Emma’s latest cube
Love the cubes- they’re a lovely little scene in and of themselves. With lots of details that’s very appealing, this one is well aligned with the character’s interests. If you can get them on offer they’re also good value for money- but a little expensive at full price.

Cute mini lego play sets
This is a cute mini playset from Lego, the small and compact sewing themed design is very neat and portable. Inside this mini play cube is a mini doll figure and a “blind bag” containing a random extra accessory. With the small collection of lego parts there is some limited creative play as Lego goes. All the pieces fix to the base, making this set perfect for fun on the move. These sets are collectable but the cost does add up. This set retails about £9 which is creeping on expensive for a bit of Lego but i like that these sets are quite simple and the themes are a bit different to usual lego. It is a nice but small set with the excellent quality as expected from such a big and well known brand. They make a great addition to an existing Lego collection.

Lego - Always Brilliant
Yes, I get that this is aimed squarely at girls and today that's perhaps not on point, however, putting aside the modern ideologies there's no doubt this immediately captured my granddaughters imagination. And, that's all that matters as far as I'm concerned. When I was considerably younger the reality is that construction toys were firmly in the boys domain but I find it excellent that the likes of Lego are trying to get girls interested in doing something constructive even if it does involve a lot of pink. The set itself is naturally overly expensive - after all it is LEGO - but I can forgive that because frankly no one comes close to making something so tactile, so well designed and so interesting to small hands. My granddaughter and I had a very pleasant hour putting this together and she loved the small extras that allowed her imagination to create a world inside her head.It also packs up neatly so it can be transported easily and for grandparents or parents it will happily sit in a handbag to be pulled out when needed, such as when you actually do want a bit of peace to enjoy the overpriced coffee you have just been gouged for.Overall, expensive but, it's LEGO and that means it's kind of worth it.

Sweet little small world toy, not much of a build
I really like the idea of these small world girl-oriented Lego sets, which seem to derive inspiration from Polly Pocket. This came in a semi-display cardboard packet which exposed the front of the cube itself. I wasn’t quite so keen on the reality of the build. The instructions for this set were all over the place and quite hard to follow because they were so disjointed. The build itself, though minimal, is quite chaotic with parts separated over two bags, with no apparent motivated reasoning to the separation – for example, when building the sewing machine all but one piece came from one bag. After the build I was left with a lot of small pieces with no obvious home – a few dot type bits for (I guess) customising and duplicates of a paintbrush, pen, pen pot, and pair of scissors. Since this is quite a small set, there really isn’t space to store the extra bits. There’s a bit of fuss made about there being a surprise element to the set in that a bird friend for the Emma character will come in one of 4 random colours. The one I got is the exact same colour as the cube itself, so it doesn’t stand out well and is really rather underwhelming. I think at the current reduced price of £6.99, this seems a reasonable pocket money toy – but am not convinced this is worth the £8.99 RRP.

You are paying for the brand
Lego is always going to cost more than other brands but with this you are definitely paying for the name. My kids really liked it and have played with it quite a lot but it is not different to other toys they have that are similar and cost half the price. I have scored it high because it is a good toy and does what it is meant to do, but it could be cheaper.
