PNW Seatposts are Droppin’ the Competition !
With this latest PNW Coast Dropper I now have a dropper seatpost installed on all my bikes. Over the last 4 years I have used excellent ones by Thomson Covert, CrankBrothers Hiline, and PNW Cascade. The Thomson has the quickest and best feeling action on the return, but it is the priciest. The CB lever is the best for finding the most custom ergonomic fit, and the CB dropper has been flawless through 2000 miles of Moab, Colorado front range, and Austin Greenbelt Trails. The PNW brand is my new favorite due to the variety of options, awesome price point, and generally comparable features and performance as the other two. My brother and friends have had bad experiences with SRAM, KS, and other brands, so I have stayed away from trying those. Also I will only use cable actuated (vs hydraulic actuated) seatpost droppers for ease of servicing and other benefits. This PNW Coast is a (31.7/125) little bit shorter than a PNW Cascade (31.7/125) when fully inserted into my bike. For shorter riders like me, it feels like it is almost an inch difference. I dont have many other options so I am grateful for this newest Coast seatpost. The air suspension is a bit of a mystery initially, given that I want efficient climbing. Given that I ride clipless pedals (CB Mallet Enduro) almost 100% of the time, I needed a seatpost that would not bob up and down on the upstroke of each pedal rotation. With sufficiently high PSI, the bobbing action can completely eliminated but it also has no cushioning at that high of pressure. The air chamber is likely very small, so when pumping it up - users have to be aware of how much pressure is lost when you unscrew the oump from the valve. Seems like this seatpost has a much more significant loss of PSI (compared to my fox shox or cane creek shocks) when I unscrew the pump off the valve, so users definitely olay around with this before finding the right PSI that works for your weight, terrain, and riding style. Keep a shock pump with you if you need to change it up during your ride! Hopefully the air chamber doesnt fail but there is the 3-year warranty to assure me. Based on my experiences so far.... the high quality construction, simplicity of packaging, and consistently flawless performance make it a highly recommended seatpost dropper.Like the previous reviewer, which I concur with, I also reserve the 5th star for when a more lightweight version comes out. However if this dropper lasts 3-years without any issues I will upgrade my review. I will update each year.....

A little difficult to tune just right.
I bought this not realizing it was a "suspension" dropper post (my fault for not reading the item description). Installation is easy (the PNW web site has a very good install guide video). Tuning the suspension amount was difficult. If you want "suspension", you have to let some air out...but in doing that, it makes the seat creep down a bit as you're riding. It was difficult to get right. In the end, I just cranked it up to 225 lbs and essentially took the suspension part of this out. The dropper mechanism itself was good and had no issues with that. If you get this post, get the "Loam" lever from PNW... it's a perfect mate for this post.

Game changer, to be able to lower seat to swing your leg over to get on and off your bike.
I’m 265lbs worried that it wouldn’t support me on my Ebike. The response before I bought was fast, they assured me that it would handle my weight and the limit was 300lbs. It works great. Easy to lower so I can put my feet down went I come to a stop, also the air suspension works great for this heavy guy for bumps. Thumbs up!

I can't imagine not having it now that I've got it.
A must buy. Not just for Mountain biking anymore. These are some of the best dropper posts on the market. I have bought 2 of these and the customer service is phenomenal. The 40 mm of suspension is great for rough roads and keeps you from singing soprano. It also makes mounting/dismounting/stopping at intersections easier. It is one of those products you never thought you needed until you have one, but can't imagine not having it once you do.

hardtail mountain bike application
I've been using it on a mountain bike - downhills, hill climbs, trails and overall very happy.I'm using the drop function mostly on high speed downhills especially with tight turns as it is easier to manage my 29er into a turn. Also on steep downhills to lower center of gravity.Suspension function - I would not rely on it on high speed downhills as it may catapult you. I mostly stay on pedals in this mode just like I would do with a regular seat post. I get the most out of suspension during relaxed and relatively slow ride on trails. It does work depending on how you adjust the pressure.

Fast customer service for missing part
The page says they recommend their Loam lever because this doesn't come with a cable, housing, or lever. Well, I'll tell you now don't buy the Loam lever if you don't already have some spare cable housing for your dropper post - it doesn't come with any, and thus is unusable. Thanks guys - maybe next time tell your customers to buy the necessary companion product that would actually make it work on their bikes.Update- I contacted the manufacturer and they immediately sent me the missing part which I will be trying as soon as it arrives.

Best value, feature and quality.
Best investment. Installed on my Salsa beatgrease fat bike. I can take on inclined now with a good amount of extension on mt seat post, and can easy lower it when coming down hill to have a better control. The suspension feature; dialed in to my weight, is a big feature that makes my hardtail fat bike pleasantly drivable on trails.

Best option I've used for external routing
Spend the money on a 'real' dropper if you're shopping for one. We've installed cheap ones for people trying to save a few bucks on bike builds and it never works out. PNW makes GREAT components and this is another example of such. Well built, fast shipping direct from the manufacturer and awesome and reliable performance. Highly recommended

Indispensable for a hardtail.
The suspension works very well and also the dropper. It just goes at the right speed. It makes a real difference for trails with a lot of roots. In addition, the suspension does not activate for nothing when pedaling. I recommend.

solid product for an easy upgrade
i am very happy with the post. Initially i thought it was losing pressure but it was my fault as every time i pumped it to 300psi then when i unscrewed the pump i lost about half of that. Once i figured out how to pump it correctly the pressure holds.

No cable kit included
It did not come with the cable kit that you have to buy separately. It is like you are buying a bicycle but they do not give you the tires.
