JBL Bass Pro SL2 8'' Underseat Subwoofer Boombox

I bought the powered JBL sub for 2 reasons: 1- I could hide it under my seat. 2- It’s a JBL Installation wasn’t that difficult, there is enough information out there to figure out installation on any vehicle. Most of the negative feedback I read when researching which sub I should buy talked about the sub not hitting hard enough or it made little or no difference to the existing system. I think the right application of equipment like this is critical. I felt it was a good choice for me because it was going in a small Toyota pickup and I wasn’t looking for huge sustaining bass. I listen to a lot of rock and heavy metal and was looking for some kick drum thump and boost in frequencies below 120hz. This sub has a good amount of range but you’ve got to spend some time dialing it in. That’s not a bad thing, no sub sounds great just plugging it in. You have to listen and adjust, listen and adjust. I have an Alpine head unit with a pretty decent eq section, everything had to be re calibrated. After listening to the new configuration for a couple of weeks and a total of 3-4 hours of tweaking it, I can honestly say it made a big difference to my system. Much cleaner bass frequencies, especially at higher volume levels. Kick drums you can feel and an all around way better mix. It really depends on what you need it to do. Giant bass will usually require a giant sub but if you’re looking to enhance an already good sounding system in a space that’s not too big, this may be the answer. It was definitely worth the try.

By far my best purchase in a long time . Bought it new and replaced what was in my truck . JBL had been my go to in the last 10 years . For home , portable speakers ,earbuds and auto . I have yet to be disappointed and for the $ I find the sound quality great !!

I installed this in my 1982 Volkswagen Rabbit, and honestly, this thing exceeded my expectations. I didn’t want a giant sub box taking up half the hatch area or rattling the entire car apart — I just wanted clean, balanced low-end to fill out the sound system. This does exactly that. The bass is tight and surprisingly powerful for such a compact underseat subwoofer. It’s not going to compete with a pair of 12s in a custom enclosure, but that’s not the point of this product. It adds the perfect amount of punch and depth to music without overwhelming everything else. I paired it with JBL Club speakers, and the system sounds fantastic now. Bass guitars, kick drums, synth bass, and even classic rock tracks all sound fuller and more alive without sounding muddy. Installation was straightforward, and the compact size made placement really easy. The included controls are simple to dial in, and once adjusted properly, it blends into the system extremely well. One thing I really appreciate is that it adds bass you can feel without turning your car into “that guy’s” car shaking apart at stoplights. It’s mature bass. Respectable bass. Adult bass. If you want clean low-end improvement while keeping your cargo space and factory-ish practicality, this thing is absolutely worth it.

Decent for the money.

My son has a Honda Civic hatchback and wanted some more bass without losing space. This powered sub fit perfectly under the seat and hits hard. It was easy to install and connect to the factory head unit. Might need to get one for my car.

It does a great job of reinforcing the low end, and allows you to lower the bass being sent to the factory speakers, by using your head unit’s EQ, while controlling the level of the sub with the remote knob. Its biggest benefit is the small size, which gives you a lot of placement flexibility, but at the cost of louder deep bass that a larger woofer and enclosure size would provide. It’s best application is as a low profile/hidden way to add more low end to your system, while decreasing the amount of low end sent to the factory speakers, thereby letting them be louder with less vibration or distortion.

Amazing powerful bass from such a slim compact unit, I am used to large bass enclosures and am VERY into my music so this 100% gets the best rating. JBL at their best

I've read in the reviews that it had cables etc to install it. But it doesn't come with cables. No ground/remote or battery cable. And for the ones who are amazed by the sound, I'm wondering if they ever had subwoofers before. Because I have and the sounds is, okay. Definitely not amazing. Installation is easy. The hardest part was finding a hole to get the battery cable from the battery to the inside of the car. You can feel the bass through the seat. It's nice that it comes with a remote to manage the bass so you can adjust it while driving instead of adjusting it on the subwoofer under your seat.
