not for me. I wish it worked, as I can tell the bar, if it is allowed to dry, should last for quite awhile, and I was hoping to see some growth-boosting effects, as some have. However I am looking for something to improve the condition of my scalp, and this shampoo bar is obviously not working.

Best Shampoo bar
I have used this 3 times and my hair looks so healthy and shiny, soft. And it seems to not get oily as fast as used to. I love this so far. And it lathers really good

Great Shampoo & Conditioner
I have very fine hair that's on the oily side. As I have gotten older, I try not to wash it every day the way I used to so this is a great shampoo bar for me. It lasts a long time, lathers up great and leaves my hair really soft and clean. I can actually go three days using a dry shampoo in between washings. I use very little of the conditioner only on my ends. The price is more expensive than I usually pay, but it didn't last me almost three months so it's definitely worth it.

Strong Smell
The smell is very strong. I have a small apartment bathroom, and it completely smells like this bar. Even fresh open from the box with no water used. Even after it was used. Using this with the shampoo bar and leave-in conditioner. So far I do like the conditioner bar. First use, I did feel like it took a lot of strokes to get coverage. I like how smooth and soft the bar feels. My hair seems ok so far.

New invention perfect for travel too.
Now this is a great product. Do how directions say. It suds up beautifully. Cleans your hair very well leaves it to dry out fluffy. You will love it. No oiliness and I find bar lasts well . It may break in half from use but you can use without problem . Made it stand up to dry inbetween uses.

Work in Progress
I have waist/hip length fine~ish thin hair. Not dyed. Gets oily within 3 days. Lacks volume day 2. 3 stars for now. Will update after second use. Not using with conditioner bar. First impression: smell was nice and not strong at all. Feels like a regular bar of soap really. I'll store it outside the shower. First use: Pre-oiled my scalp with Rosemary Oil blend. They say you can "paint" it on but I find that near impossible unless you're willing to go through a lot more product holding it under water. It just drags against your hair in the beginning and does nothing. It lathered well on my hands and rinsed out what I hope was completely. Blow dried medium heat. However, now my scalp is a little warm to the touch and itchy. This did seem to give me a bit more volume than with my regular shampoo (L'Oreal Dream Lengths, not leaving it btw just heard amazing things about this bar shampoo), but it's not worth it if I have to sit there and keep messing with my scalp. My hair fall out did seem a bit more than usual. Edit: applied castor oil to my scalp and lightly massaged it in. It's now the morning after and itchiness has died now. The volume has not. 2nd use: my hair still had a bit of normal volume day three. Pre-oiled with Rosemary Oil blend. Lathered with hands. Blow dried medium heat. Fall out seemed normal and surprisingly this time I am not itchy at all! The volume this gives is nice and I am wondering if there is some kind of deposit that stays behind and absorbs oil in some way? Maybe the first use aftereffect was caused by this and I had to adjust? 3rd use: Same routine. Volume is dying down and I think there is some product being left behind. This bar will probably have to be used in conjuction with another cleanser which I don't like. Not sure yet if hair feels "stronger." I do think I'm experiencing less tangles, but the fall out is still leaving me kind of skeptical. Will continue to use and update again after bar is gone.

Been using for a year, and it's been great!
This is the best shampoo I've ever used. It's not as difficult as you think, I just rub the bar on my scalp... and it works! It has made my hair so soft and it actually made my hair grow faster. It's healthier than ever! I've been using it for well over a year now and I love it. Bars last me almost three months, and I love that they don't irritate my skin. If you are sensitive to certain ingredients, this is for you!

The soap looks natural and has mild smell and foam as well I think using same conditioner bar will be recommended for perfect result.

My husband & I both love Kitsch's Rice Shampoo Bar! I especially love it because it is so gentle on my bleached hair (which is then coloured baby pink) & does not fade my colour at all! Since I tone my hair a very light pink it usually never lasts more than a couple weeks - shampooing about 3 times a week. With the Rice Bar it doesn't seem to fade much at all. This is the first shampoo (and I have tried many) that has not significantly faded my hair colour, while thoroughly cleansing it and leaving it incredibly soft - So soft that I can get away without conditioning it - which is unheard of with bleached hair! That said, I purchased the Rice Conditioning Bar as well and it is wonderful! My husband & I use the Rice Shampoo Bar from head to toe. We find it is a very good body wash as well - one & done. I will definitely be repurchasing!

This is my second purchase of Castor Oil Nourishing Shampoo Bar & Coconut Oil Conditioner Combo. I love it! Lets start by saying I am a 68 year old woman with long thick, corse, waist length, dyed dark blond hair… My hair naturally is very dark with Gray sprinkles… Think asian hair. I gave up my very expensive salon products to try Kitsch, because its was less than a third the cost of mine. The reviews were just so good - I had to try it. And what a pleasant surprise I got! It lathers beautifully and the conditioner feels like silk in my hair. When dried, my hair is extra thick feeling ( if that is possible,) wavy, voluminous and soft with lots of movement. No more frizz and my split ends are pretty much non existent. The only thing that is a con for me, is the bars do not last as long as they say they do and that is probably due to the length and volume of my hair, but other than that, I can’t say enough good things about Kitsch products. So I of course highly recommend Kitsch products whole heartedly. Do yourself a favor and just buy them and try them for a few months, you’ll be glad you!
