Thick fabric made to last, but more time needed to really know if they live up to expectations
I’ve been wearing Jean Shop’s Japanese raw denim jeans for years, and loved the heavy feel of the fabric, and how they wore in over the years. When they finally were unwearable, after many years and repairs, that company stopped using that fabric and went with a lighter thickness. The result was a nicely built jean that wore down over a year or two. Then the company went out of business. Since then, I’ve bought jeans that had an avg lifespan of a year or less and finally did some research as to why I loved those Japanese denim jeans so much and was chasing that experience. So, I found this company and this pair of jeans, and so far am extremely pleased with it. It’s almost like putting in a suit of armor, stiff and you can feel the folds of the cloth as you bend and move. I’m enjoying breaking in these jeans and am sure to get some nice wear into them. In reality, it’s way to early to do a real review on these. But my initial impression is that I’m extremely pleased with the material, and for half the price I’ve paid for other brands! In a year from now, if this review is still viable, I’ll edit it with a pic of the jeans and comment on the durability. But for now, these jeans are above my expectations. In regards to sizing, it’s as expected. Since you can only order waist size, I expected it to be long on me. I’m 5’8” and usually fit a 29”x30”. I ordered 30” waist to be cautious, but it’s true to size and could have gotten a 29” for a fitted fit. The length is more like 34”, so I’m rolling them up while I’m breaking them in. But am planning on bringing them to a tailor to shorten because the rolls are pretty big

Great pants!
Nice pair of heavy denim. I normally wear 36w (which means I would wear 34w according to UB sizing), but I sized up and ordered 36w thinking the this denim might not stretch at all due to the weight. When I got them I measured the wait and they came out to be 36.5 and thankfully not an actual 38w. Overall, the extra room all around fits me great. My favorite selvedge denim at the moment.

Ok for new selvedge denim collectors
Received these jeans today! So far they have been ok. The denim weight feel substantial and I didn't notice any stiffness like other reviewers. I have been wearing selvedge jeans for a few years and thought I would give UB a try. Most of the selvedge jeans I buy, especially heavy denim are usually stiffer...not these. With that being said, I'm interested to see how the fades, honeycombs, and whiskers turn out. I wouldn't wear nice boots or white shoes with these just yet because the dye in the jeans will definitely transfer over. Also, the jeans have this weird odor. It could be the dye used. As far as the buttons and rivets go, you definitely get what you paid for....cheap rivets, buttons, and patch. The sizing is another issue. I'm 5'8, 200lbs and have about a 35-36 inch waist. I have a thick waist and legs from doing squats and deadlifts. These jeans fit somewhat loose and I'm not to impressed with the taper.Edit: I will be returning these. Fit is too large for my liking.

great jeans, would recommend
These jeans have become my favorite pair of pants. I entered the world of selvedge looking only to find a pair of jeans thicker and more durable than what I could typically find in stores. To that end, they’ve accomplished that goal, and I really enjoy wearing them. I wear them to work, in a restaurant, so they get the occasional splash of food or grease which means I wash them almost every week, depending on how that week went. If you’re not going to obsess over fades, it’s really okay to give them a light wash to keep them clean. Just let them air dry.The only thing I would say is my body shape makes it so I had to go one size up in the waist so it would fit in the thigh.

Do NOT use the Unbranded sizing chart.
This was to be my first pair of selvedge denim pants, so I really researched these well before purchase. This included watching and reading reviews, as well as being careful to size them appropriately...or so I thought. If you use the included size chart from Unbranded, THESE JEANS WILL NOT FIT YOU. I followed Unbranded's guide to sizing jeans from start to finish. As determined by their recommendations, I ordered a size 30, as my waist is exactly 32". When I tried them on, they were so tight that I couldn't even get them over my thighs. Even the pics of these jeans does not accurately show how skinny they fit.I would recommend buying true to size with these, and will update this review after reordering.

Amazing Value
First of all Amazon absolutely nailed the shipping on these. Ordered Friday evening and I'm wearing them at noon Sunday with standard (free) shipping. Anyway - the jeans. Like all heavy, raw denim these are super stiff right out of the package but after wearing for only 4 hours they have already begun to soften up. As should be expected based on the name, the denim is pretty standard. Nice deep blue color with a fairly open weave allowing the white weft to show through. The indigo rubs off very easily so avoid wearing white shirts/shoes/socks for a while and don't sit on any light colored furniture. Before ordering check out the official Unbranded website and look at the size chart to make sure you order the correct size as they run large. All in all these jeans are a tremendous value - you won't find any other denim of this weight for anywhere near this price.Update - after wearing for a few weeks now they are still quite stiff. Also this particular denim is fairly scratchy. I still maintain that these jeans represent one of the absolute best deals in raw denim however I definitely miss the details. One of the things that typically sets high end denim apart are the details - custom rivets, patch buttons, etc. The lack of details here is very evident. Yes, that is the whole point of the brand but it makes the jeans look and feel cheap. These are great if you are just getting into raw denim or want to try a heavier weight, but if you are really looking for quality spend the extra money and spring for a better brand.
